- I finally got an Apple Watch Ultra and it's a thing of beauty!
I've been a big fan of the Apple Watch Ultra from the initial release in 2022, but I wasn't in a position to purchase one at the time. However, when Apple launched the Ultra 2 in September 2023 I knew I had to take the plunge.
In this video I unbox the Watch and the Blue Alpine Loop strap, showing you the new recycled packaging for this Carbon Neutral product. I run through the technical specs, battery life, and options available for purchase. I also give you my initial first impressions and show you how it looks on my wrist.
I'm looking forward to creating lots of content for you on my channel about the Watch, including in-depth reviews on the Alpine and Trail loops, battery test, and putting it through it's paces on a run / hike. I'm also really interested to see how durable it is, and how it holds up against more rugged wear and tear.
Thanks for watching, and please subscribe.

I recently purchased an Ultra 2 and wanted to see how far I could stretch the battery life, in the event that I needed 'just battery' and no other options.
I was able to get 100 hours. Low power mode, night display, and that's all I had to do. Still had three minimal workouts, texts, calls, and it was fine.
Suffice it to say, that was impressive.
Yeah, I’ve been really impressed with mine too. The battery has been phenomenal. I haven’t been getting as long from it in the last few weeks because it’s been very cold, but on the whole I’m still getting the “advertised” battery life, if not more. It’s so good.
The Modular Ultra works with the Ultra 1. I get good use out of my Ultra. I went with orange Alpine Loop. Considering getting the Indigo and blue
The indigo / blue looks really nice. I was toying with getting it. But the blue / grey is just much more my aesthetic.
Could you please measure your wrist to know what size to buy ?
Hey, thanks for watching. Just measured my wrist and it’s 75mm. But I wouldn’t buy a band just based on that. I’d recommend measuring your own wrist and putting your wrist into the measure tool on the Apple Store app or website to see what size you should buy.
my husbang recieved his ultra 2, he got the small aplhine loop. sadly, its too small for him. that it's just so expensive to buy another one 😢😢😢😢
this is his 1st time having an apple watch.
Oh no. I’m sorry to hear that. Can you see about returning the band for a bigger size? You could also look at a sport loop. They’re cheaper, and the 45mm versions work with the Apple Watch Ultra
There’s the Midnight Sport Loop that gives two size options.
Does your watch auto dim in low light?
It switches to a red display in low light to make it easier to look at.
You are getting the medium alpine loop…may i know your exact wrist measurement? And where does the buckle position (bottom center perhaps?) on your wrist in a comfort/tight fitting?
Hey, I can’t remember what my exact wrist measurement is. I used a measuring tape to get it though. I have the clasp hook in the sixth loop down from the watch, and it sits very comfortably on my wrist.
Nice video to watch 😊
Was wondering as well what your wrist size is in mm. Because I like to buy the watch but I’m in doubt if it isn’t too big for my wrists.
PS: the watch is cheaper here in the Netherlands as well. It’s due to the current more favorable Euro/Dollar exchange rate, compared to last year.
Hey. Sorry, I missed this comment. 😔😔 thanks for watching. I just measured my wrist again, and it’s 75mm. I hope this helps if you haven’t already bought one. If you have, I hope you love it as much as I love mine!
Which series/size was your last model?
I had the series 6 45mm. The Ultra 2 is a massive jump in performance.
Your strap is too small, the hook should be on the side of your wrist not the bottom, to scratch whatever it rests on, and smack your watch face.
It seems fine to me… It’s the size that Apple recommended. The strap is really comfortable, it doesn’t smack off my watch face at all when I take it on & off. From all of the promotional material Apple have online, it looks like my hook sits in roughly the same spot. So I reckon I’ve got the right size for my wrist. Thanks for watching!
@@ronanhutchinson ok, i watched a few other reviewers and they were saying don’t get this strap because it scratches their table, and keyboard.
Their hook was also on the bottom… but nice…
Are you still liking your awu?
Ah ok, I can see how that could happen actually. I wear mine with the hook in the 6th loop down from the Apple Watch and it's perfect. The hook sits off centre, so when I'm resting my wrists on the desk while I'm working, it almost never makes contact with my desk or keyboard.
I am LOVING my Apple Watch Ultra! It's the best Apple Watch I've ever used! I find I'm interacting with it much more than my previous watches, and I'm using my phone less.

Nice to hear, i am still waiting on mine to arrive in the mail… i got the olive alpine.
Is the wayfinder face still available on the Ultra2?
@sprinkleddonuts6094 nice! I think you’re gonna love it! Yeah the Wayfinder watch face is still there. It’s really nice, but I prefer modular ultra. That’s what I’ve mostly been using.
🤙🏼👌🏼👌🏼🤙🏼
It’s such a great watch! I love it
