Scroll Saw Art - Intarsia? (Segmentizing)

  • I came up with this process as something different on the scroll saw. This eliminates the need to suspend pieces if they are not connected to the outside pattern, and it resembles intarsia without all of the sanding and contouring. In the video I use Oak, Cherry, and Black Walnut. Although the Cherry and Oak look similar now, the Cherry will darken over time to a deep reddish color, giving it more contrast to both the Walnut and Oak.
Thanks to one of my viewers who classified this as segmentizing!

I have done pieces like this before, I call it segmentation. Nice scrolling! Segmentation is 2D, intarsia is more 3D.

Happy Birthday! And Thank you! I love my Pegas, but I also had a Delta from the 90's that served me well for many years before this.

I just love this!!! Can segmentation be double sided. A doubled sided butterfly or flower?
