It’s unbelievable to me how do many people are just finding out how good this band is. I’ve know it for over 35 years….like so many others. Hands down the most technically sound band ever assembled. Only 3 people. Three great guys to boot. Vital Signs is awesome. RIP Neil
Not my favorite Rush song, but definitely in my top five. Always thought it was a great change-of-pace from there other stuff. Especially on that album
The way Niel's drum kit shakes on this one shows how hard he hit and the kind of physical exertion it required to be as great as he was. What a monster, what a great musician.
it's as if he didn't know about the invention of microphones. i'm certain he'd have played longer (apart from the cancer) if he hadn't put all that unnecessary strain on his body.
When I was a kid I would replay Limelight, Red Barchetta, YYZ and Tom Sawyer from this album over and over, but it wasn't long before I was listening to The Camera Eye and Vital Signs way more, now those songs maybe more embedded in my head even more.
2024 vacation took us to Canada. We stayed in Hamilton, visited Lakeside Park in St. Catherin's (Neal has a pavilion in his honor in the park), went into Toronto and got to see the building on the front cover of Moving Pictures. Stopped and tried the Rush Beer and ended up in a record store, Play de Record, to find an original copy of A Farewell to Kings and 2112 on vinyl. Thank you to my wife and kids for letting me geek out! Oh, also got to see the Rush Star on the walk of fame. Really cool town.
A perfect masterpiece to end a perfect Rush album: "Moving Pictures". I always loved Vital Signs, and it sounds so amazing live. This is an incredible tribute to the three best musicians to ever perform. It comes to wonder that when you hear this very song, it sounds so much like the original studio record. This is why these guys are the greatest band ever. When "Moving Pictures" first came out in 1981, everybody knew how special this song was going to be along with the others on the same album, that were also blockbuster hits too. This must've been an incredible concert to experience. RIP Neil Peart, the greatest ever!!✝️🙏
R.I.P. dear old friend. There will never be another you. The joy you brought to me and all my friends' lives can't be measured. You were a muscian above all others a wordsmith that world poets wish they could be... Your imagination knew no boundries....your soul will know no limits. 💪❤💔
Live without a net PERFECTION. If you disagree, blame your older siblings or the mistakes you hung out with in high school. You will never see this level of talent again. Thanks internet!
@David Wilson Very nice! I saw them there 2 or 3 also. And Philly, Allentown shows. I live in scranton. First was Broome Co arena for Roll the Bones tour.
@David Wilson Do you remember the bar Tinks in Scranton? My buddy met Alex there one night. He was managing a local band. I'll check out your vids now!
@David Wilson I know some guys who are friends of the band. I'll have to find out how he got involved. Shoot me an email we can discuss more. Toom2112@gmail.com
there is just no way to measure the musical pleasure I have derived from these three gentlemen. There is just no way to fully thank them for the decades of joy they have provided to my ears and soul.
Fantastic song. Moving pictures is a gem from beginning to end. I wish this had more air time in the day. I've listened to this for 40 years and I still get something out of it every time.
I was at one of thier last shows at msg in nyc. Now I'm crying. Thank you my 3 knuckleheads for writing the soundtrack to all of our lives. Forever grateful.
RUSH is my all time favorite band! I started listening to them when I was 12 and I'm 43 now and they are still my favorite band. Simply awesome!! Never get tired of them. Such an original band. Such awesome musicianship.
Phil MaKrakin 2112 got me hooked. Been a fan ever since. I just turned 58. So regret that I never got to see them LIVE. Something always got in the way. I'd say "next tour" but now it looks like my next tour is never going to happen. I'm bummed that I likely missed out on the concert of my lifetime and I've seen a bunch.
Ever since Neil passed, and various other events, i have never listened to this song the same way. This is my absolute favorite RUSH song, so much emotion is behind this song, it brings me to tears.
The "Leave out the fiction" segment of this song until the chorus is something really special. I can't quite wrap my head around what I'm trying to say. It's just kind of perfect. The lyrics, the music and the mood of it are exceptional.
Been playing drums my whole life, have watched & met an enormity of famous drummers ...... in my opinion, key word opinion, there is nobody that scales the heights that Neil Peart can.
Never compromised, stayed true to their own hearts and creativity. A proper band, one of the all time greats. It’s impossible to live music and not like a Rush song.
I seen rush back in the early 80s in Cleveland, and Neil in a drum solo through a drum stick into the rafters while still playing and caught it perfectly, did it 3 times, at least 75 feet in the air, talk about incredible!!! I only saw them 3 times, but 3 of the best shows I've ever seen.
Ok, so, I got such a good laugh at 1:23 seeing the Rush fans doing the air-drumming bit (classic). And at 1:47 love the angle of Neil throwing/catching the drumstick... Thank the Lord for YT videos so that I can relive these wonderful memories!
Yeah but it reaches the point where the fans are parodying themselves. The fans are cringeworthy, like Slayer fans. Still it doesnt detract from the quality of the bands music. I will always avoid ever calling myself a Rush fan because those that do are usually dweebs, but I still appreciate most of their music. All the above criticism was etched in stone with that stupid "I love you man" bromance movie. Terrible movie men should only admit to seeing because they were forced to by their GF.
It's impossible not to even if you're not a drummer....just a rush fan :) When it gets to this part of the song, you have to do the air drumming, then you can go back to your favorite air instrument. It's like a choreography. Rush fans, always fun to watch
Neil Peart absolutely beats the shit outta his kit. No wonder the dude stopped touring. Sheesh! See those Roman symbols (cymbals, get it? Lol.)? He goes all Ides of March on 'em!
Has anyone ever done a deeper dive into Neil Peart's lyrics? New World Man? Closer to the heart. I think when one listens closely they will find the hidden jewel of the philosopher. YOU can be the captain and I will draw the charts. Perfect companionship.
I love the powerful virtuosity of all 3, but due to the fact I'm a guitarist, Alex is my favorite, most versatile guitarist in the world, whether balls out soloing or playing great chord work such as this :-)
All these guys are unmatched but Neil is on another level. His effort and execution was higher than imaginable. (4:25) for instance, he’s hitting so hard. Miss seeing this band live.
No way. It's extremely strained. His vocal performance on this concert video is one of his worse. All of the other video performances from their past concerts show how amazing he is. This simply doesn't, and sounds awful.
***** For the record Geddy was fighting a severe cold back in Apr 2011 when this was shot. This was just before they went over to Europe and he had such a severe ear infection that he had to get his ear drum popped right before the Montreal show. He called it the worst experience in 38 years of touring. So yea, I guess people should cut him some slack. He's also 62 years old.
In case there are any "up-start" dreamer garage musicians out there...WATCH THESE GUYS!! They're pro's PROS. Not many like them or left....TRUE MUSICIANS! GOD BLESS!
Boy, ain't that the truth. These guys are musician's musicians; tight as a unit, but loose together, like the best bands. I just can't say enough about how awesome they are... or were... :(
I couldn't agree more with your comment, brother. Not many bands are equipped to deliver their music live, like the studio releases. Rush are virtuosos in their respective disciplines.
One of the best Rush songs ever. Moving Pictures was so ahead of it's time in 1980 when I turned 10 yrs old. Mom bought me the album and it was played over and over and over and over and over and over. Chills to my spine then and now almost 40 years later. I've never seen them unfortunately. Had the chance but saw AC/DC instead in 1985. Grrr
in lifes journeys. Thankfully, for all of us! you all remained together to continue this legassy called RUSH. Neil bring your bike to NM for adventure ride
These three were always talented musicians, but at this stage in their careers, they were on a plane of excellence that few achieve. Clockwork Angels--their essential album, using essential in all its meanings--was in progress, and they took the time to bring everything they'd learned and all the growth they'd gone through by persistence together into this tour.
IMHO Neil was THE BEST drummer who ever lived, he was not only a drummer, he was a drumming technician, might be due to his Jazz background. His runs are never too loud, they are very fine tuned and precise. Geddy is also a bad-ass bass-man!
I would like to thank the cameramen/camerawomen who knew exactly what to film when they started playing. I have waited 40 years to see how they perform this song!!!
It’s scary how good this song is and how good Rush was.
I'm a bass player and I gotta tell ya.. Playing this song while singing... Only Geddy!!!
The only other person with this talent is McCartney !
@@sawthemin77Jack Bruce
James DeWar (Robin Trower). And DeWar had the best voice of all the bass playing vocalists.

Soulful
But this is a rush video

Possibly my very favorite Rush song.
+Cockriel D Same.
The Rush song i'd have on a deserted island on replay..
Not much point. though - there'd be nobody to hear it
lol
Me too! WE have weird Brainz...
This song is dreadfully underrated

Still doesn't do it for me
But... i keep on trying
Totally in agreement
Not my favorite Rush song, but definitely in my top five. Always thought it was a great change-of-pace from there other stuff. Especially on that album
I agree
@H.L. Merriweather one of neil's coolest lyrics
The way Niel's drum kit shakes on this one shows how hard he hit and the kind of physical exertion it required to be as great as he was. What a monster, what a great musician.
Takes a lot of confidence to be able to attack a drum kit that hard. Best ever.
Spot on. RIP Neil.
it's as if he didn't know about the invention of microphones. i'm certain he'd have played longer (apart from the cancer) if he hadn't put all that unnecessary strain on his body.
Just pounding those drums. Amazing.
I am not the first person to say this,
Neil hits those drums like they owe him money !

I know this is rather obvious, but Moving Pictures is one fine album. :)
Personal favorite, not one track is 'filler', all of them are awesome. o.O
It's friggin masterpiece!!! 7 songs... all brilliant!!

God, thank you for aligning the stars that night. These guy's were your best musical creation
And all of the angels in the cosmos replied- GLORY, GLORY, GLORY... to the Trinity and the Triumivirate!!

I love how Peart's drums rock while he is pounding them...
Such an underrated song!!
One of my favorite tracks, and Neil went into beast mode, lol... LONG LIVE 'RUSH' ;}
Yeah. I like the wobble he gets since he doesn't use a rack system. DW "floating" toms for the win!
1:23 everyone is playing airdrums hahaha
me too !!
Anibal Gonzalez it's impossible to not air drumming to Neil Peart
It's impossible not to even if you're not a drummer....just a rush fan :)
When it gets to this part of the song, you have to do the air drumming, then you can go back to your favorite air instrument. It's like a choreography.
Rush fans, always fun to watch
Some of his best drumming ever in this song ....at the end ...just incredible ..."The Professor" 💪❤
wow the bass sounds awesome in this performance
Ross Parker for sure... it's in my 'bass' song list
Ross Parker sounded pretty damn good live when we went.
Neil Peart absolutely beats the shit outta his kit. No wonder the dude stopped touring. Sheesh! See those Roman symbols (cymbals, get it? Lol.)? He goes all Ides of March on 'em!
+James Oberg Im always surprised he didn't use a rack system, but then its super awesome to see is gear swaying around like that.
I just feel bad for the skins. He pounds them like an expensive date that won't put out after all.....
James Oberg they’re Remo so he’s in good shape :-)
My favorite reggae ever! Fucking amazing !!! What a closing, Witch Hunt followed by this wonderful song !!!
The3 wisemen. Incredible teaching us through music a profound message in every song much more than we can ever learn in highschool thank you Rush

Wow, Geddy`s voice sounds amazing here!
I agree!!
No way. It's extremely strained. His vocal performance on this concert video is one of his worse. All of the other video performances from their past concerts show how amazing he is.

What a phenomenal tour!!! But then again weren't they all?
I Cant describe how this song makes me feel .........
RUSH WAS TOTALLY UNDERRATED IN THE 70'S AND 80'S...RIP MR. PEART💞
This song is like a call to arms, but instead a call to greatness.
