  • I loved the architecture of this 1970s-era La Quinta, though it's overdue for a thorough renovation. At least it was clean.

That's what you get for an original property. Pretty much kept up in the important areas (curtain, I'd just use duct tape (electricians tape is so tacky, LOL)), but the bottom line is met. Room is clean. I'd sure consider this place.

Awesome video! It seems like the curtain and carpet are the biggest deals, plus the dirty comforter!😸

I stayed in an exterior corridor La Quinta in Euless, Texas in the mid 2000's. The access card was a mechanical plastic punch card. It worked. Room had an odd odor, but it was clean and no bugs. It was similarly aging. A few years later, a new internal corridor La Quinta opened blocks away, and this former La Quinta became a Quality Inn, lower on the scale. Today, it's a Motel 6.

Welcome to Tampa!!! I hope you enjoyed your time here!
Honestly this place seems pretty nice overall. I do agree the room definitely at the very least needs a new shower and tub, new paint, repairs and some TLC, but the Decor in the room while older actually doesn't look too bad. Of course though, a renovation with the new La Quinta decor package would be nice. But overall, this place doesn't seem bad at all, and I don't think you made a bad decision staying here. It seems well maintained and livable for the most part, it's just simply an old and worn motel, it doesn't seem sketchy or scary by any means, but I can definitely agree that it does show its age.

      Yeah. Atleast it’s clean.
La Quinta in general is one of the better Wyndham chains out there. Although I personally prefer Comfort Inns

Scheduled to be torn down soon...... Lol!!! Just saying IDK that for a fact. But it should be though. Yeah, I've stayed in my share of LaQuinta's in years past and the stories of each stay, most good, a few, well, you covered them. Thanks for sharing. Ken

This hotel gives me vibes of a La Quinta I stayed at near the Indianapolis International Airport, I remember that the room layout was nearly identical to that room except that hotel had interior corridors. As for the hotel itself I found it to be dubious at best. I remember I was sleeping and I noticed the mattress was covered in plastic, It was not until later the next morning that I confirmed that either this hotel has a problem with some of its "guests" or I got attacked by bedbugs, regardless I have always used this dubious night's stay as a warning to myself to steer clear of La Quinta Inns

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Jacksonville Beach Florida and the ceiling was low and the bed was comfortable and they’re breakfast wasn’t good. I got the view at the balcony. I might stay in Daytona Beach in February for nascar race but it gonna be expensive to stay in Daytona Beach.

I LOVE the old brick wall in the room, although it's kind of a weird layout, with the desk in the corner of the room next to the one bed. I guess it beats having the desk against the brick wall, where it would be uneven with the wall. I bet it felt weird being in a big Mazda CX-9 when you're traveling by yourself. Of course, with the rental car shortage right now, I guess it's just "take what we have available", not necessarily what you reserve.

I just went to the Eastern side of Florida to watch MARDI GRAS float into port! I stayed at DAYS INN in Melbourne, Florida. I would agree that Wyndam properties, while cheap and effective, aren't as kept up.

      - Baymont Inn
      - Quality Inn
Are midscale candidates that would probably fit a property like this.

Wyndham hotels are so gross... from their budget Super 8's to their high end Wyndham branded properties. They do not make the hotel management groups put investments back into their properties. I'm not trying to be bougee but damn, that property is in terrible shape.

Hotel alarm clocks need to go the way of the dodo. Everyone has a cell phone with a built in alarm clock these days. For those few that don’t, every hotel I’ve ever stayed in offered wake up calls. When I check into a hotel, the first thing I do is unplug the alarm clock. If I can’t access the outlet, I find some way to cover it up or turn it on its face so I’m not kept awake by green LEDs that are bright enough to read by.

    • @mattdude
      @mattdude 3 года назад +2

I don’t use the alarm clocks for the actual alarm function. I still like to see what time it is without having to look at my phone.
