You guys are awesome. Your show is some of the best commander content on youtube. Great intros not to long but explains things well. Everything is easy to see. Good banter nobody gets too distracted and takes away from the game. I like the schedule and how you guys change things up each time. Keep up the great content. We need another episode with this set!!!
Like this comment to Riot for Jerry
🎶If you feel so empty
My sweet boy Jerry😢
We ride at dawn.
Havent watched yet, but im still ready to riot
RIOT RIOT RIOT
We need to riot now to protect our boy Jerry!
Another excellent game, thanks people!
Some real sweet looking decks again.
RIOT FOR JERRY
Be the kind of player that Alex is. When others steal your cards and are struggling to resolve everything, remind them of things they're missing. If the only reason you won is because a player missed a trigger due to the pressure of not wanting to waste everyone's time, then is that even a win?
i dont want to win off blunders. small punts or errors okay, but not striking blunders especially after playing for 1h
Well said! I ALWAYS remind opponents of their triggers.
I often remind my opponents of their triggers, but I won't tell them that they are missing a lethal attack if they don't notice :P
Yes it’s a win still. They should have remembered their triggers 😜
Just on Eluge, there were a few references to Eluge targeting your lands in this, but it can actually target your opponents. This doesn’t give you discounts, so doesn’t lean into this theme, but it does enable a few other brews.
I looked at the decklist and he actually does have a few islandwalk cards in the deck. Definitely interesting
I love how low sodium these episodes are. Delight to watch.
Love seeing the new brews guys! Been slowly adding the new handful of Bloomburrow cards into my current EDH decks!
I love how the games have banter, great decks and are generally a bit more digestible in length.
Cool game, though I was bummed to see each deck from last episode back except for Maha. Since it didn't get a good showing I'm hoping it makes another appearance soon!
Man that Eluge build is stronk!
I think the Leshrac steal helped. If there was no Leshrac, there would have been fewer lands stolen, which meant higher spells for the other Spikes. I'm not saying Eluge isn't stronk, it's KOS, but stealing the Leshrac helped immensely.
@@JustinNovack Totally, stealing Leshrac gave him a huge boost. Especially because the Leshrac effect actually synergized nicely with the blue deck's game plan, allowing it to cast its giant spells even earlier than usual.
I love shooting t1 sol rings. Jan is the man! Looking so much forward to more stuff from you guys!
Eluge is horrifying, what a card!
also at 22:49 - I think the camera is low-res here (and for a few shots before on Alex and Jim) because it's focused on the can thats sitting on the close side of the table (or just the camera was focusing on something else) 😆
#BlameAlex
I just want to say that Alexs voice is just so soothing. Please talk more Alex.
I'd like to represent a threat.... to guacamole.
Wow! I may need to reevaluate and not build something because it’s a whole lot stronger than I normally play
It's only that strong when you're playing those kinds of instant/sorceries. If you don't want the deck to do that, don't build it that way. Don't let a high power game stop you from building something cool in your own pod's power level.
@@meekumanu Thank you. I'll give my version a shot.
"Let's riot.." *looks directly at camera...
Y'all are awesome 🤙🏼😂 thnx for the awesome vids
I have no idea how he was going to stick the landing on that, but props on whatever that was Jerry was trying to do in the intro
damn jan thanks for reminding me about the limes meme.
i appreciate y'alls channel you do a good job with pace + explaining. it is nice that i dont have to pause 100 times in a video and read, just to understand what is going on.
Imagine if jim had was to blink and return his commander per turn. It would reduce his casting cost.
I could be wrong here but I believe that when herald of leshrac leaves play due to Jan dying, it's triggered ability does not resolve and the lands remain under Jim's control as per rule 800.4d If I'm wrong id love to be corrected
That's the correct rule, but because Jim controlled the permanent when Jan died, Jim controlled the Herald's LTB triggered ability on the stack.
I am a simple man. I see Ygra, Eater of Lasagna and I like
So we all agree that Eluge is absolutely one of those "kill on sight" commanders right? cause holy crap he kinda stupid
C'mon guys it's not *that* kind of Eluge deck...
Eh, Eluge is certainly good but not really stupid. It's really the extra-turn spells/control magic effects Jim drew in a row (the deck, not the commander). Eluge really just let him cast the first one a turn or two earlier than rate and there are a bunch of ways to do that (anyone who's ever played against Narset recognizes this pattern well). I think in general, I'd be a lot more worried about Cruelclaw being on the battlefield (but yes, if there's Eluge player with this type of deck you probably need to kill Eluge the turn after they cast it to delay them a couple turns and/or have counter magic up for an extra turn spell).
I plan on throwing Eluge into my Hakbal deck because the way I play it, I’m turning all my Sea creatures into merfolk and get the island walk
Well, you also don't HAVE to play Blatant Thievery, Expropriate, Flashback Blatant Thievery and in the meantime steal a Herald of Leshrac. This was supposed to be a high power pod, and I suppose Jimmy might have done mean things hadn't his Sol Ring been blown up. :D
i wanted to make it a islandwalk deck with some one sited board wipes. i fear the deck is going to get the "reputation" though.
holy CRAP Jim murdered the table. Definitely didn't expect Eluge to pop off that hard
I thought you had to have valid targets when the spell is put onto the stack before you pay costs, making the Leshrac play incorrect?
Necromancy doesn't target on the stack. It has an ETB trigger that targets.
@@TheSpikeFeeders yep, I was thinking of reanimate/reanimation in general. Thank you for correcting me! :)
-welp there was an entire segment after the game talking about this..... you guys have a phenomenal day...
i wasn't worried editor, i wanted to see extra turn spells! :3
Dang Jan, put the hat back on and give Alex his shirt back! 😂 JK
Great game guys, love the content and what y’all do
I used to use Retraced Image to add islands mid combo in High Tide in Legacy. I was never very good but the card kicked ass, turn 2 or 3 wins with force of will backup baby!
My eyeballs are thankful for the entertainment.
I was wondering for ygr eater of all do all the creatures stay with The food artifact creature type when in the grave yard? As long as it stays on the field? If so does that mean I could use a junk diver or another creature to retrieve normally a none artifact creature/food creature as a valid target?
I can't wait to put Eluge in my Xolatoyec deck! Also, ridiculous with Herald of Leshrac. Wow!
This is a riot for Jerry👍
Jim pitching the flood of Mars 😂😭
Retraced Image spotted! I love Retraced Image and Mitotic Manipulation in my big blue decks. Looking forward to playing this stupid fish (please forgive me Cruelclaw)
Thank you for the amazing content! Also the intro music is so good for Shadowrun!
Question, why not just scoop it up after the expro+thievery+flashback thievery+bribery? If I'd be playing I'd rather start a new game instead of 1 person playing for 20+ more minutes while everyone else just watches on the off 0,01% chance it becomes an actual game again. (And I say this as a player that is frequently in the 1 person's seat. I just ask "do you want to scoop it up and play a fresh one or play this out? I'm 99,9% sure I got this in the bag")
As Jerry's fan I am getting on Jan's case for hurting my poor boy. How dare. (What the hell is Eluge, that was disgusting.)
I knew before watching that Eluge will be insane
Wait, I need clarification, why is Thrull Parasite legal in Gev deck? Gev's color identity is Rakdos, Thrull Parasite's looks to be Orzhov
The hybrid w/b pip you see on the card isn't rules text, it's reminder text. That means that the card could reasonably be reprinted without the pip.
The rules don't look at reminder text when determining colour identity.
Jan how dare you hurt my poor boy
What is the counters they use for the flood counters called they look pretty awesome
We just printed off little slips of paper
Will there be any Flubs, The Fool gameplay coming up? Haven’t seen any anywhere despite being the most popular BLB commander on EDHRec
We don't have anything planned for Flubs between now and Duskmourn but if one of us really likes the deck that might change!
exort is legal in a rakdos deck ? she have a white symbole right ?
This is exactly what I want, high power fun!
I was expecting to see some Ygra big butt, but we got a mono blue that controls opponent's permanent. hahaha Nice play!
Jim's haircut looks great!
This set is so cracked i love it
Necromancy misplay, no? Its oracle text explicitly says “If you cast ~ at any time that a sorcery couldn’t have been cast” then you have to sac it at end of turn. Cruelclaw forces you to cast the Necromancy on combat damage, i.e. during combat, i.e. when a sorcery couldn’t have been cast. So the Herald of Leshrac wouldn’t have been able to stick around like that.
From Necromancy's rulings:
The sacrifice occurs only if you cast it using its own ability. If you cast it using some other effect (for example, if another effect allowed you to cast it as though it had flash), then it won't be sacrificed.
@@TheSpikeFeedersOh, great tech then! The ETB reanimate makes it such a good hit off of Cruelclaw. The new red MDFC land Pinnacle Monk is great for the same reason, pitching a spell to cast it and immediately get that spell back as the floor of the spell.
Necromancy should be gone right because it's not cast when sorcery can be cast?
Ruling on gatherer says that clause only applies if you cast it as an instant using its own ability. If some other effect lets you cast it when yoy can't play a sorcery it won't be sacrificed.
@@TheSpikeFeeders That's pretty cool gotta put it in my deck now
Talk about a one-sided game, I clicked on the video to see some Gev action and just watched a bloodbath 😂
I’d like to see Gev and ygra again. Maybe cruelclaw. The reanimator part of the deck was cool
Blatant thievery followed by expropriate is just brutal lmaooooo
These decks are delicious!!! In a really good but bad way 😂 how about a calamity beasts showdown 🤔
That game was brutal.
Mono blue is so much fun to play against!! Whenever anyone argues that I’ll direct them at this video in addition Baral gameplay.
Can a flood counter go on another players land?
Yes
Yes, but unlike Quicksilver Fountain there's no point doing that, since it only cares about floods in your lands and doesn't remove the land's other types.
Sets up creatures who have islandwalk tho
Jan technically could not have kept Herald of Leshrac around. Necromancy states that if it's cast at instant speed you sac at end of turn. Cruelclaw casts right then and there, so Necromancy doesn't quite work for that
I love these shows so much! I only wish you could play a best of three, especially when the other decks didn't get a chance to shine. Keep up the great work!
Legendary fish. I love this thing
Shouldn't Jan have sacrificed Necromancy at the end of the turn he played it? It says to sacrifice it if it was cast anytime you couldn't cast a sorcery, and I'm pretty sure Cruelclaw's ability happens in combat, right?
Final ruling on gatherer from 2022 when they updated it last is that text is linked to its ability to be cast at instant speed from itself. If another effect, like Cruelclaw, does the casting, no sacrifice.
@@alexmcgregor8658 Ah, thanks for explaining that, I was worried how much it had changed the game if that was the case, glad they knew what they were doing, lol.
Can you guys do a Baylen Haymaker deck next?
I opened Eluge on one of my prerelease price boosters and I thought like oh this might have potential. Good to see that I was right, even if I see to have underestimated that fish :D maybe because I’m to nice of a player. Haha.
Serious question why do you guy's write down the number of the land's?
It's a joke about competitive formats. You gain a slight edge by tracking information you know about cards in hidden zones. If you see a land in hand revealed and your opponent is running different land arts, then they play a different land for their next drop, you know that the land they showed you is still in hand.
Jim's got a nice haircut for this episode!
Interesting we got a “watchdogs” reference to compare to InFamous, and not Prototype. Guess I’m too old
Jerry tried to eat the food deck instead of cracking into the squire plus
I think this might be the grossest deck (compliment) that I've seen Jim play yet. Though grabbing the Herald definitely contributed to that.
it synergized so well with what he was already attempting
Jim in the intro: 😒😐😐😐🤨😃
Do it for jerry!!!!!!
Mono Blue deck went wild. GGs
is that a sneaky infamous vs watchdogs vidyagames reference
"Not yet full of guacamole"... Was this episode filmed before the last one???
This one was actually the first game of the next filming session! We film 4 in a day, so the last ep was after lunch and this one was before lunch.
Wow, nice of them to sponsor lunch two days in a row!
Necromancy should have been sacrificed at the end of the first turn it was in play. You cast it as part of the weasel's abiltity, which is a time that you couldnt have cast a Sorcery
According to the gatherer ruling, this doesn't apply if you cast it via another ability at instant speed.
That 30 minute commander video lol. This should be good :3
Also that flood of mars would probably have been helpful imo (nvm it probably would have not mattered at all)
Herald of Leshrac appreciation comment!
20:20 tapping the cryptolith fragment wasn't needed, damage was dealt in upkeep anyways
Bouta make me make a mini blue deck now
That is a beautifully salty deck, I can't wait to play it exactly once before shelving it in a gilded case.
I’m currently crafting ygra after getting it and camellia in pre release it was such a mean deck 😂
I hope everyone is ok after that trauma they suffered through
Great game!
These decks are super fun, love the games.
So while eluge is obv smaller since he has less lands Jim’s stuff wasn’t less discounted , from what I could read it just cares that lands have flood counters
Nope it's lands you control with flood counters
When are we gonna see these burritos???
"when i win, it's a destruction"
It's not a super unique or strong commander, but I am really trying to make a cool Helga, Skittish Seer deck. I liked her in the story and I haven't built this color combo before. I also like casting huge creatures, lol
Be excited for the Helga deck in Thursday's episode then.
@@alexmcgregor8658 ! -I am now excited for Thursday's episode, lol
I cannot express how badly I would not want to be a part of this game.
When I first saw Eluge, I was like great a new mono blue card to kill on sight and keep it dead until player is out of the game lol
Justice for Jerry RIOT NOW
This offense against Jerry will not STAND! We're all coming for you Jan!
I just wanna hear Alex say Burrito Splendido more often
but also RIOT FOR JERRY!
I was like "why not recast Expropriate"? Turns out the card's really balanced, exiles itself xD
RIOT! 🌵🔥
Bruh I dropped everything I was doing to be here
Eluge is everything people hate about blue players in one card. Dang.
Awesome game! Just a quick note: Jan's Necromancy play should not have worked that way. Necromancy's new wording (both as the new printing and oracled) no longer says "You may cast Necromancy as an instant. If you do, bury it at end of turn." Instead it says "If you cast Necromancy at any time a sorcery couldn't have been cast, sacrifice it [...]". The resolution of Cruelclaw's ability is not a moment where a sorcery could have been cast and thus Necromancy would have been sacrificed at the end of the turn.
Gatherer ruling
The sacrifice occurs only if you cast it using its own ability. If you cast it using some other effect (for example, if another effect allowed you to cast it as though it had flash), then it won't be sacrificed.
@@tomfirens1400 Yeah, just found that addon on Scryfall in the rulings below. That is honestly the most stupid way of wording it then... the way it is written now does explicitly say something else. *sigh*
Eluuuuuuge will be my next build!
i wanna see a sweet alania list so bad
We're no longer hard as a rock? :(
Eluge is strong but I think it looked a lot stronger because he gained control of 3 enemy permanents which wouldn't be as bad so early. But that guy had big cruelclaw triggers ancient copper and that thing that stole lands? That's a weird card btw lol. So it snowballed from there. It's a very strong commander and sorta staxy but I think it was the perfect storm because of permanents he got from cruelclaw player.
It always feels like Jerry gets picked on. lol
Who let jim cast expropriate?
