Bought my ultra with oceanic midnight and just loving it. You can just wear it on and on day and night, inside outside water. No sweat issue and it is super comfortable.
I’ve the trail band and it’s a keeper. I really prefer the ease of quick adjustments. Good review especially because they are a bit expensive to try out on my own. Very helpful!
Longevity won‘t be a problem for the Trail Loop. I‘ve been using my Nike Sport Loop for almost 6 years now for running and workouts. I don‘t use the Apple Watch as an everyday watch, but they have proven to be very solid.
Bought my Ultra with the green Alpine Loop and love it! It took a few days to get used to it but now it is super easy to take on and off. Also, I just ordered the midnight Ocean band today from Apple because of its looks, material, and waterproof properties 💧 Three week update: the Ocean Band is fantastic as well! It is very comfortable and looks great. I love both bands but if I have to choose I would say that the Alpine Loop, is my favorite ❤️ It fits absolutely perfectly and the khaki green is my favorite color 🤩
I got the black Trail Loop and although it's a very nice band I'm not using it. I instead purchased a Nereides ND60 rugged series nylon band, which is wider then the Trail Loop and simply looks more aggressive to match the aggressive look of the Ultra. Then I grabbed the Apple Brown Leather band I had used with my Watch 6 and OMG it matches the Ultra perfectly! I cannot stress enough how good this brown leather band looks on the Ultra! So now I'm using the Nereides nylon band when I'm working out, working in the yard, and generally doing anything everyday. I use the leather band when I want my Ultra to look upscale and it will go with anything from polo and slacks to a suit.
I have ocean yellow and the orange G hook, honestly, I love the G hook. I think it has a certain “EDC” look to it….I’ve done loads of running in it and have found it still looks great. Jump in the shower with it on and it’s clean again. Was it worth the £99 I paid for it….probably not…….but It looks very cool!
I have a couple of the Velcro bands from Apple from older Apple watches, and they last forever, I even pulled one out for my Ultra to swap out the Alpine band. I think they’ll last longer than you’ll be inclined to keep them.
I got my watch with the alpine loop, which is cool but only for a regular daily use. I am a swimmer, i go swim 3 times at week and I also got the ocean band, and thats great! I also find out that a regular sport loop is great with the ultra, and has great value for sports!
I ordered the trail band. I love my Series 6 trail band and am currently using it on my Ultra, but I would like to use the trail band designed for the Ultra.
The trail band is basically a sport loop sold for double the price because it’s marketed as a band specifically for the ultra, I don’t see any additional features or better quality that make it worth the price. I love my sport loop, it’s just so versatile and comfortable and you can dress it up or wear it when working out, easily clean it with some water (it actually dries pretty quickly) and the velcro’s hold up just fine like others have said. It’s really worth its price for the quality over cheaper knock-off bands.
Bought the white ocean band. Love it. Has the same always dry easy to clean surface of the sport bands of older watches, but has a special look and great secure fit
The orange loop is very comfortable after it is broken in and the hook gets easier to use with time. Will be interesting to see how it holds over time.
Really enjoying this Apple Watch videos, you've done a great job with them. Glad to see you aren't letting the Apple haters deter you from making them, and you should be unapologetic about Apple coverage growing your channel. You mentioned in a recent podcast that you might start talking about other types of gear like running vest, etc. I think that would be a great idea, in addition to the "tech" you already talk about. I have both the Apple Watch Ultra and the Garmin Epix 2... the Ultra can not replace the Epix when it comes down to activities, and the Garmin Connect platform is just amazing with its health and fitness tracking. However, the Ultra is just the greatest Apple Watch with its more premium design, longer battery life, sapphire screen, and second-to-none "Smartwatch" features. So yeah, I like them both enough to wear them both all the time. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
Hey thanks for the kind words and for tuning into the Pod! I'm just making the content I want to make right now... Can't fault me for that! Wearing the Ultra and Epix makes you realize how far tech has come. They both represent the best of the best in both categories I feel like. The Ultra is an absolutely incredible smartwatch. The Epix is an amazing Sportwatch that almost bridges the gap into Smartwatch territory! Thanks for watching!
Seems like the Ocean Band is the best all-rounder - you can wear it regardless of what you're doing. I'm starting to swim, so I need something that won't be gross if I take it underwater.
Regarding the trail loop and durability - I’m still using a Watch series 4 with the sport loop and the band/Velcro has held up to removing/putting it back on every day for the last 4 years; trail loop should do just fine 😅 it’s my favorite band too
I bought the orange Alpine band and really like it. Definitely attracts the dirt though. No problems with the fitment, but need to be careful not to let the metal clasp hit the Ultra. Have a black sport loop on order.
I tried the Alpine Loop and sent it back. To much hassle putting it on and taking it off. I also worried about the material wearing quickly with the G hook. I have the Trail Loop and Ocean also and I love them both!
I need the small band with the trail loop. But once the watch is on, after a minute, I don’t feel it at all. I like it. That accent stitch prevents the end of the band from coming out of the slot. Even a tough pull doesn’t do it. It hasn’t gotten dirty yet. At some point I’m going to try my black stainless Apple bracelet I’ve been using for seven years now, in my shops, and everywhere else. About price, they do seen expensive, but compare them to the bands that come with the new Google Pixel watch which cost $60, and are described as poorly made with cheap material.
The ocean band at $99 is a little more acceptable because the loop and buckle are titanium. The rest it is what it is. And btw the best looking d most comfortable band is the rubber solo loops for the regular Apple Watch used on. The Ultra.
On a small note if you notice that apple changes the screen size of the watch obviously and doesn’t temper with the flexibility of band mechanism so hence the reason why the these bands can fit.
I got alpine loop and ocean band. First try at Apple Store I’m not sure which one I like. After daily use I like alpine loop because it light, comfortable and not too hot during wear.
Waiting for the trail band. For now loving the ocean band (got the white one thanks to an opps of tmobile but kind of like it now), anyone else blowing the band like a nintendo cassete after wash? haha
I bought the alpine loop with my watch and I like it. Getting it on in the dark is a pain though. I bought a knock off trail loop though and its more comfortable and I don't care if it gets dirty since it was only $10. I'll probably by a genuine apple trail loop in the future though.
Not going to lie... my favorite has been one not getting any mention on youtube, the JFdragon titanium one, not sure how great the titanium is... but it's been a week and it hasn't scratched much only in subtle places... And the glow in the dark orange paint is cool ... though it only works in very specific no natural light situations.
Thanks for sharing! I have a titanium band as well but it's not super comfortable or practical from a sports standpoint. How do you find the HR accuracy with that band?
Got ocean band for wifey, but she likes none of the bands. Good thing we can use regular apple watch bands for the 44-45mm watches. Its the only watch with some decent battery so ultra is only option.
Thanks for posting this! My favorite looking is the alpine band. Love it. When it came out I was least interested in the ocean band. I ended up picking one up and now I love the ocean band. Looks great, super comfortable and I think the most durable. I’ll still switch them out but my daily driver is probably the ocean band and the green alpine band mixed in
So I am looking in upgrading my Apple Watch to an ultra and having a hard time picking a band. I typically go to the gym and lift weights and I do go freshwater fishing pretty frequently. Any recommendations?
Braided solo is great, extremely comfortable and no clasp on the back to worry about scratching things! Mine seems to loosen up slightly over time, but after washing it, it seems to tighten up again.
Take a look at the Bellroy watch band, I had one on a series 6 and transferred it to an ultra, is extremely durable and has aged very, very well. Much better than the Apple options IMHO.
Please tell me, in the evening my hand gets tired of the apple watch, because there is a convex glass, it presses the brush during the day, I can’t sleep in them, I had many Casio watches and my hand didn’t get tired there, I could not shoot for a month watch. How does it feel on apple watch ultra, does the glass on the back stick out less?
orange alpine for me. I am a backpacker and trail runner. I like the different look of the band, and love the orange. I’ll probably pick up the ocean and trail bands as well at some point. Maybe knock off versions.
First and foremost amazing video again. Solid explanation and work on the video except the ending of the outro needs a tweak. Sounds like archaic Mario where you are in the bleeding edge
Hi. Nice video. Can you comment on the tendency of the orange alpine loop show dirt? My light colored one (almost white) seems to show dirt easily. Thanks!!!
I chose the alpine loop for my Ultra. I like it, but added an Amazon Ocean strap. Maybe some day, it will go diving with me! The Apple straps are ridiculously overpriced.😨
I didn’t like the alpine loop at first but after flipping it like the way you had it I like it more lol it really holds on to my wrist and stays where I tightened it pretty well especially when I get really sweaty👌🏼I still might try out the trail loop later down the line but for now I’ll stick with the alpine loop with my midnight solo loop for my AWU👍🏼
I bought the ultra and they only had the ocean band. My biggest complaint with the band is it leaves the band imprint on my arm. I like the alpine and the trail ones, but I don’t like nylon as I agree it soaks up liquid and it’s a no for me.
I got the M/L trail loop grey/black with my Ultra. My wrist is 175-180 mm and this size fits very well. Also the combo with the Ultra is just perfect. The wear comfort is brilliant! 👍🏻👍🏻
I have the Alpine Loop... and I'm not a fan. I much prefer the Nike Sport Bands and that's what I use most days. I'd like to try the Trail Loop... but we'll see if I end up liking that or not
Thanks Dave! Great review. Thinking about picking up the AWU and still can’t decide which band. Do you like the AWU enough to own one and use it on a normal basis? Or are you sticking with Garmin or Coros for normal use?
Both are awesome platforms it really depends on your use case. For me, I'll likely continue to use Garmin because I have a lot of historical data in Connect but I do enjoy wearing the Ultra for day to day use.
I realized after watching your video that I put the trail loop on the opposite way, but that’s the way that was recommended for the Nike and previous sport loops. Interesting that Apple has you do it the opposite way with this band…maybe to keep the pull tab out of the way?
Currently deeply annoyed that I ordered the S/M trail loop instead of the larger one. I think the sizing on these is extremely conservative - and because I'm in NZ, I have to return my entire watch and order a new one to get the band size I actually need. Buyer beware if you don't have Apple retail stores close to where you live!
Good review, as always, but no mention of the exuberant , and in my opinion, unjustified price of these bands. Apple is charging twice as much for these plastic bands compared to previous bands made from the same material! Why is that? Why pay over $100 for a band which probably costs $10 to manufacture? Shocking!!
I do mention the price near the end. They're certainly pricey compared to third party options for under $20. I recently got a 3 pack of really nice loops for $8 total!
I think Apple took a big swing and a miss on both the trail loop and the alpine loop. Just give us a silicone option. These are both gonna get trashed if you use your Ultra for outdoor sports.
These 100 trail loop bands seem the same as the Nike Velcro band. Save $50 and get the Nike version Velcro band. I can’t imagine there is any difference other than the quick adjust loop, it was never hard to adjust without that loop.
@@ChaseTheSummit I think the little pieces of metal on the trail look are not worth the $50 extra. The Nike Velcro loop is nice because the end piece won’t pull through like the trail loop possibly could because of a hard piece of plastic on the end. I have a few knock of bands I tried on the ultra and they worked very well. If you know someone who has a band like that give it a run or two and I think you’d like it.
I bought mine with a Trail Loop, and I've got an old Sport loop, and I like both. They are very similar, and both are very comfortable.

Great vid, it was also great that you compared it with older watches
For me Ocean Band is the one to go! It drys very fast and it is so comfortable
I do like the "traditional" band clasp. It's much easier to get on and off! The trail band wins for me though. Thanks for watching!
The hook and loop Nike band on my series 5 is still going strong after some years of daily use. I don't doubt that the Trail band will keep well.
That orange really looks good
It does!
Bought my Ultra with the green Alpine Loop and love it! It took a few days to get used to it but now it is super easy to take on and off. Also, I just ordered the midnight Ocean band today from Apple because of its looks, material, and waterproof properties 💧

I do mention the price near the end. They're certainly pricey compared to third party options for under $20. I recently got a 3 pack of really nice loops for $8 total!
I hate the G hook on the alpine strap. Nomad make great straps for them.
Do you have plan to review Huawei watch 3 Pro?
It’s on the list but the list is long!
How does the forerunner 955 compare size wise?
Similar foot print, but the 955 is much lighter and feels lower profile.
They look similar though the Trail Band does have the bit's of titanium at the end where it attaches to the watch. Is that worth $50? 🤔
Dude trying to cut off his hand with how tight he’s pulling those watches 😂
Gotta be tight if you want good HR accuracy!
@@ChaseTheSummit Trueee! Worth the risk of losing a hand IMO
Great video! I have a trail loop on order. My wrist is 170mm. Do I get the S/M or the M/L? On the fence.
My wrist is 165 so I think you'd be OK with the S/M like I had in this video.
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks! I ordered the M/L but started to rethink it after watching your video.
