As a music fan of many genres, I really appreciate Rob Squad showing that they are really listening and understanding why we love all these bands with their reaction. Rush is so sophisticated musically and lyrically. I love watching new ears taking time to hear it. Great reaction Rob Squad. BTW, when I bought this album a couple years after it came out, I was captivated with it for months! Listening to the whole album over and over. Great song pick!
On top of that, y'all are finding songs I haven't listened to in many years, and stereo quality/technology has advanced so much, I'm hearing details in the music I had missed the first time around. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!
This was a treat. As a teenager I discovered Rush during their synth period, but the album I discovered was 2112. I bought their albums in no particular order, so I was being exposed to their early, pure rock period, their heavy prog period and their synth period all at once. It was like falling in love with three different bands. And when I finally had all the albums and could appreciate their work more fully -- all the places they had taken me, all the experiments they conducted, all the elements they pulled together -- I felt like there was no one else like them. Rush took a lot of risks. They even bet their careers on some of their high concept music. I'm sure they would have been successful playing three minute songs about women and cars, but they refused to compromise their visions. In the end they found unique and genuine sound and a loyal audience. That's something to admire! I love watching you discover them. Thank you for sharing that.
I did the same. My older sister had me listen to Moving Pictures and I was hooked. I got Archives for Christmas and saved up my allowance to collect their back catalog starting with Hemispheres. I coaxed my older brother to give me his copy of 2112!
I never stood a chance to even remotely dislike Rush because the band consists of my absolute favorite drummer/lyricist, my absolute favorite guitar player, and my absolute favorite bass player/synth player/vocalist.
You guys are more than ready to tackle Xanadu live at exit stage left and la villa strangiato live in 1978 Two of the most "how the hell are they doing all that?" examples of Rush
Another terrific Rush song. Someday you MUST react to the live version of “Marathon” off of the A Show of Hands album. I can put that version on repeat for a couple of hours. I loathe crowds, so I don’t do well at concerts, but I saw Rush in concert more than once. They were one of the best live bands, & seemed to honestly enjoy the stage.
I was already in the navy for several years when they first cut an album, it seems like yesterday. Their music was so far ahead of it's time@@konradkanuckle5920
@@brodyu.s.2254 Hey genius, almost 5000 children have been slaughtered in the name of Israel and genocide. But I know you already know this. "To the river to the sea, Palestine will be free." Get on the right side of history you POS. And have a nice day.
The device strapped to Neil in this video is a special recording device. The drum kit was not mic’ed up for a traditional recording. This device would not not record the sticks hitting the drums and cymbals but not record the resonance from inside the drum. That’s why the drum hits sound so crisp.
Another great reaction. RUSH is a perfect combo: musical talent, incredible lyrics and a great singer. RUSH are not radio friendly, they make their music to be heard. There is no need to rush to listen to RUSH. again great reaction. and my suggestion is to feel the RUSH power in "WORKING MAN LIVE IN CLEVELAND". Again great reaction
The best thing about Rush is the more you listen to a song, the better it gets! You cannot possibly absorb all the subtleties and messaging in the one hearing. Rush is timeless like classical music!
They really laid into the reggae vibe that that hinted at on the previous LP on this track. For a certified blues nut like Alex to pull off these skanky riffs is really quite amazing. Then the slow burn outro bringing in the keys and Pearts freak outs. Unique
The guitar work in the first 2 verses are so cool and perfect. He’s playing on the beat for 4 beats, then he plays on the OFF beat for 4 beats. Very simple and subtle but so effective!
I had the honor of seeing them three times in concert, once in Tulsa and twice in Oklahoma City. They were just awesome beyond words in concert. Three songs of theirs you need to react to are Mystic Rhythms, possibly the most mellow song they ever did, Roll the Bones, containing the only rap they ever did, and The Garden, the last song on the last album, which is possibly the best, deepest song they ever made. [Comment edited to correct autocorrect.]
Amber & Jay, here are some other great Rush songs to react to: "Anthem", "Bastille Day", "Lakeside Park", "A Passage to Bangkok", "A Farewell to Kings", "La Villa Strangiato", and "New World Man".
You two are blown away as I always was how only 3 guys can pound out such cool music and perform it seamlessly live!! Truly amazing....... Now No one can ever replace Rush, butThere is another newer band that idolized Rush and have some material that reminds me of Rush! BUT it is ONLY a 2 member group!! They are called Crownlands check out: Context: Fearless Pt. 1 The video is really cool too! Close your eyes and you will think it's new Rush material! And another powerful song with indigenous meaning is End of the Road Yes give Crownlands a listen 2 guys that will blow you away!!🎉🎉😊
I was lucky to see them on their Time Machine tour when they performed the entire Moving Pictures album from start to finish. That was (I think) the 30th anniversary of the album and they still sounded absolutely amazing.
This is one of my favorite songs . Rush is one of my all time favorite bands They are prog rock and were inspired heavily by the band YES. They were once known as rock of the nerds and book worms. Probably because they are all geniuses.
It’s 1:00 am. I just got home from the Orpheum Theater in Boston where I saw Geddy Lee for his “My Effin Life” book tour. It was a wonderful evening full of anecdotes and conversation and I had an incredible time. Seeing this reaction the minute I sat down was a nice surprise.
Song is an amazing finish to one of the greatest rock albums of all time... geddy's vocal fadeout to end the song, and ultimately the album, is so fitting and unreal!!
I watch many react vid channels but you guys are always my favorites! It’s very cool that you completely “get” Rush. Here’s one you’ve GOT to check out and I don’t think any of my peers would disagree. Natural Science from the Permanent Waves album 1980. The album just prior to Moving Pictures 1981 which Vital Signs was on. C’mon folks. You just GOTTA check that one out! Peace and be safe. Thanks (and btw, a live version would be fantastic, but for your first time hearing it, I recommend a version with the lyrics to follow- deep stuff…)
This is one of my favorite Rush songs despite it's a hidden gem and when you hear the sound with the lyrics it does say quite a lot about human nature. You both might want to check out 2 other Rush songs that get very little airplay which is "The Camera Eye", and "Witch Hunt", fun songs.
A tired mind become a shapeshifter Everybody need a mood lifter Everybody need reverse polarity Everybody got mixed feelings About the function and the form Everybody got to deviate from the norm
A few more Rush songs for your list: Force Ten, Roll the Bones, The Analog Kid, New World Man, The Big Money, Show Don't Tell, Red Sector A, Manhattan Project, Lock and Key, Finding My Way (off their first album), and Bastille Day. I could go on but these are some that get looked over because they have such a great catalog.
Neil speaks to us about the absolute need for perseverance and holding on to your truth and sense of self in this piece. "Leave out conditions, courageous convictions will drive the dream into existence" We are masters of our own destiny if we have the strength of purpose to follow our dreams.
So let's rewind back to 1980/1981 when this album was conceived. The Police and the concept of "white reggae" was huge throughout the UK and US. They needed an extra song and they just came up with this, the second use of reggae in the band's history (The Spirit of Radio was first). They went on to have another album (Signals) which has the most reggae/ska influence of all of their catalog and a few songs here and there later on (Distant Early Warning for example) with reggae beat/influence sections. Rush always has been a product of their environment. They pick up on current influences and make them Rushified
You guys really do a great job when diving into bands. This is a true fan favorite and a deep cut. I saw the time machine tour in two thousand ten i believe and they played this whole album. I like how you guys are getting deeper in their catalogue. You should check out subdivisions or new world man from their next album. New world man was their highest charting single.
Y'all PLEASE do 2112 if you haven't yet. I just found y'all and it makes me so happy to see others fall in love with RUSH! They're my favorite band, and Amber will LOVE 2112!
That's a repeating sequencer you hear throughout the song ( triggered by one them live). Neil is wearing an old school Montreal Expos to keep his head phones in place to mute out the sequencer. One of the few songs he has to play to a click track
I'm so glad you guys love Rush as much as I do. Another Rush song with a cool reggae vibe is "Digital Man." It has a KILLER bass solo. Do you hear me?!?
This song about the tweeds, the ganja....read. the. dang. lyrics. The reggae vibe is no coincidence. "Everybody got to elevate from the norm. An ounce of perception, a pound of obscure".....on and on....not JUST a weed song..but using the theme and effect to look at life from a different point of view....maybe even level of consciousness ✌😎😊
....I imagine the love'm or hate'm fans are for the "perfectionist" or "imperfectionist" types. But really... you can't argue the Bass, Drums, & Guitar talent... so it's lyrics n vocals they most likely despise.
Great song from an iconic album! Rush has so many different musical periods. Check out "Bravado" from their 1991 album "Roll The Bones". It's a little more melodic than many of their songs and I really like the lyrics.
"Some people don't like Rush."
Yes, and we refer to those people as "wrong".
That's awesome. I'll use that when given the chance.
Those people just don't like rock music genre and/or aren't smart enough to understand words that have 3 or more syllables.😂
My favourite is “rush are an acquired taste. Don’t like them? Acquire some taste then”
The immature don't like Rush
That's not our problem!

Underrated Rush song. Along with Distant Early Warning.
And BTW……..Neil was KILLING IT on the drum kit.
Always!
I was fortunate enough to catch Rush live twice during this era. Neil's lyrical gifts are untouched.
Can't go wrong with ANY RUSH song!!
not even Riverdale 😀
The entire Moving Pictures album is FIRE!!!!!!
Easily one of the top ten albums of all time!!!!!!
But that is just my opinion 👍🫡💪😘

That "Marathon" is peak Rush.
Everyone talks about Neil's drumming, and rightfully so. However, his lyric writing is just as impressive.
This album is 42 years old and it sounds like it was recorded yesterday. Moving Pictures is one banger of an album.
Wow, how old am I?

Masters of their craft. I have been a fan since my childhood when Permanent Waves was released. Love this band.
Best band ever!!! Nothing more to say.

"Mystic Rhythms"
@@MetalMcfly, I assure you, that was what I typed, but auto correct, well...
On addition to being the G.O.A.T. drummer, remember Neil was the primary lyricist for Rush.
Farcry and The Garden are some of their best songs. Please check them out

Rush has never produced a bad song.
Thought inspired lyrics about diverse subjects are a testament to the talent and creativity of Rush.
WHAT A GREAT SONG!!! RUSH FOREVER!!!🥁☮☘
The function and the form, indeed. Y'all have both, in high measure. Thanks for bringng this one out.👊🏽
As always, the genius lyricist/percussionist AKA "The professor". RIP Neil.
The band The Police was an influence on Rush during this period, and they put their spin on their reggae-vibe and it was magic!
Great song choice. They embraced reggae and new wave and were always on the cutting edge with working these elements into their music.

Most of Rush's songs after 2112 were written by Neal Peart. He was a poet at heart and an avid reader... way more talented than most ever appreciated.
There is no other band that had the musicality of Rush. Period

One of the best shows ever was Rush doing Moving Pictures live at Jones Beach amphitheater ❤❤
1981 Maple Leaf Gardens Toronto for me
The live version is even more epic... Keep up the good work! ❤️
Love Rush and Neil Peart wrote most of their songs 🎵 😊
Rush is in my top 3. So much sound from a 3 person band.
Almost certainly Rush's 'breakthrough' album commercially. Every track is an instant classic.

“Everybody’s got to deviate from the norm.”🔥🤘🏻
Spectacular drumming 😮
You can hear The Police influence in this song... especially Alex guitar work, ....so it's like a police song by Rush.
Never trust a rocker that didn't go through a Rush phase. I'm a drummer that bows to the god that is Rush.
