- I love staying at small independent hotels, and when I saw this place come up as an option near the San Diego airport, I knew I had to try it. Turned out to be a great decision. This is one of the best properties I've reviewed in years. Everything was spotless and lovingly cared for. Can't recommend highly enough if you find yourself in the San Diego area.

It's hotel room tour time with theelevatorchannel
It doesn't matter if a property is old school or new school. This place looks fantastic.
I have a soft spot for these older family owned hotels, especially when they’re run as well as this one.
@@TheElevatorChannel yay glad to see another hotel review. keep them comming your behind haha, oh when is your next trip to Tan Tara or the country club hotel raquet club? or mexico?? cruise maybe, its fun
What a pleasant room and property!
YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY GIVE A LINK TO THIS REVIEW TO THE MANAGEMENT OF THIS LOVELY HOTEL. IMAGINE HOW GOOD IT WOULD MAKE THEM FEEL.
The architecture looks like an old LaQuinta maybe? You know it's old school when they have the bottle opener mounted in the bathroom! Only thing missing is the built in metal Kleenex dispenser.
It’s been an independent as far back as I could find. Seems the shorter buildings I showed at the beginning are the originals, and then they built the 3 story building we stayed in some time in the 90s.
Looks nice for a old school hotel
That’s gotta be one of the nicest budget properties you ever toured, it’s giving me strong Rosen vibes. Great video Jacob!
Wow! What a solid seeming property. I am impressed. Café Coyote is a fantastic Mexican restaurant just a couple blocks away from this place. I love, love, love San Diego.
Also, we both have a soft spot for places like this. Melody Ranch in Paso Robles, CA has the same charm and cleanliness as this place. You would love that place as well.
!!!!!!! Yey, hotel review
Wow! Excellent housekeeping!
I'll definitely visit if I'm in the area.
I find it interesting that they use golf pencils instead of Ballpoint Pens in the in-room desk area. My only complaint is that the breakfast area looks like it does not offer hot items besides waffles. Other than that this hotel looks pretty much on par with Days Inn, Super 8 or La Quinta.
Cool
Great hotel tour! For a budget hotel that is considered an independent brand, it actually looks really well kept.
This hotel I remember when we lived in the older military housing near marine corp recruit depot. Water in that part of San Diego is very hard, our shower in the military housing we lived get the same way within 2 weeks of use on a new shower head. If I remember right that may been a banded hotel then.
Not a bad hotel
I stayed at this hotel back in 2019 in one of the roll-in shower rooms (Im physically disabled). The room was clean and comfortable and got it at a good price (in 2019). The staff - very friendly and promptly checked me into my room, even when I arrived early in the day. I liked the location of the hotel because it's a short walk to the Old Town Transit Center.
You can actually ride the Flyer bus from the airport to the transit center for free. Then just walk across the street to the hotel. Makes it very easy-almost like a free airport shuttle.
@TheElevatorChannel yep! I took the Flyer from the airport to the transit center.
I live in San Diego
Beautiful
2:38 This is definitely one of the newest PTACs I have ever seen.

That property gets rave reviews on Tripadvisor. I can see why.
Nice 😊
I guess its called the Old Town Inn for a reason. Its "Old School!"
By the way, you know your website URL that displays at the end of every video is a dead link?
I transferred the domain to a new registrar, but I’m having trouble getting things updated with my website hosting provider. I’m hoping to have it resolved with their support team this week.
@@TheElevatorChannelIs it an actual website, or does it just redirect to your RUclips channel? I never tried to click on it before.
@@504RoadTrips It’s an actual website; just a little “about” page that I put together years back.
Nice to see you back on RUclips but the sound is terrible on this one compared with your prior stuff. I can't hear you!
Yeah, sorry about that. The mics are going on my iPhone 13. When I edited this round of videos I realized how bad it had gotten and started using an external mic. Everything going forward this year will be much better.
$245/night is budget?🤔
That hotel in 1984 was 120 a night then
San Diego… lol. Though in fairness, it was around $150 per night during our stay when anything else that looked decent was in excess of $200.
