- Surat-Chennai Expressway is an under-construction, 1,271 km (790 mi) long, 4/6-lanes. access-controlled expressway, which will connect the second largest city of Gujarat, Surat, with the capital of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, in India. It will pass through six states: Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. It will be operated and maintained by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and will reduce both travel time and distance from around 35 hours to around 18 hours, and from approximately 1,570 km (980 mi) to 1,271 km (790 mi). It will be built at a cost of ₹ 45,000 crore.

@@samr_51214 Once Bangalore Pune expressway completes in next 8 years, it would be another access controlled route from Mumbai to Chennai. But the distance is likely to remain same via that or Surat Chennai eway. This is exactly what govt is looking for. Via banglore it would take industrial output from soith maharashtra region, while from Surat Chennai it will take traffic from north west Tamilnadu.
@honestsatish Chennai-BLR expressway is almost complete. Pune ring road, Pune-BLR expressway and BLR peripheral ring road will be ready in next 2-3 years. Surat-Chennai "economic corridor" I don't see completing in next 10 years end to end
@@samr_51214 For Pune Bangalore expressway, not a single inch of land is aquired yet. Without 70% land aquisition construction cannot start. Average time to complete land aquisition is 3 years (this is 700km road needing lot of land). Once construction started it will take 5 years to complete though it will be opened package by package. Samruddhi expressway has very fast construction rate but is yet to complete even after 6 years of starting construction. Same with DME. So in normal scenario the end to end opening is 8 years away. While for Surat Chennai expressway freenfield alignment, the progress is good, this video is the proof.

My 2023's roadtrip was via Samruddhi Expressway. It was incredible!!
2024 year-end roadtrip will be via Mumbai-Delhi Expressway..
And next year-end roadtrip via Surat-Chennai Expressway for sure ! 👌👌

Pumped to see the progress. Never thought Surat would be so big one day to warrant an expressway directly from one of the 4 OG metros of India.
Unfortunately this highway will not complete till surat, not even in Gujarat due to land issues.
Surat to the sholapur section is still on paper. Work is going on only on the Sholapur Chennai section only

There has been expressway frenzy going on for the past 5 years, but not much focus has been given to southern states ..
For example, konkan expressway is very essential.. hyderabad is missing expy connectivitiy..
NH16, chennai to kolkata is congested and heavily used.. but no focus there..
There is no straight east to west corridors.. except purvanchal, which again, is up

Up gets 7rs for every 1re it contributes and telangana gets for example 30 paisa per rupee..

This expressway will connect only 3 dist of karnataka (hk)., North karnataka will be benefited by the Pune bangalore highway.

NHAI needs to evolve a rating model where companies finishing packages on time/before time need to be rewarded in future tendering even if they are slightly more expensive than competition...
This policy of giving it to the cheapest bidder is clearly not working as seen on multiple packages of Delhi Mumbai E-way😅

But abhi bhi maharashtra me kya progress chal raha hai uske bare me thoda video bana do kyunki mai solapur ke pass barshi taluka me rahane wala hu aur yaha expressway barshi se jane wala hai aur me yaha expressway dekhne ke liye bahut excited hu so please maharashtra me banane wale is expressway ka video banao❤😊
