The Untold Story of the RadPad Business Scheme in Nicaragua 🇳🇮

- I've resisted exposes this for several years, but now that the business publicly left the country entirely and there's zero chance of it having been real, what we've been consulting in private can be published.
I've been asked in live streams and privately a bit recently by people interested in what happened when the RadPad idea was being promoted as being so successful.
#nicaragua #radpad #scammer
This is about the scam Nicaragua modular "home" scheme in San Juan del Sur and not about the legitimate American AirBnB competitor application that they used the name of to appear more real.
Oddly, long after having moved the project from Nicaragua to Costa Rica, their logo is still Nicaragua, but their website has no mention of Nicaragua.
Here is the RadPad business video that we are dissecting. I assume it will be deleted soon.
• Rad Pad Life Story
It took some work, but we tracked down the AirBnB unit that they advertise that they built. I can't confirm if they actually built it or not. But after a long time on AirBnB, in super busy Costa Rica, there are oddly zero reviews.

My biggest distain for that guy was his condescending tone about Nicas: alcoholics that can’t manage their money. Talking down to staff like children.
Happy to know one less cerote to deal when I get there.
Oh yeah, I even forgot about that part. He was a piece of work. Something about him "trying to speak Spanish" in many videos grated on me too. And trying to get Nicaraguas in his videos to not know Spanish was weird. Like he was teaching THEM Spanish.... I'm sure people feel the same about me if I try to speak Spanish so I try to overlook it. But something about his manner when doing that really bothered me.
Only thing this "investment scheme " missed is offering Yurts! Now that's the tip of the Pyramid!
YURTS! DOn't tell everyone about my new business plans!
Great video and some nice advice on reviewing investment pitches. Thanks Scott.
Thank you Scott for looking out for us 😊 investors
My pleasure :) I hate business scams and have made SO much of my career about protecting big US companies against this stuff. Now time to bring it to the Central American context. jaja
For example, I've warned so many car dealerships over the last decade about CDK, no one got burned that didn't have access to know it was expected.

Oh shit! This Scott?
In all seriousness, appreciate all you do, Scott! Total legend man!
jajaja, it had to be done. People need to know the breakdown and how to spot this stuff. And to remember two years of this scam being a national joke. I can't remember the last time I didn't say "radpad" and everyone in the room not say "oh, that scam!"
I knew radpad was a scam the first time I saw it. The guy tried to explain how you can make money investing in his garbage and none of it made sense. Then he tried talking down to me. Way too many red flags.
Yeah, I only heard about him second hand, never spoke to him directly. He posted on the show once asking for an interview, but my lawyer said I couldn't talk to him. But everyone who told me about interactions with him, didn't paint a nice picture.
And the best vehicle down here is obviously not the Hilux...its a BJ40 Land Cruiser😉 I just picked one up last week for about 1/6th the cost of a new Hilux.
What year did you get? And obvs, the LC is da domb. They look cool and hard core and they go FOREVER.
@ScottAlanMillerVlog I picked up a rustic green 1972. It just recently had the engine completely rebuilt, new brakes, and new 33x12.5 M/Ts and wheels. She's not perfect but she's in better shape than I'll be when I'm 52 years old😉 A 4x4 is a must for the road I live on...trips into town on my Honda Navi have gotten pretty scary now that the rainy season has started.
@BillBlyleven As they say...It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand😉 I definitely concur that the 40 series is an "acquired taste," definitely lacks in creature comforts and safety, but the "cool factor" is second to none and as you mentioned, there is a lot to be said for the simplicity and local support. We also looked at Prados and later series Land Cruisers, definitely would have been more comfortable and easier for my wife to drive, but we love how compact the 40 is for getting around the tight streets of SJdS and it's ability off road and durability are legendary. If you live in Rivas and you prefer "classic cool" to creature comforts, a BJ40 should definitely be on your list.
All these scammers hurt the national identity of Nicaragua and must be exposed and the matter turned over to La Policia Nacional Nicaraguense for prosecution.
You are right morally. From a logistics standpoint, though, most run their scams internationally making it exceptionally hard to turn them in. For example, most (because most foreigners are) are Canadian and most of the people that they attempt to scam are also Canadians. It's easy to show at least some portion of the scam happening extranationally making it out of Nicaragua's hands. It SHOULD be, in this example, Canada looking bad for allowing its citizens to go around the world running scams. It's not like this one went away, it just moved to Costa Rica. Canada is the only country with power to do something.
@@ScottAlanMillerVlog Thanks for the clarification, as a Canadian I am outraged at these scammers, perhaps the Nicaraguan Police can transfer any info they have to the RCMP here in Canada for investigation and anyone with info should do the same.
@@sveinkikals7876 unlikely, as normally the scams are international, the police would have their hands tied. It's up to Canadians to report him in Canada.
You can buy a mansion on a lot of land for 140000
Right? That'll get you an estate anywhere in teh country.
But, but, he sounded so... sincere. hahahahaha
I do not believe Tony had a planned con. I believe he first opened a wine bar that was failing and he added a swimming pool which did not help. His original Radpad idea was to sell a movable home to surfer's. I do not know how it is legal to place a structure on a public beach. Each video his business model changes. Each video is a contradiction, of another video. The radpad itself is dumb. A framed unit of studs, with Vinal water proof flooring as outer and inner wall material. His videos are comical and you may confuse his channel for comedy.
LOL. He had a wine bar? How did I never hear about that? What was it?
@@ScottAlanMillerVlogyeah he claims to have started a bunch of wine businesses. His dad has a small winery in Kelowna BC Canada. I think his dad probably finances him, or pays to have him stay away. He is an ass hat that tries to think he is smarter than Nicaraguans. Yet they have businesses and he has had a string of failed scams.
In Nicaragua anyone can put a structure on a public beach. But it has to be removed when reported. So as long as people take it away when asked, it's normally not a problem.
Too much static I don't know how that got in there but it was quite annoying Scott
Yes, sorry about that, it's my older mic and it has a loose wire apparently. I had tried it on a few videos recently and had gotten lucky. But apparently, it's truly bad. No more using that one now :(
Keep the good job up Scott!!
Thanks!
Good morning, Scott.
Hello there! GOod morning!
I think you should have inserted the video you're referring to and done this as a reaction video. Just a suggestion moving forward 😊.
If you do that, he gets paid!
@@ScottAlanMillerVlog I didn't know that 😳.
I need to know these builders I’m seeing the 2 bedrooms for 25k depending were I’d love to talk to you on my next trip
Those developments are all over the country. Nearly every large community has them and some totally rural places, too.
Hey Scott
Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion about me and rad pad.
It was a trip to see that video I made almost 3 years ago! I had only been in Nicaragua about 2.5 years at that point which is just not enough time to understand the culture even if you moved around as much as I did😂. Although rad pad has evolved from that time it still is moving along in Nicaragua and now in Costa Rica while the costal highway is built on the pacific coast of Nicaragua. I’m sure you know all about the complications that road has put on realestate transactions and registering titles.
It looks like you’ve been making a bunch of videos and helping lots of people gain information about the country to avoid bumps along the way and I’d like to thank you for your work. After almost five years in Nicaragua and owning businesses in now both Nicaragua and Costa Rica I would have to say if there was one problem worth solving for any person thinking of moving to or already living in Costa Rica I would have to say that would be securing a means of generating cash flow. Rad pad has evolved into a building company that makes two models of houses designed to be rented out and generate cashflow for the owner. One is pretty small although it feels pretty big from the inside due to its design, but it’s designed for a person that wants to run a short term rental unit or just use it for an extra room for personal use. This unit is available in both Nicaragua and Costa Rica , built in about 90 days for $35k usd.
The other unit available is the two bedroom unit that is sold for $55k usd.
We currently have two building systems for preparing the wall panels one is stored in rivas and the other is in dominical Costa Rica. The beauty of the rad pad building system is the simplicity that it has evolved into and that it can be easily replicated and or moved to any building sight.
Thanks again for following along as rad pad evolves and grows and I would just like to thank all the Nicaraguans and forgners alike that have helped us from the time that first video was made. Please keep watching and don’t forget to hit the like button, the little bell and subscribe. Have a rad day 😎

Gaslighting a little?
@@MrRyan83 right? Still moving along? Where is that factory and offices he kept showing?
I have been following Tony for more than two years now, on Facebook and here on RUclips. I've watched dozens of his videos, and I have never seen this disrespect for and even hatred of Nicaraguans which you allege.
Here is the video: ruclips.net/video/bNNjvpXm2Co/видео.html
Here is the breakdown of the issues in it: ruclips.net/video/1CdBe5dLNPU/видео.html
Most of the videos were fine. I was asked to cover the topic by concerned viewers who had seen this video and its recommendations when it was clear that there were serious legal issues around employment and taxes.
@@ScottAlanMillerVlog Listening to Tony in the video you shared, I could only say, that you have never had to suffer the experience of taking on construction employees in good faith, and then watching them turn from eager to please, to thoroughly burdensome, within a couple of weeks.
It's a far greater pleasure to talk of things, than have to experience them, Isn't it 'Scott'?
I've been building in Costa Rica for over 8 years. The workers that you need, become outright pests by the Socialist laws afforded to protect them.
Pay them for a fortnight and they have always blown it in three days and are asking for a loan against their next pay day.
Since they are all the same, an employer has little choice.
Tony makes clear here that from his experience, it's best to pay contract rates and know that it's done, without untold liabilities.
I don't see any denigration or falsehood in what he has said. But my words come from hands-on experience of construction business in CR. What about yours?
LOL, that's quite a claim FIrst, that you follow him - you have to either be intentionally cool with the scam OR just lying about following him. No way to follow him and not know it's all fake. It's also impossible to see him talking to or about a Nica without seeing the disdain and feeling of superiority. So are you covering for him, or lying about following him? Clearly you can't have followed him AND not know. It's beyond clear.
