    Hey! You guys are doing great.Stay Home.
    Some things you all wanted to know in comments section. As the video maker is *QUARANTINED* . We the publishers are giving some infos.
    If you want to make such solar cell.Don't try this. *The cell stopped working after few hours*.
    The solution used to remove copper was ferric chloride 1 table spoon in half litre water . It took 10 mins to remove necessary copper .Surely the etching time depends on your plate area. *Be careful using any chemical* .
    The current was not more than *20mA*. We tried to light up an led.
    It was dim.
    Moreover it is very tedious job, rather i Would buy a solar cell.
    Thanks all.

    We all should be asking "What is the Short - Circuit Current, in full sunlight"?? Because my feeling is simply that it will not drive a few LED's or small motor. The Output in full sunlight will be measured in just a few milliamps, so don't expect that this would power your off-grid lifestyle, or even charge batteries. Just my thoughts.......A great Science Project for those who want to experiment.

      Depends on if you believe Maxwell saying ElectroMagectic force or God saying let there be light but its a combo of that and Quantum mechanics with the material you use ansorbing certain EM/light better than the others and different materials storing that better than others

      It's the Solar Photovoltaic effect. Basically Photons are absorbed and leave behind a electron that binds to a atom creating DC current.

      Photons from the light hit free electrons in the tin, which then eject over into the positive side of the electrical circuit causing an electrical flow

  • @ialsodothings1410

    Hey man, Great and informative Video. I want to make a solar panel for my RUclips Channel as well and have some questions. (I'll give you credit of course). The crystal silicone paste you use, can I use normal silicone? Or does it need to be the paste? If so do you know where I can get it? Also I see you measured off a 4inch/2.5inch copper plate. Is there any limitations to the size of the copper plate can be? Or can I make a super long one? That would probably produce a larger voltage? And how long did you place the copper in the ferric chloride solution?

    • @Lazydayyt
      @Lazydayyt  2 года назад +34

      It is Silicon paste not regular Silicone. I bought it from ebay few years ago before pandemic but now the seller is no longer available. The size of the plate does not matter. It's the surface area and arrangement. 10 min of shaking is enough for etching process.

      @@Lazydayyt can you explain what the readings mean on the thing that read the voltage? It was set to 20v but read 4.6? What exactly does that mean, how much power can you get from that?

    • @justryingmybest
      @justryingmybest 2 года назад +4

      @@iamezio43 how much power you get will depend on how many amps it produces

    • @justryingmybest
      @justryingmybest 2 года назад +7

      Only knowing how many volts won't let us determine how many amps it is, but it probably isn't a lot in this application. Still, the ability and knowledge of how to make one is very valuable information and the process can always be refined; smaller bars (Idk what they are called but those alternating silver and copper bars) would help produce more electricity, along with more space
