I know this video is a year old but WOW, great video I've come across looking for help getting over my fear of making espresso with my new machine. The step by step explanations along the way, right down to cleaning as you go, are absolutely perfect. I was intimidated by my machine but now am approaching it with confidence. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!
I just got my barista touch and I feel like too much grinds comes out and I end up wasting coffee. How do I fix this with grind size/time? I don’t want to weigh my beans
Great tutorial! Out of curiosity, is there a certain amount of pressure that one applies/pushes into the espresso beans puck before attaching the porta filter to pull the espresso? Like, when you were making sure the grounds were level/tamping it down, did you apply a certain amount of weight? (Or, did you only make it level?)
Nice tutorial. Just got one. Haven't tried it yet. What's the name of the upgraded filter basket you are using, or is it an entirely new portafilter? Can u post the link or name you got it from. Did I hear it's a 3 shot capacity? Also, Can u post a video of your new machine
The basket I used most with this machine was an “IMS Precision Double Filter Basket For Breville 54mm Group - 16-20gr” which I got from a store called Coffee Addicts.
I got a new machine and I have been having some issues. It takes 3 tries to grind 18 gms of beans. Also the flow is very slow and I have to press on brew couple of times. Any idea on what I might be doing wrong ? My grind number is 5 and time is 20 secs.
Was it darker in colour than you expected? My box says black stainless steel but it looks more black than pictures I see online which seem more gunmetal grey. I’m worried I got a Black Truffle instead by accident
Hi, thanks for the in depth video. I’ve recently bought 1 and have a quick question that’s picking my brains since owning the barista touch, when I’m pulling a double shot should i be pressing the single brew or double brew option on screen? What is the difference? And also it has different drinks but all set at the same presets grind/brew time
I got mine about a month ago and I was asking my self the same thing. Why have different drinks in the screen if the settings are the same for all. Well except for the americano, it shoots the water when you choose that drink.
It’s a portafilter funnel. You can find them on Amazon or many coffee supply shops. Just make sure it has the same ears on it for the Breville so it will fit the machine
I have this machine and I am thinking to return it. I am a type of person that needs a 24 ounce cup of Joe in the morning and there is no cop that will fit under the spout in this machine. That’s really disappointing.
My goal here was to demo the machine as basically as possible, how anyone would use it, without having to learn a special routine. Heck, Breville doesn’t even mention a scale, they just expect people to grind, tamp, and brew! I’m aware that there are people who have a 15 step process to making their espresso and dump anything that isn’t absolutely perfect :) I actually think a lot of the rough puck top there is due to grounds stuck on the group screen. Yes, there are things that can be done to improve, that said any channeling was minor, you can tell by the decent flow rate and evenness across the basket.
Don’t buy any Breville espresso machines. If you need any internal spare parts they don’t wanna sell it to you. So, if something breaks you can only ship machine to them to fix. LOL So it is not worth.
I don’t remember which beans these are! I think at the time I was using Celestial Blend from Temple Grounds Coffee, but it could also be a Verve Streetlevel. I had much better luck with relatively fresh beans roasted within a few weeks of use. I would usually grind in the 10-15 range, but the burr basket has an adjustment as well and I just had that at the factory setting.
I'm struggling too. My shot starts to pour too early.. maybe 3 secs in. And they say it should be after 7 secs. I have the conical burr internally set to 4, and the dial set to 7 and still it starts too early. Still tastes nice, but not getting that lovely syrupy crema that others are producing...

What grind size did you use? I have the same machine and find 7 works well with many beans.
That is just awesome, I would like to buy one, Breville touch machine
can you link the ring you put on top of the thing that holds the grounded espresso beans

I would love to buy one. I am wondering and curious and what you were upgrading to?
If I may ask, where did you get the naked portafilter that you are utilizing with this machine?
I just found a random 54mm one on Amazon and it worked out.

Grind 5? Why that low? Fresh coffee beans? Usually 25-30 sec
Woul you mind sharing the make and model of the scale you’re using in the video?
That’s an Acaia Lunar 2021
If you have to work (like a normal person) and want to make a fancy drink *fast* and easily before work look no further !
Just got my black stainless steel and I have to say it’s a piece of art. Love this thing like a new girlfriend 😂🤗🤗

@@yerma9207 for sure. I was wondering the same!!

This is a great review! Just curious, what machine did you upgrade to, and do you like it better than the Touch?
I went with a La Marzocco Micra. A little more manual control, I like it a lot but the Breville was a good one to start with.
What is that thing u put on the cup before u grinded the beans so it didn’t make a mess? Does that come with the machine? Where can I buy if not…

Mine came with it.
Från Sverige? 😊
Niche zero sitting there on the corner 👀
What is the best temp to steam milk to
It depends, I think most people shoot for 140°-160°F
Can you please give a link to that scale that you are using? Nice review.
It’s an Acaia Lunar scale
Selling for how much? Has it been sold?
Yes, sold!
Have you had success making a vegetable milk latte art with this Barista Touch coffee maker?
I have only tried almond milk. It frothed fine but a bit stiff.
I have this machine and I am thinking to return it. I am a type of person that needs a 24 ounce cup of Joe in the morning and there is no cop that will fit under the spout in this machine. That’s really disappointing.
It’s espresso, not coffee. You should’ve bought a coffee machine
Did you even know what espresso was before you bought it? Also you could literally just make double and transfer into a large cup???
Ladies and gents at 5:15 the holes you see in the puck. That's channeling. Use a wdt tyvm

Nothing comes out or it drips out when I use the grind size 15 or under. 😭 So frustrating.
