    Ohlins forks and shock... WOW !!! My dream setup ! As well as those Beringer brakes !!! I have a friend that runs them on his Super Motard KTM500EXC-F 2021... He can do one finger stoppies with ease ! He recently broke a top engine mount which happens more than people know on these bikes. Love the look of the carbon mounts that you've put on there. This is now one of my fav SM builds that I've seen. I wish that it was a Husky, but now I'm just being picky (I just bought a 21 Husky)
    What is the difference in setup with a Super Moto suspension over MX suspension ? I assume that lowering and heavier springs would be used ??

    Wow. Amazing what they make for motorcycles today. Is Titanium subject to galling like stainless steel?

    • @SuperbikeUnlimited
      @SuperbikeUnlimited  3 года назад

      It can happen, but it's not been an issue for us. We always use adequate lubricating compounds, often copper-based.

    • @daveyt4802
      @daveyt4802 3 года назад

      Galling seems to happen on Suzuki rear axles with Fuji nuts. Most use grease or anti-seize to prevent it. If it galls, you have to cut the nut off and get a new axle.

    I wished you guys builded a TM SMX 450 FI those are truely the most badass supermoto’s stock from factory. Italian things of beauty! Or just did a one off Aprilia SXV VDB 550 or Aprilia MX 450 and builded into an SMXV 450 super light and unique, but not that reliable lol

    • @SuperbikeUnlimited
      @SuperbikeUnlimited  3 года назад +2

      We did an SXV550 many years ago! Lots of trick parts, but that was pre-RUclips for us.

      Yeah SXV’s with the V2 engine are so unique and powerfull, a pitty that the development wasn’t fully done yet on their release concerning reliability etc. They had so much potential!

  • @tonyjohnson7008

    That gram scale of yours gets more TV time than the bike. You make it a point to show the grams saved between the stock and titanium axles,, but then you slam on duel arrow mufflers doubling the weight?? You’re not even making more power than a single, I guarantee you! . Why do you think Honda went back to a single on their 2021 4fif this year.
    With the grams you saved on the ty axles, you put right back on with duel muffler crash guards too,,,. not to mention you’ve just doubled your chance of smashing each side of the exhaust in a crash.
    perplexing?
    The forks & shock are super dope I’ll give you that. You could’ve just gone with the Beringer SM break kit with the 17 mm bore master and six piston axial mount caliper. Bolts right up no modification needed. You definitely have a nice set up,, but you’re not gonna stop any better than the kit Beringer offers as a straight bolt on. I mean if you just wanna spend money to spend it that’s fine.. it’s your bike I get it I suppose.. but damn dude. What a colossal waste of dough. I have the cousin of this bike. 2020 FS 450,. I am guilty myself for trying to save grams on tye foot pegs for example. But looking at you on camera it looks like you could lose another 15 pounds. Wouldn’t that be more beneficial in weight savings? with the extra money saved you can get a school and learn to be actually fast on the thing. I dunno man🤷‍♂️
    Oh one more,, those ty engine hangers... grams in weight savings is a far second to the flex characteristic and feel they give the chassis. Did you talk to CMT about that? What does Tex have to say? Are you just going to wing it and bling it 😆 It is an entertaining video tho👍

    • @SuperbikeUnlimited
      @SuperbikeUnlimited  3 года назад +9

      You sound like you've had a bad day! Where to begin? We've seen quite definitive proof that this exhaust benefits built engines more than a single, can you guess why we might go this route?
      Regarding the Beringer comment, we sell and use those kits. Two key issues; One: we want radial brakes. Two: Massive offset on the fork bottom, as addressed in this video. There's no question we have better performance this way.
      Comments about weight, speed, etc etc - We race superbike primarily, this is a training tool and purely for fun. We choose to build things a certain way. Doing things our way can be expensive, but it's our path. Freddy's pace? Well, we've been racing in SBK classes for a few years now and we have secured plenty of wins, podiums and a National Expert SBK championship along the way.

    • @tonyjohnson7008

      This is like talking to Joe Biden here. A bearinger axial mount caliper will give you better feel on a super Moto period. Like you said you’re a super bike guy, this is new to you.
      Second there’s no way a duel muffler system is going to give you more power on a single cylinder 450. Again, with as much as you like to weigh grams out on a scale adding a dual muffler system w/duel header is negligible.
      Nice forethought on being able to adjust the rear shock. You would end up losing the race because it takes you two hours to set the SAG.
      Listen I get it.. u build your bike your way. I’m just trying to save you from yourself with this particular project that’s all man. Go back and re-read my original comments. If you’re honest with yourself there’s absolutely no way A logical human can disagree with any of it. Now stop getting angry and start getting smart. Like remembering to bring the GoPro when you go to the race track:/. This is the second time you’ve done this. It’s a small thing yes I know, but it’s the attention to details you’re missing. Now take a deep breath and some Valium and try to have a good nights sleep so you can wake up fresh in the morning to be a nice guy.

      @@tonyjohnson7008 nothing wrong with the way you think, it's just the simple and economical way to approach supermoto. If you want to have a really competitive bike, you have to do as these guys have done. Dual exhaust gives more top end power, something you don't want on a Motocross bike (where you want torque and usable power, not raw power). The fork bottoms improve the handling by a lot, and the feeling of a radial caliper is better (the 6p pistons are smaller than the 4p radial, they pretty much have the same breacking power, I just don't like their choice to use a Corsacorta as a master, it's not a supermoto piece and Beringer products are really peculiar, they work the best with a complete system, especially on supermoto). I'm a mechanic in the Italian supermoto championship, every bike in the paddock is like this KTM as far as quality and level of components
