I'm an amateur where the video isn't the primary reason for diving, I just love diving, but I've been using my Hero11 a lot of scuba this year and I agree with almost everything you say. For comparison, I use: 4K/60 Wide Hypersmooth 10 Bit EV Comp 0 White Balance Native ISO Min 100, Max 800 Sharpness High Colour Flat I find this gives me the best basis for subsequent grading and the relatively low max ISO stops the camera trying to hard in low light. Sometimes black is black and looks better that way! Where I disagree is with the filters. I never use them since the GoPro is not good in low light and a filter takes away around 10% of what light there is. And you can always rebalance the colour in post. A good torch or video light is also a great way of adding colour back underwater and modern LEDs give a usefully white light. I also don't use the floaty handle. I've actually made a custom mount that fits with bungee securely on the back of my hand so the camera is easy to point, never dangles around or gets in the way and you can still use your fingers all the time. Nice video however I’d suggest to not use the float handle anymore underwater. It tends to go up to the surface. Use a pole instead which is neutral buoyant.

WB is a special chapter cause you're unable to adjust it under water. If you know your depth you can set WB value 4500K - 6000K. The deeper you go the warmer you need it.
Welcome! 🙂 White balancing is a special chapter but due to the fact that it's unable to adjust it under water, I got the best results using the "auto" mode for white balancing. Hope this will will make it clearer.

Wish I had the time back in my life I wasted on GoPros. I'm super done with GoPro. Just bought the Olympus with the underwater housing and far superior and user friendly. GoPro is child's toy. Done! ISO between 100 and 400 like you can see on the screenshots in the video. Footage get grainy on higher ISO values.
Thanks fo the video, but I have to disagree. Using red filters on gopro doesnt make any sense. While it can be homehow justified for the scenes shot with good ambient light and not too deep, provided that you dont want to do any color grading in post. But if you are willing to spend at least a couple of minutes in post (you dont need professional softwared for that - you can do it even on the phone these days) - shooting without any kind of filter only improves the quality of your video. Why? Red filter does not magically 'add' red color to the scene - light doesnt change its wavelenght while passing through the filter. The very word 'filter' suggests the mechanics of how it works - it just reduces intensity of other wavelenghts (green - blue), filters them out from the scene, so that what your senser sees is relatively higher proportion of reds compared to other colors. but that greately reduces the amount of light coming in which forces the camera to bump up exposure and iso, ultimately introducing a lot of noise. You do not add more red color by using filters, you reduce other colors. Much better alternative is just shooting with high bitrate, flat color and native white balance. this gives you the most amount of information captured in your video so you can do a lot more in post.

It is true that filters utilize something existing and create something different, which involves a loss. I have achieved good results using filters in many areas, but not in others. Everyone should decide for themselves how they want to design their underwater shots.
I haven’t shot below 3m on a cloudy day. The photos are grainy but I like the look. Topaz Labs software does an amazing job of cleaning up the raw files if you want

I used it at about 6-7m and I blame that for breaking the front display of GoPro 9. Now I got an underwater case.

It depends on the mode you’re shooting. I could record between 40 and 50 minutes with a fully charged battery in 5.3k and 60fps.

You must consider that all footage was shot at a depth of 10 to 20 Meter without additional lighting. GoPro has its limitations 😉

Do you actually know how to use your GoPro have you maxed out you GoPro otherwise you still don’t know everything to get better photos
