- In 1491, America was not the untouched wilderness often depicted, but a land teeming with a hundred million people in complex societies, largely unknown to each other. The "America Before Columbus" series delves into this pre-Columbian world, exploring the rich cultures of the Americas and their lack of awareness of Europe, setting the stage for the Columbian Exchange. This greatest cultural exchange in history is further explored in the series' second part, highlighting Columbus' arrival and the profound impact of European flora and fauna on the American landscape and diet. Simultaneously, the introduction of diseases like smallpox and plague led to the tragic decimation of the native population, transforming America into a reflection of Europe.

Whats up with the audio?
Hold On, the cover photo shows native Americans on HORSES, which did not come until AFTER THE SPANISH CONQUEST.

Very enjoyable viewing, Thank you
There is something wrong with the sound the spoken words i dont hear
It stops 5 mins in stick with it. It's worth watching
Very interesting , thankyou
What about the Vikings before Columbus?
They didn't settle.
It appears that Leif Erikson or the Basque cod fishers don't count as Europeans lol, Americans don't know their arses from their elbows, Columbas and the "discovery" in 1492 of America is phony history
@@Constantin_C Columbus didn't settle the Vikings did .They had a settlement in northern Newfoundland nearly 500 years before Columbus .
@@Constantin_Cthey settled tor a while
@tahltanhavoc1706 for a while yes but they were here for a long while first
Nice documentary but wrong in many aspect i don't know why u still say that Columbus discover America when we know i wasn't him
❤ i enjoyed it very much!!
MARVELOUS doc!!!!
Thanks!!
Excellent documentary
Thank you SO MUCH!
Its corn!! Sorry just started watching
Jeez rough crowd tonight🤕
The Europeans realized it was there when Columbus stumbled into the America 's and the rest is history.
Vikings or Columbus, is just ' when Europeans found the Americas ' if u view the map from above the north pole,. everywhere is closer together, not just the Euro Centric mind-set 😉, also sea levels were completely different, therefore maps are very different now than thousands of years ago, even now look at how the landscapes are constantly changing, Iceland, the Aleutian Islands, Oceania etc etc

DOCTRINE OF DISCOVERY - NEEDS TO BE TOLD TOO
The answer is no.America has been colonized.🎉🎉
The strongest will survive
Well as the Vikings discovered North America about 1000 years ago this documentary would be wrong, but other than that and having just found a second area that is showing signs of being a Viking place for roasting bog ore , it the first stage of mettle working from that time I would call it a Viking even if the scientists still have to cross there T's and dot there I's.
If you don't understand the significances of mettle working.
No other group of people in North America was working with steel at that time, copper yes but Not steel.
It was an amazing and thrilled documentary about European domains in American content...Europeans transformed syphilis by themselves to Native American peoples... because it was domesticated in the old world since the Roman Empire and Carthaginian Emporium ... but scientifically was not discovered.

GIANT EARTHEN MOUNDS.
Just made me laugh so hard tbh. @4:30😂😂😂
the captions still work properly tho, even through the weird audio issues.
Sound is poor video 📸 quality is poor also.
Thank you! This may be controversial, but for all their faults, it's the Europeans' frontier, pioneering spirit that made the USA the greatest country in the world.
Isabella was very poor!! And had seriously financial problems. She wasn't the most powerful woman for sure. This history documentary is very unhistorical.
Isabella was so poor that she could not afford to live in a castle. Poor ısabella.
Why didn’t they more powerful women send Columbus.. or are you fixated on stupid details?
We must admit that European life style is exploitive and nature destructive.
Every race on earth is, your naive if you think otherwise
39:55 It's a myth that native Americans always lived in harmony with nature
Europe found America? 💩
Where did you find such a loud, uninspired sound track??? it almost ruins the whole thing.
