  • Hey,
    I came back to the dam which I was removed 3 weeks ago. The beavers have rebuilt it. This time they didn't use those small sticks. Actually they are using same material very rare. This time the structure of the dam was really hard. Most of it was of clay which was very hard.
    The wheat is not far from harvesting. Maybe 3 weeks left till it will be cutted.

    Can't stop watching you work. I've noticed the beavers are really clever in their placement of sticks and branches with large trees placed along the dams width and so on. I bet you could really explain your approach and the beaver's building methods. It's all instinct I'm sure.

    Glad you had a break from it all !! Vacation!! I got kind of busy. With a part time job. I work in a car junk yard. If someone needs a part off a wreck vehicle, we remove it and it's sold. I like mechanic so it's rewarding. And I'm 66, I get plenty of exercise!!! Very nice video.

    After watching you and Post 10 break down the beaver dams I am coming to understand the dams are built not so much as a wall but a net or a fine grid that catches debris as it floats into it. Eventually so much additional debris and mud forms a wall. Beavers are really intelligent 👌

    Good job by the way!!

    At 2 days before the 2024 New Year, it is entertaining to see the difference in your dam destruction technique that has developed over 19 months. Collapsing the dam might have filled in the hole. I believe you have visited several times in 2023 so you probably already have done that.

  • @cb750rocketman
    @cb750rocketman 2 года назад +1

    Had you noticed the giant tree the beavers had felled in the background? The base is still attached to the trunk. They could make a dozen dams with that big tree.

  • @rogerdudra178

    Your beavers are really making a mess of that spot it seems. In all of my experience around here, I've seen that beavers HATE the sound of running water and they'll not rest until they've stopped the sound.

      Most of dams are made of mix clay and sticks. Sometimes it's hard to put shovel there.

  • @rgoers
    @rgoers Год назад

    Not sure why you didn't use the shovel on this one. It would have helped a lot with the mud. Although you really need to get a spade (a shovel with a curved blade that comes to a point).

  • @rustyiron
    @rustyiron 2 года назад

    > 🇨🇦 Washed away, washed out, eroded.
    The more sticks you remove from the face of the dam, stream bed to the top of the dam, the easier it will be to remove the mud.
    A shallow pond makes it harder for the beaver to rebuild.
    No white water at the face of the dam means you have been successful.

  • @NicolaiAAA
    @NicolaiAAA Год назад +1

    That's so weird how the beavers don't ever use the sticks that are already there from the previous dam. I've never quite understood the beaver logic in that... 🤔

    • @Kenislovas

      They are thinking, that this material is not good to be reused anymore, because dam broken:) and for next time they could break again.

    Top video. ASMR:-) I have to ask. If you are planning on making a wide cut. Will it be smart to take a wide bit of the top. so when the water level is hi, the whole dam wil become wet. And looser from the water. and when the water level drops. You can work on th sides of the dam again. :-) Just my thaughts. Might be wrong;-)
    Have a good one in the sun.
