@google Compared to the Pixel 3, the fourth family has only one selfie camera and autofocus has been removed from it, this is a minus, why remove it, what works better? The question is open! Everyone puts ultra-wide-angle cameras on smartphones, but Google thinks that zoom is more important to users - that's why the Pixel 4 just has a dual camera with the zoom that Apple has had since 2016, although Google insisted that they did not need a second camera for optical zoom, each year they contradict themselves. Next year, they will add a third ultra-wide camera and a self-focusing camera with autofocus. Maybe the main camera in Pixel 4 is very good and it is slightly better than in the previous generation, but it would have been earlier if Apple had not worked out its deep fusion and night mode as it should on iPhone 11, in pixel 4 there is no such separation from competitors as was earlier in comparison with pixel 2-3 versions, competitors worked out software algorithms. The video, as it was 4K 30 frames, remained, the competitors already have 4K 60 frames on the front camera, but what the hell is Google? put another sensor that can record 4K video 60 frames, purely for video, if the IMX 363 is so good for the photo part, leave it too, there is only two cameras in the back, and on the front, put the sensor up to 4K 60 frames, the prices are almost the same same as Apple, but in the aggregate and in general worse!

I think you should check yourselves the ultra wide on iphone and you will see that you are not missing out on anything.i am luvky enough to have the oportunity to see other phones and i can definetly say that samsungs ultra wide is better.iphone s ultra wide is so noisy and distorted.whenever you see a reviewer that iphone has a very good ultra would suggest to see it in person.i think even the p30 pro has a better ultta than iphones.

As an 11 pro owner the Pixel 4’s dynamic range is extremely respectable. Even with the noise it might introduce because it still has more detail in darker spots. Good to see google has done it again and has brought a stunning camera once again at a lower price point. Cheers.

I watched this on a 4K LG OLED. In the front facing camera test the pixel legitimately looks sharper in 1080p than the iPhone's 4k.

Pixel winning is subjective coz iphone has natural looking photos and pixel has contrasty photos also i prefer less noise in my photo to visible small shadows. Though one thing pixel does beter is potrait mode.
Well i mean some of the iphone pics are better for me (i had the pixel 2xl, wanted to switch to 4xl but didnt convince me, ended up buying the pro max...) i love photography so i dont mind post editing if i take a nice pic. And then it will look the same if not better than the pixel. At the end of the day u get used to the pics your phone make so its up to you. This year iphone is better overall

Off rip Pixel 4 video and audio quality is light years ahead of iPhone, iPhone sounds HORRIBLE. PIXEL 4 is way clearer with better quality, even though it's closer, the quality is sharper and focused on the trailer none wants to see all that mess around your head, ultra wide is pointless with no quality.

I think we can sometimes tend to loose sight of what Google mission with the Pixel line of phones. With so many phones being introduced on a consistent bases it's easy to compare or want to compare them. But Google's mission is to show case A.I. and its own software because Google makes money on ANY smartphone sale with the exception of the iPhone, which Google considers it main competition. Google is not producing the Pixel line to compete against OnePlus or any other flagship Android phone because Google owns Android! So when you choose to buy a OnePlus instead of the Pixel phone Google still says "thank you" you just bought an Android phone!!!. The Pixel should really only be compared to the iPhone because Google is targeting current iPhone users not other Android users. So buy that Samsung, or OnePlus or any other Android Phone... guess what...you just bought a Google phone anyway...you just don't get the benefit of experiencing Android at its best which is what the Pixel line of phones is about... Android untainted..

That rear camera video must be a software issue, it's crazy how poor those colours are, and yet they're so much better in the slow mo? Fix those colours and it's far closer. Photos are still where the pixel shines though

A feature that I have been finding is important to some and not to others. Should Google of added a wide angle, probably, but to me it's not that big a deal. I can't stand iOS and love pure Android without all the mod other manufactures do.

Jason Cardoza pixel photo have this unrealism affect on them and sometimes their colour is off. Deep fusion makes a difference and from what i have seen the iphone has the edge in most photo’s. Even mkhbd said if he had to chose he would pick the iphone and he’s a pixel fan. Also low light too much noise on the pixel.

I don't think google nailed it this time. there's no consistency in the photos. Some looks good some not unlike pixel 3 last year.
Dynamic range: sometimes I thought that the Pixel over-worked the dynamic range in such a way that it looked un-natural. Yes, the shadows in the iPhone images looked pretty dark, but you don't expect to see all the details in the shadow areas.
Yeah they seem to overcook the shadows straight out of the camera on the pixel. Just looks too muddy and noisy imo, Apple made the right choice to expose the blacks properly (and give the option to brighten them up in the editor).
But this can also be adjusted real-time in the viewfinder.

At 5:30 how can you give a "slight edge" to the Pixel 4 for dynamic range just because you can see the details in the door? There's loads of noise everywhere, the colors are off and the iPhone has more sharper details. The pixel looks like someone turned the contrast up too high. That's not a better looking photo. If she had to choose one to put on your social media, I'm sure the lady in the photo would choose the iPhone's shot.
(I didn't mention the lens flare because those things happen sometimes)

remember a while back when most phones seemed to provide a bit more realistic colors in a lot of situations compared to the iphone? When all the iphone's pictures were more yellow/orange tinted. I wonder why recently that seems to have flipped, and now iphones seem to have clearer white balance and a lot of other phones are more punchy and colorful. I gotta say, personally I actually wish there was an in between. If only there was a phone that could make up for the advantages and drawbacks of the competitors...

Pixel looks way better in stills. I've seen full res imgs online and it wins 80-90% of the time. Color / white balance and exposure.
iPhone has better video quality, pretty much at the top of its class in this regard.
As an iPhone user and currently rocking the 11 pro max this video puts a giant joker like grin on my face . After this go watch mkbhd’s and supesafs camera comparison . Especially if you are iPhone user . It crushed the pixel in their VERY in depth comparison . So happy I decided to stay with Apple this year when I was seriously considering android . Love both OS . But for me camera is the most important thing as I take a ton of pictures for pleasure and work . Living in NYC this phone just makes sense compared to the pixel . I can pull it out , point, shoot and feel great about the picture quality .
Oh and video is probsvly more important to most people these days . People get bored staring at your stills on social media . We all enjoy a good video and you are lying if you say otherwise . Depends what you value more. Pixel is more like an iGoogle phone now, but with less cameras. S10 could be more versatile but you’ll have to like their camera processing or else shoot in raw

Google is always a step backwards the camera setup.They released the Pixel 2 against the iPhone X which has dual rear camera setup. This year everyone moved to 3 rear lens, Google is doing 2 but with tele lens. They needed that lens for improved portrait depth mapping and of course zoom.
8:27 the iPhone put too much focus on the interior of the building, whereas the Pixel focused on the interior and exterior. Not only can you see the balcony in the bg, you can see the signage clearly on the face of the building. iPhone tends to fix it's focus on the subject more then the overall picture in these instances. Just like with the photos of the girl with the pom pom hat, the Pixel got the details of the pom pom right but it blurred out the few hairs between her neck and hair. The iPhone tried to keep those hairs in focus by not blurring them out but instead blurred out the pom pom. Both have those strengths and weaknesses.

So...did you use the camera modes HDR, deep fusion, or dark mode? Arguably all three is more important then basic photography modes.
90% of people just point and shoot. thats what I did with both cameras. Deep fusion is still in beta not worth testing until final. Night sight was used and same with night mode on the iPhone
Whenever I watched camera comparison of any flagship phone with Pixel, I've always found Pixel 3 and now 4 stands out clearly ahead of other phones at least in front or rear camera still photos, including low light & night sight photos.Here, again Pixel 4 is better.

5:38 - iPhone is a much better picture. Look at the bricks behind. The door is also more details. I feel like many people translate any shadow as "crashed blacks", some shadows are meant to be shadows and you should not try to bring out details where they are not supposed to be.

I think the iPhone keeping the shadows on the shed photo is more realistic and dramatic. Just because you can see the shaded leaves doesn't mean you should.
The color science is also better in the iPhone even though it didn't focus on the details of the brick wall in the background.
IMO the iPhone had the better of the two photos there.

Each has its pros and cons. But if j was strictly buying a phone for the camera it's a tough call. Really have to weight out the importance of video, night shots and portrait shots to make a decision and even then it's a slim difference overall.

Great comparison. Was shocked the video from the front camera was slightly more stable on the Pixel, hopefully Google can fix the rear video with some software updates. That was rubbish compared to the iphone. Overall, I agree that Pixel won most of the stills but there's nothing in it and a lot will be up to personal preferance. Apple did well this year. Will you be testing out the Pixel's astro photography features?

no argument with that, I prefer the Pixel myself I'm on Pixel 3a, 90hz refresh with that small 2800 is the only reason I didn't get it, and the sound of the front facing camera from the Pixel sounded a bit better to me.

I can't stand Apple, but I have to admit that their camera software and hardware is much better than Google's this year. I'm sooooo disappointed as I was seriously considering getting a Pixel device this year because of the amazing photography it's known for. Unfortunately, it's nowhere near as good as the iPhone, especially when it comes to video.

@@jonathanbrady3236 I wouldn't make that decision off of a single video.. also Google is known for putting out quick updates to remedy the problem. Personally I prefer the flatter image profile of the Pixel because it gives me a bit more room to color grade.
Pixel 4 handles stabilization MUCH better especially the background compared to the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Can't wait for Google to update with machine learning on the pictures. iPhone handles video better than the Pixel which was expected.
