Intercept and docking are one of the hardest things to do in the game for me. The tutorial is not that clear and with this video you helped me a lot! Thank you!
Thanks for that feedback! ...my PC got zapped by lightning last week and I have been wanting to do some more videos, just been a little delayed lately.
In some parlance we call that tilt "inclination" ;) Even though I fully understand the concepts and execute plenty of intercepts and docks, I never seem to get past the "Just fiddle around, and eventually the craft will get close together" level of execution. I don't often think to do the double-adjustment trick, and often just wait out the orbits. I suppose if fuel/dV isn't an issue, it can give the intercept process fewer steps. A note about the second pair of intercept markers-- it's not two "orbits" later, it's the second position on your current orbit where the paths cross. Because they're not exactly the same size/shape, they intersect in two places. The "way in" and "way out," if you will...
You are correct and I did have to annotate that correction at 17:12 regarding the magenta intercept and the 2 solutions. But hey, at least that means you watched it for 17 minutes!
@@xljedi2335 watched up until the end! I was hoping to see your methods for landing an SSTO. That's something I've never quite gotten the hang of. :D I really like your craft designs, and it's fun to see them in action as intended.
OH cool! I can post another video on landing an SSTO at Kerbin with voiceover commentary. The procedure I follow tends to be the same for all of my SSTO's with one exception.
Thanks so much, I haven't been able to dock with my space station but now I know how to
Awesome! ...it can be a little disorienting how to fire thrusters in the right direction.
