  • Intarsia Woodworking - Making A Kathy Wise Butterfly Using The Scroll Saw
I'll be working through the Intarsia For Beginners book by Kathy Wise. Having already made the goldfish, im now on to the butterfly.
Its not a hard project per se...but its a hard project to get right.
I also added a little bit of milliput to the piece.
Was a fun project to make but I did struggle a little and need a bit more scroll saw practice.
Special thanks to my Patrons David Shrive, Charles France, Mad Hamish, Chris Gilboy, Barbara Joseph, Ryan Davies and all of my other Patrons.

That came out great, nice work. Some day I would like to give this a go. Thanks for sharing

It's quite tricky to get right but the project itself isn't too bad. I think once ive got in many hours more practice I'll revisit this one and see if I can do it better.

That turned out pretty well actually, a couple of tips for scrolling though.
If you need to cut 2 shapes to fit one inside the other, use the thinnest blade possible, then cut one on the outside of the line and one on the inside (assuming the line is only as thick as a sharp pencil line), then sand to fit. If you need to give a gentil love tap (like knocking on a door)then that should mostly be fine, obviously depending on the level of detail.
Save yourself a small fortune in the future too. Get down to b&ms and buy their 3 pack of masking tape. I go through tons of the stuff.
Also, you really only need 1 quick pass of that spray glue, you're not sticking carpet down here.
Overall though pretty impressive. Keep it up

Thanks, good tips. I definitely need to get the scroll saw out more often. Hopefully as the weather gets better I'll be out more and fingers crossed I'll get better :-)
