  • New bike season continues to deliver, as we recently took possession of the 2022 Honda CRF450R. Although the machine is essentially unchanged for the new year, aside from some needed adjustments to the suspension and ECU, the new generation Honda is certainly a fun bike to both ride and look at. We had SML test rider Rene Garcia and our very own Donn Maeda put the red machine to the test at Perris MX before giving us their initial impression. Check it out!

So that's why millions of people have died? They died of a scam?
Don't drag motocrossers down to your level, just because you're dumb.

I got me a 22 crf450r. Man it’s such a good bike. I’m 200 lbs. set the clickers 2 up on compression 106 sag drop the forks where about 2 mm of the gold shows. It’s so nice. I do feel the rear spring could be a touch stiffer for me. Got a 7oz flywheel weight on it. U can chug this thing down pretty low.

Search your region for a high volume dealer. They usually have a lower markup cause they move so many units

Sounds like the bike to choose if youre racing and want to spend a little money on it. If you plane on keeping it completely stock there are probaly better choices. but it seems to hit so many marks for racing compared to some of the other bikes that it has to be in the conversation

Being a Honda guy usually a little more sag keeps them from being twitchy. Also a extra link in the chain helps too

  • @ataiken8406

Can anyone tell me why these EFI bikes make a very weird strange "climbing" type sound when you are in a higher gear and start to accelerate out of the corner and it can "make a" pop" sound that scares the shit out me? Does anyone here the same thing or is it just me?? It happens on my husky and my 2020 crff 450. I hope described the sound? It seems to come from the right side of the engine. It is not a loose chain type noise

Lean pop on decel up high equals detonation for a fast rider who uses the top end power.

Not a very good video guys. The audio problems are worthy of a reshoot and just a really weird and awkward overview of the bike. Rene seems like a great guy but not a very good presenter in my opinion. Came across as a fresh on the job Honda rep - the way he was super formal at times with all the 'yes absolutely'-ies, only really seemed to have positives to say about the bike, and just seemed a little dry/lifeless in front of the camera. Way too many fillers (uh, um, like), spoke way too quickly and tended to repeat himself. Massive contrast to Donn who is super skilled at all of those things, could definitely take some examples. Even just by slowing down and thinking about what you're going to say next should help reduce a lot of the overuse of fillers. People like youtube for the down to earth, feel like you know the person, type attitudes, not the fake tv presenter stuff. All he really has to do is calm down and be himself, but I know that's not the easiest to do when you're nervous. I really don't mean any offense to the guy, he seems super nice, just not a natural in front of the camera. I would be no better myself, probably a whole lot worse. Maybe with time and practice he'll get better, or the nerves will die down as he gets more time in front of the camera.

not really a fan of AF CR500. I did buy a 95 cr 500 back in 2010 just to put the motor in my 08 cfr450r. I loved the old steal frame so much, I ran it instead. It was my favorite bike. Got used to my 08 crf450, wouldn't really want a 500 motor it, not to mention a lot of mods to the frame. However just picked up a 2022 crf450r, love the bike, but did notice the Y pipe of frame is high as hell. I think a AF crf500 would be a super easy mod with 21 or 22 frame. FYI I believe the CRF250R and CR450R use the same frame.
