  • Money Laundering, International Scams, and a man behind the curtains. This is the story of Traders Domain, which started in early February with a strange text about an offshore scam.
    From there things spiraled quickly out of control. Enjoy Part 1.

    This video is an opinion and in no way should be construed as statements of fact. Scams, bad business opportunities, and fake gurus are subjective terms that mean different things to different people. I think someone who promises $100K/month for an upfront fee of $2K is a scam. Others would call it a Napoleon Hill pitch.

    Coffee has so much more empathy than me, I have a hard time understanding how these millionaires fall to these scams. If you're going to send a million dollars to some random account, you should ask the question, "What is the product?" It's great how they all do some research after they start losing money, but that research needs to be done before you wire the million over.

    • @bosstechnology23

      This is literally why SOME millionaires are millionaires or billionaires. They just throw several million in various directions. When 1 or 2 things hit, they double, maybe even triple their money. SOME do this. A few work certain strategies that end up working out in their favor. Most just gamble with large sums of money just hoping to hook anything that cashes in.

    As a data scientist, I thought I'd weigh in on the topic of bots magically creating wealth through investing. The math simply doesn't hold up.
    Investing, by its very nature, is a probabilistic game with a significant level of uncertainty. While AI and Machine Learning techniques can help us identify patterns and make informed predictions, they can't eliminate the inherent uncertainty in the market. The financial markets are a complex system affected by myriad factors like political events, natural disasters, and changes in consumer behavior, many of which are impossible to accurately predict consistently.
    Moreover, there's the problem of overfitting. In data science, overfitting happens when a model is trained too well on the training data, to the point that it performs poorly on new, unseen data. It essentially starts to learn the noise in the data rather than the underlying pattern. If a bot is trained to perform exceptionally well in a specific market condition, it may fail spectacularly when the market shifts.
    Also, the Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH) asserts that all known information is already factored into the price of securities, meaning that there's no bot or human that can consistently achieve abnormally high returns without assuming additional risk.
    In a nutshell, while bots can assist in analysis and sometimes in decision-making, the promise of a bot that can 'magically' make you rich is simply not grounded in mathematical reality. Always approach investing with a healthy dose of skepticism, sound knowledge, and a long-term perspective. 👍📈📊

    • @biteofdog
      @biteofdog Год назад

      Very true, technology is not able to understand the causality of events that effect the stock market. These guys are just not willing to be day traders and do the math themselves, they want to get rich quick without the effort.

    • @waterbloom1213
      @waterbloom1213 Год назад +5

      Algorithmic bots most often trade rather than invest (short term). The people that develop them are called quants and are well trained in mathematics, statistics and computer programming.
      While what you describe about overfitting is very true regarding predictive modeling, AI, and statistics, your assertion about the EMH price signals is not correct considering that strong price fluctuations happen constantly in the market and there are actual quant funds, hedge funds, and long-term investors that achieve insanely high returns over time without having to inject new money into their brokerage accounts.
      Prices are not a perfect reflection of stock value; if the EMH held people like those at the RenTech Medallion fund would not have 66% YoY returns.
      Good comment overall.

    • @sdtok527
      @sdtok527 Год назад +1

      There are "bot" like systems, but those are created at high frequency trading firms (HFTs). On VERY short time horizons (micro seconds or less), it is possible to predict what stock markets or indices are doing and there are arbitrage opportunities.
      HOWEVER if you got such a system going, you cannot infinitely scale it. You will become predictable to other HFTs or the market volume is too small or... So you will never share this information or let other people in on this, these firms keep their methods very secret and will not invest your money since why trade with yours if they can do it themselves.
      Also these firms hire PhD level mathematicians, physicists, computer scientists etc. They will all work together and put their knowledge into these trading bots/systems. So that single bot combines all their knowledge, that is your competition if you are trading on a very small timescale.

      Anyone pretending to know when a trade is going to boom or drop is either committing insider trading or is lying through their teeth.
