Thank you so much for this comparison! I have a full set of Sennelier, and I'm struggling with an online class where the professor only uses Winsor & Newton. The pigments are quite different in both brands and it can get really confusing, but your video really helped me understand how I should match the suggested colours with what I have. Thank you for your hard work!

    Thank you for swatching!
I think the Winsor & Newton watercolors have their place.
Which one to pick would be hard because... I don't buy sets anymore. Maybe I would get some Winsor & Newton paints and this Dioxazine Purple by Sennelier and be happy.
I always go for the vibrant colors in the spectral range and tone them down if I need a different shade of a specific color. I don't think Sennelier is a bad brand at all. It's just a different way to paint with them. It shines more in the layering technique. But both of them are really great at it.

Aww thank you for watching the video. I agree, With you - they all have their place and overall are great paints. I think for me, I’m more used to the W&N as I’ve used them the most. However, since I’ve been doing these videos, I’ve grown to love the Sennelier. I did I lovely painting (in my opinion lol) with them that had lots of layers 😊

Hola 😊 yo tengo una paleta de 26. De. Daniel smit. Seguidora nueva. Para siempre

Nice video! I have heard Windsor & Newton can dry hard and are difficult to rewet. I think honey based paints don’t have this problem. I have used Sennelier and they are always easy to rewet. I enjoy painting with them and they glaze beautifully! But I thought in your video some of the W&N colours were more intense.

I use W/N all of the time- both pan and tube- and don't find them hard to re-wet. Of course they are "harder" than the honey-based brands but some people find those too wet. I use both but you do have to get used to the differences in how they handle

Really enjoyed this. I watch quite a few of these types of videos (I find them quite soothing too - lol!) and yours are lovely. As many of them are North American based, there are not so many Winsor and Newton ones (which are most of my current paints) - and where there are, w&n often gets a bit of a bad rap, I think partly because they are so expensive there, and so expectations of their performance are so much higher.

Aww thank you for watching my videos, I’m so pleased that you found them enjoyable - this comment has made my day 😊.
I understand that W&N are expensive anywhere other than the UK, I have also noticed that a lot of people dislike them. I think it all comes down to personal preference, I really like them as I feel I have more control and some of the pigments feel more ‘earth tone’ than some of there counterparts but that’s just my personal opinion and the way I view them. Other people may disagree with me and that’s okay, as the saying goes ‘if we all liked the same thing, the world would be a very boring place’.

Do you know if there is a brand managed to beat winsor & newton with creating art suppliers with better quality?

Lol I think that’s a difficult question for anyone to answer, really all the paints are amazing and have their places. I’m just used to using Winsor and Newton and feel more comfortable with them. I do really like QoR and Sennelier as well though 😊

Hey, thank you for watching the video. I have got my Mission Gold set, I’ve poured them into half pans and just waiting for them to dry out. They should be dry by next week and I’ll do a first thoughts video and then I’ll compare them to my other paints.
Oh thank you for the recommendation, I’ll look into getting them 😊
