- New 2025 motocross bikes began to show up at the Swapmoto Live offices as early as June and we've spent the past months riding and racing them to learn the ins and outs of how each machine performs. Our final day of comparison testing with support from the manufacturers went down last week at Fox Raceway, with five riders of varying ages, abilities, riding styles, and body types. All of the machines were outfitted with excellent Maxxis SI soft-to-intermediate-terrain tires to ensure consistent traction and feel between the six bikes. Although we got a reprieve from the heatwave that's swept through Southern California as of late, we kept the bikes running cool with Engine Ice High-Performance Coolant, and purring like kittens with Maxima lubricants.
For anybody that thinks this video is too short and doesn’t discuss the other bikes enough then go watch the hour long riders tell all video Swapmoto just put out. They go more in depth than any other shootout.

Seeing KTM group bikes with Temecula Motorsports stickers on em is unusual considering they don’t sell any. I’m looking forward to the 250F shootout as I’m in the market for one next year. I’m leaning Kawi or Honda atm.

How serious can you actually take one of their shootout videos when for YEARS they have been starting ever single video off with a Yamaha advert… Like yeah i wonder which bike will win the shootout this year. 🙄 It’s embarrassing, No one taking any of these shootout videos serious.

@@RogerT-kt3zd problem for your analogy is- EVERY single publication agree's!!! It actually is the best of the best. Best motor, best suspension & now(finally) the best all around handling. The only reason it might not be the best looking(by some) is because their still using that dark blue plastic. Yamaha really needs to change that color to the vivid bright/light blue to make it stand out more.
For example, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, KTM, ect...
I didn’t get a Yamaha advert at the start so possibly just the algorithm throwing that your way? That said, I think they should rename the video title to add “winner” given so much time was spent talking about the Yamaha being the clear winner.
Lastly, I’m not surprised by the result, Yamaha have put a lot of effort into their YZF line. I bought their 2023 250 and it was unbelievable how good it was, I was immediately comfortable on it. I like and own or have owned all the major brands.

Hell yeah! Ride it...y'know it's also the most dependable bullet-proof race bike out there!!! Too bad it's still dark blue though, Yamaha needs to go back to the Japanese factory Grabber blue color. All the other manufacturers have vivid bright colors, time to make it look LIGHT(blue) not heavy.
What you heard was a short summary of what their favorite bike was. Sorry that the bike you own didn't make the cut

For Value the Kawasaki's are hard to beat they seem to always have the biggest discounts, often close in price to the Suzuki's after discounts
IDK, I've never seen a Kawi listed for $6k in my area.
@nathanmistler1186 I have, not when a new model year first hits, but they will typically have big discoints by fall.
Some areas are just greedy, but there have been 2024's listed for $5995 in some states

The reason I watch a shootout is to hear how the bikes compare to one another. Swapmoto decided to do a "roundtable" video, which does that. This video is a summary of the winner only. Go to the 2025 roundtable video if you want the normal shootout info. Might stop the disappointment of this vid.

I want to see lap times from all riders on all the bikes !
We’ve done lap times several times in the past. Ultimately, they are largely irrelevant. Deteriorating track conditions and rider fatigue play too large a role in the times. Unless you’re a top-level pro it’s pretty hard to stay consistent all day long.

Yea but that’s part of it. Same can be said about testing. U get one bike beginning of the day and the one last part of the day. Never gonna be equal. Plus some guys ride diff styles or whatever. So it’s all took with a grain of salt. I wish they do test on race days and actually race them as a test. West coast test are gonna help guy on by the east or whatever. It’s always a hard pack gh test typically and never have I got to race a track that was hard packed like that.
I still think it would be cool to see. Amateur or pro good lap times win races. It would be cool to see what the “test riders” are saying and feeling compared to how fast the bike is actually going around the track. You guys aren’t doing lap times while testing? Every rider picked Yamaha. Still would be good to see lap times because just because yall say the Yamaha is amazing but what are the lap times against the other bikes
@@denniswilder3014 they rent out the track, only 5 guys ride it all day. I don’t think it’s getting THAT rough unless youre the C rider. I can understand rider fatigue but you don’t have to ride 30 min Moto on each bike to feel the difference. I can feel the difference 30 seconds in

Its just not right reviewing bikes from other manufacturers when they start each video with a Yamaha advert, it’s super deceitful & disgraceful behaviour in all honesty
How can you compare suspension on a track with zero bumps? Other than landing off jumps and a few rollers what is there to know?

These are Race Bikes....which one gets around the Track the fastest is a relevant question never answered by comments about how a bike ''FEELS'' to a Rider. Find a Rider who best represents ''Joe Average'' and try and make the conditions as equal as possible for Lap Times. Have Three Riders and average their times...but find a way like they did in the old tests.
What about all the people who are much better than average ? If you want a bike for Joe Average buy a Suzuki or Kawasaki .
@@herbcanter2114 That's why I said three riders of different speed and average...it still matters which bike is quickest around a Track.
@herbcanter2114 because people who are above average will modify their bikes anyway so these tests are 100% for the average rider

GYTR KIT The high compression piston and the ported head AKRAPOVIC EXHAUST that's gotta be as close as your gonna get to a full factory version they run in MXGP
I have a YZ250f built exactly as you described, with a vortex tuner, running on VP U4, it's next lvl for sure. There are a lot of other things you can do the get closer to mxgp though.

Don't tell me the YZ is so good! My KTM forks are being converted to KYB at AEO right now! LOL. I'd be interested to see how the KTM group stands out if they had spring forks but it seems like a lot of the testers here are enjoying a more powerful engine.
Had JBI install the WP spring kit in mine. Best bike I’ve ever ridden after JB set it up
@@stevesmith756 I've ridden a couple of my buddies JBI set up's and they're very impressive! He charges pretty cheap too which is even better!

KTM has been so stubborn twice now in trying to flog a bad suspension idea. first it was doing away with linkage and taking two decades to prove it might work. next they cant be convinced that we don't want air forks. think how big KTM would be in market share without those two blunders!

KTM sell more bikes than all japanese manufacturers combined, they dominate the offroad market on every level from amateurs to pro… Japanese bikes have been playing catchup to KTM for over a decade now, look at all the parts that japanese bikes now have all thanks to KTM for pushing the industry to where it is today, KTM is the king of offroad & its not even debatable, best bikes off the showroom floor uncontested. 🍊🥇🏆💯
The test could be better , all the bikes are great , however I will buy the Honda hands down , even if you guys bagged the Honda I will still buy it because I know it's good .

It is a good question. Suzuki barely update their bikes (at best). I've been told Suzuki concentrates on selling commuter bikes in places like India.

This was an awful review of all the bikes. Feels rushed and not much thought put in, and short in length. Very minimal comments on the other bikes and updated features. It is very disingenuous to all the other manufacturers. Like we get it Yamaha is good, but what did you like on the other bikes? Every comment is just Yamaha for the most part lol. At least have the riders rank the bikes on what they liked for each.

I think they’re more focused on r&d for their cars than building new motorcycles. I like the Suzuki and considered it for the money but every year I put off buying a new bike the RM-Z becomes less appealing and further left behind.
@@jpesicka492 If staying stock I can't agree anymore but if your gonna drop some cash into the bike its hard not to consider. Ya you gotta kick it still but man, when you can find them new for $6k. That savings really opens you up to doing a lot to the RM-Z that can really make it compete with these newer bikes even if you built one of the newer bikes.
