As some one who plays a high power Blanka deck I'm very pleased seeing how this deck is built in a more casual fashion. No matter how you build it that deck is fun 😍
Despite the outcome, I really enjoyed the Blanka deck the most. Always been a huge fan of commanders/decks that deal damage to the whole board and "spread the love" as it were. I'm not much of a Magic player anymore, but any time I get to see these kinds of decks is always nice.
Snake umbra just trigger happens if the creature it's attached to deals damage to a player, any kind of damage not just combat damage. And the trigger of her commander deal damage to players.
That blanka deck was super sweet. Gruul spellslinger... sort of. The Chun-li deck is one I have considered. you can do some weird things with her, like exiling Teferi's protection (there are strange ways to get it into the graveyard by making it a creature first and then killing it), meaning every time you attack, you phase out of the game, so noone can attack you ever, meaning, if your opponents have no alternative win cons, you win by default since they will draw out their deck before you do, because I assume you play some mill spells or X draw spells that target players, so force them to draw and then they die by default because they can't kill you so long as Chun-li gets to attack every turn. That is the only thing you need to make sure of, so a creature protection package needs to be there. But that sounds unfun to me, this looks fun though.

@@benkenning1699 Protection from everything means that nothing can damage you. It would require some effect that said "damage can't be prevented" to get the Commander damage to mark on the player who cast Teferi's Protection.
There's a lot of directions Chun *can* go, it just comes down to whether the amount of hoops you have to go through is feasible for any given strategy. You gotta have the card (Mystical Tutor every turn with Chun is pretty funny, but then you gotta bounce her and recast to multikick more), put it in the graveyard (Ledger Shredder is actually phenomenal for this, it was cool seeing it put in that work -- and would also work for Teferi's), cast Chun with multikicks, then *next* turn attack with her (hopefully with some form of protection) and have the mana available to cast the spells (and the timing of it makes a lot of the more fun 'untap your lands' instants less practical), and *then* have some sort of actual wincon on top of that. It's definitely a lot of fun, but it can be a lotta work, so if you aren't allowed to get your engine revving it feels real bad.
It has to be a 5c commander in order to put all fifteen in the deck... I was considering building Jodah Transformers some time ago, and still think about it from time to time. Sadly, Morophon's mana discount doesn't apply when casting the Transformers in their vehicle mode...
Extra Turns table view with cards on the sides and the frame, with Game Knights personality, mid game chatter and reaction shots would make this truly perfect.
Does anyone know why the Veil of Summer didn't cancel the Fierce Guardianship? I thought it made her spells uncounterabke that turn. Was it because of the stack?
It does if you pay for it. You have to pay all the costs for the spells you cast with Chun-Li which means you're allowed to pay alternative costs. You only don't get to overload if it says "without paying it's mana cost." like most cards that have a similar effect do.

This is definitely a weird line. I think I honestly just misspoke and said no when I meant nine. It was a complicated block ordering because I definitely wanted the Titan gone but not until after Losheel so he didn’t get the draw off of the token golems.
@@therachelweeks Ah that makes a lot of sense! Thanks for clarifying. I'm sure we've all misspoke when doing calculations before! My worst was dealing lethal damage to the wrong blocker and letting the other live, because I said the one I wanted to live. So couldn't even really taken it back because I just straight out said the wrong thing!
I would run them too. Play proxies. I find it much more fun to play with high power cards than having a slow game with a bunch of tapped lands. I do see the fun in playing jank and being creative with a budget as well. Abu duals are not game breaking by any means.
Why pop the esper sentinel and not pay if you were going to tutor for a land that remained untapped the entire turn cycle? Just tutor, pay the tax and then pop.
On a bit different topic: while illustrating deck tech or playing any chance to have a word on how to arrange lands? Meaning how many per type according to deck specs.
Man, Rachel is such a good deck builder and pilot. Great to have her on the show. Great showing from the rest of the gang too, especially spoilers The azorius control win at the end.
I have a question on regards Chun li. The text of the card says: "Whenever Chun Li attacks, copy each exiled card you own with a kick counter on it. You may cast the copies." The text do not specify that you can cast the spell for free, or that you have to cast them right there. With that in mind, I understand that you get a copy of each spell to be casted whenever you want (it doesn't specify that the copies fade at the end of the turn or something).
You are correct they are not free, you have to pay the mana cost. It works the other way around: Everything a card tells you to do or allows you do, you do right away unless the card says otherwise. So you do have to cast them right as the trigger is resolving.
Love to see Chun-Li bringing home the victory! I actively try to avoid playing Cyc Rift with her because people will get very salty from just one being cast. Getting hit by one over and over and over... Can't imagine that's a good feeling lol
this might be a dumb question but for commander damage. is it 21 damage from a particular commander or is it 21 damage collectively from all commaders in the game?
You only pay commander tax when casting from the command zone. Since Blanka was just bounced to Rachel's hand, she could cast him for his normal mana cost.

@@helderboymh Re-watch the part I linked to: "So Losheel and the Frog Lizard die in the first strike. The Triplicate Titan dies in the second one. And there's no damage on Blanka." It is very clearly stated Blanka has no damage after the Triplicate Titan has died (when it should have already dealt damage to Blanka).
@@andrewsparkes6275 yes thats how she says it, that's wrong, you're fully correct she's wrong in what she says. But shes not stupid, she knows the titan deals damage to Blanca.
Therefore I'm looking for what she could have meant.
She could have meant it like this: the titan dies in the second (and the Blanca survives the damage from the titan because) there is no damage on Blanca.
Didn't even realise til a few steps/phases later because clearing up the cards back to their normal non-combat places was messy and a everyone had a ton of pieces on the board, so I didn't immediately notice it still there and the one I wanted to live in the graveyard. So couldn't even really taken it back because I just straight out said the wrong thing!
Wished we could have seen more from Jake's deck! He could use a Morophon proxy as Primus to be on flavor
Enjoyed the episode. Wish Jake had piloted Optimus instead to be opposite of Megatron. Optimus can be a pretty resilient Voltron deck.
31:00 doesnt the copy of the grapeshot not count as a spell to trigger blancas ability? the same way with heroic?
Heroic specifics that the spell needs to be casts. Blanca just checks if it's being targeted by a spel.
@@helderboymh but its still a copy not a spell?
@@rubz8r089 it is! 706.10 .... A copy of a spell is itself a spell, even though it has no spell card associated with it.
Demonic Tutor, Dockside Extortionist, OG Duals - Great deckbuilding right there...
Seriously it was a pain to watch that.
I would run them too. Play proxies. I find it much more fun to play with high power cards than having a slow game with a bunch of tapped lands. I do see the fun in playing jank and being creative with a budget as well. Abu duals are not game breaking by any means.
ok ok... this is nitpicky (graet episode btw) but that ROUND 1 anouncement sounded more like Mortal Kombat hahaha
Fun episode 🤙🏾 cool to see the street fighter cards that went under the radar
Maybe that was precisely the reason for this episode... Sell cards that are not selling well.
Hecking love that new Extra Turns intro ❤
I think Rachel forgot the kessig interaction at the end, with the Storm effect of Grapeshot. Gurav should have dropped to 3, correct?
Timestamp 30:45
The copy isn't cast so messing doesn't trigger
Jake's casual "Death to Tyrants" was pretty funny ngl.
Why pop the esper sentinel and not pay if you were going to tutor for a land that remained untapped the entire turn cycle?
Just tutor, pay the tax and then pop.
I think my favorite thing is that Rachel's deck was under $300
It’s a stupid cheap deck, I think mine was under 100.
Yeah Blanka is probably one of the most powerful budget decks for Gruul, and it's a lot of fun to pilot. I think mine cost me about $150
I wish we could go back to simpler times, when Wizards built on its own lore. Now it just whores out it's game to other IPs for a quick buck.
It's a little strange to me that most people seem not to care. Instead of expanding and fleshing out the lore of MTG it is being washed away.
Okay but, opening with Guile's theme? Perfect.
been running a very similar list to Rachel's Blanka for a few months now and I gotta say that thing is WILD!
Video starts at 3:15
Street Fighter vs Transformers
Just like when I was 8 years old playing with my toys!
Loved that new updated intro and music this episode!
On a bit different topic: while illustrating deck tech or playing any chance to have a word on how to arrange lands? Meaning how many per type according to deck specs.
Man, Rachel is such a good deck builder and pilot. Great to have her on the show. Great showing from the rest of the gang too, especially spoilers
The azorius control win at the end.
This format of sf vs tf is awesome, a great change of pace to keep things fresh.
Dude. I love to watch Mason playing. I never forgot the "mother of runes" in a Russian accent
All the bonus points to the sound team for the transforming sound!
Rachel’s deck was a beast! Fitting I guess for Blanca.
That was a trash win by Gaurav... I HATE Cyclonic Rift!!
Chun-Li, Countless Rifts
The whole work was actually done by the card that taxes the opponents.
It was kind of boring tbh.
this might be a dumb question but for commander damage. is it 21 damage from a particular commander or is it 21 damage collectively from all commaders in the game?
Damage it tracked per commander.
I swear I think I still have whiplash from when Jake went with Morophon over Optimus.
I mean, I get it.
But still...
I appreciate Rachel sleeving Blanka in his "skin color" and having yellow for commander as the electricity , I see you.
Love Rachel. Best part of this game hands down. The Blanks deck is also amazing. I’ll be building this.
That was a great game! Gaurav really managed to barely pull the win out there; that was sick!
Flavor fail: You used the sound byte “Round 1, FIGHT!” from Mortal Kombat.
That manscaped ad was great
No one gonna say anything about the fact that they used the Mortal Kombat announcer 😭 (jk great video as always!!!)
Morophon is a lazy choice for me. Just pick one of the transformers and go for it.
25:59 Shouldn’t Blanka cost an extra two after it was destroyed once for a total cost of 5?
You only pay commander tax when casting from the command zone. Since Blanka was just bounced to Rachel's hand, she could cast him for his normal mana cost.
Makes sense thank you!
sweet game! i love the street fighter commanders tbh and it was great to see their designs stand out in this match!
What a boomer the Jake situation and the saddest dockside ever, nice match, I really love extra turns, you guys are definitely the best produced gameplay in the market
I mean there was zero reason to play that and not wait for it, using mana just for the sake of using it seems like a weird move by him
@@swrodgon he's essentially doing it get a treasure. Wich makes sense because he doesn't have land drops.
I think most pros would do the same. Since he wasn't gonna use that mana other wise and he has more cards in hand then he can cast.
When mana screwed.
Mana > cards in hand. Even if its mana you can only use once.
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? How is he able to cast both Submerge and Soul Partition AND overload Rift in the end? Shouldn't the total cost of that be 9? I only see 7 mana on board🤔
Submerge is free because Rachel has a forest. The other two spells both cost 2 less because of grand arbitrar and urza.
So total mana is 6.
@@helderboymh Thank you! So the forest was what I missed, now it makes sense :)
This is the matchup you never knew you wanted.
WOW ! what a game i thought you got it in the bag Rachel
Whoa! who would have ever thought being able to overload cyclonic rift every turn would be so powerful? 🤔
Street Fighter vs Transformers. I wonder where Spongebob and Ironman were that they missed this.
Evo Moment 37, entirely recreated in card game form, impressive.
Rachels 300 dollar deck casually wiping floor with 3 over 1000 dollar decks
