Actually the old diesels didn't do to badly. I remember travelling in the old Mumbai Madras Janata express with a WDM2 locomotive in 1986. Pune Daund 73 km in 55 minutes and Kurduwadi Solapur 79 km in exactly 1 hour on a single line. Later despite electrification and doubling the Urulikanchan halt made electric locomotives and rakes take 75 to 80 minutes between Pune and Daund. That's why this is so refreshing

If only it were possible for it to run via Mankhurd Navi Mumbai Panvel link to Karjat and knock off 23 km it could do Mumbai Pune in 2 and a half hours

I am worried as to when will Kerala be included in the route map of Vande Bharat Express. It is a vicious circle. BJP has no foothold in Kerala because of hardened minority and Communist politics. Although Modiji speaks of cooperative federalism, Party functionaries do nurture anti-kerala policies. Thus Kerala could hope for a Vande Bharat only after rest of all Indian States are served.

Heard that heavy rakes ad locomotives can't use the bridge at Vashi. But maybe not much of a problem with trainset
