Do we need 5 Cameras on the back for a good photography experience? It is unique though the approach HMD implemented on this Nokia 9 Pureview. What do you think?
Kanish, you nailed it. This WILL not sell to the Bathroom selfie crowd LOL. The moment I discovered that this actually takes RAW images, I just stood up and said, thank you Nokia, this is my next phone. I currently have a Panasonic DMC CM1 but it's low on battery life after 4 years.
The camera is phenomenal from all the samples I've seen except non-tripod, lowlight shots. It's beyond me that HMD didn't push out a true camera focused update yet for this. A quick Instagram search will pull up some of the best looking photos from a phone you can find though. I chose the OnePlus 7 Pro over this for the versatility. For RAW files I'd choose this over anything else though.
I'm a loyal user of Windows Phone, after the WAZE dies and the Whatsapp will probably stop working in December looking for a soft landing in the Android world. After watching your professional video I probably found my next phone. Thanks
I have the Lumia 1020 and while I love many of the photos its captured, I know to only use it when I'm not in a hurry - because of all the bits that that 41 MP sensor is pushing around. It's not a point and shoot at all to me, it's meant for when you have the time to compose a shot. After hearing reviews about the Nokia 9 and the speed - I went with the LG G7 One as a daily snapper and I'm keeping the 1020 for backup. Great review by the way.
what if nokia went to put 5 super wide angel cameras (3 RGB and 2 B/W) since the images are going to be really sharp that's how we will get 2 focal lengths, a 123 angel shot and a cropped 78 degree shot that's cropped but with a great sharpness.
It would be awesome if nokia can take advantage of this powerful system for the normal user too. I like the design. Please faster processing , stereo speakers and an ultrawide lense for the follow up. Thanks :)
@@dannywinget Taking what they've learned about smartphone tech, and AI, and applying a useful version to a camera, along with their killer photography... Yeah that'd be amazing.
I gotta given them props for trying something new in the phone industry though. All these smart phones are basically the same these days. It's nice to see something a little different.
Im still on my Nokia Lumia 1520.3. Yea I know 5year old windows phone but it does everything I need it to do and it has windows 10. I not sure what I will do if this phone dies because I not an fan of Apple or Google.
As a Nokia Android user , I think I can answer this question , I own a Nokia 8.1 which has a 3500 mah of battery . But what you should know is that the Nokia's batteries are way more capable than its specification... for instance my phone's battery usually last long as a Samsung galaxy a70's 4500 mah battery, thanks to its bloatware free android software and intelligent adaptive battery by google. I can at least tell you that Nokia 9pv's 3320mah batteries can withstand usage of any other phone's 4000mah battery ... just go for this phone if you are really interested in it's cameras
I am an owner of this phone. It easily lasts me through a day with average screen time and usage. If I use it for just calls, then it even lasts two + days
Better battery equals user experience. I'm waiting for the next generation of Nokia then hopefully I'll jump right on board! In my opinion 4000 MaH should be the industry standard. Otherwise it feels too weedy. They sort that - I'm in for a new Nokia! 👍
I think its a great phone for the first of its generation, but nextgen is going to be a killer phone. So I think I might wait this one out, unless theres a good deal out there.
1:20 there are actually 3 monochromes, making it a total of 5 camera's PLUS a tof-sensor. Where for example Huawei advertises 4 camera's on their latest flagship INCLUDING a tof-sensor. If you'd count that way, the Nokia would have 6 camera's.
Danny ? Any chance for another, more current review ? Many people are curious at to how the updates have changed this phone. Thus making it better, worse or more of the same ? Does not have to be a proper review, even just your impressions, should you still have the phone. Thank you. Stay safe, remain cuatious, stay healthy!
I owned 9 and definitely love the photo came out from it. But some night shot is just okay, low noise but soft. But I am so confuse that that black dot is ToF or just an laser auto focus ? Saw one guy teardown and reveal the sensor is 2 small dots similar to laser auto focus.

concerning the 'long processing' issue: I think I would approach the camera use as if I was shooting a 36 exposures roll of analog film. Meaning I will be very selective in my shot choice. I know this is completely contrary to the modern age zest for speed , yet being critical about one's choices and slowing down may very well pay off, resultwise.
While the phone is great, I can't help but compare it with LG since LG is another forgotten manufacturer. It has great manual settings and can also take RAW images. However, in addition, it also provides great audio.
It is a very good camera when the scene is right . That is not enough to justify the price, the extremely low speed and the lack of versatility (no serious zoom and wide angle). Also the battery is terrible when you use the camera, getting less than 2 hours of SoT at best. That's just bad. Edit:your review was very good and detailed.
hhmmm, the camera tech is pretty solid but not as flexible as other camera systems on a phone. I think nokia should work on it a bit more, but what they did with nokia 9 seems a bit ahead of its time.

I would think 3 RGBS. I would put them in a triangle formation the farthest away from each other so they can all capture from slightly different angles. You'd need to code some trigonometry, but you could focus on any depth, and that's probably how they have the post picture focus changing feature

This camera has the potential to beat Pixel's camera w/o that black magic processing thing! But only if it comes w/o bugs
