GTA Vice City Rage was made by a group of modders
GTA Vice City DE was made by 20 mobile game devs, who are experienced of ruining games.

The first RAGE is still impressive. Unreal didn't improve old physics, but it has stuff like parallaxing and real lighting. The only piece of dedication in DE is bringing the games to UE. Modders would've done it for SA but you know how it ended.

Unreal has the old Renderware physics so it's not by nature inferior - it was just given old crap to animate by 20 inexperienced mobile port devs.
@@danim8414 engines are so situational - it depends on what the developers can do with it. You have the powerful Unreal Engine producing absolute garbage like the DE, but you have the Renderware Engine producing amazing stuff like the old GTA games. RAGE produced GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and GTA IV. It utilizes Euphoria Physics which is downright the best physics engine. So my point is, you need experience to do amazing work with no matter what engine. RAGE in this case is better than what the Grove Street Games studio did with UE4 for the definitive edition.

Actually Unreal is way better. But the development crew are too weak to understand its powers. Also unreal has rtgi which rage doesnt have.
@@avfx111 yeah and RAGE is a third party proprietary engine unlike Unreal so it would have a lot of issues and locked features that Unreal wouldn’t have problems with. Also it has way better optimization than RAGE
@@avfx111 rage or not if they paid a good team to do it and didn't rush it then they could've gotten a good remaster heck they could've even gotten a good remake of the trilogy
I was really amazed by the bomb explosion effect on water... which is so much realistic ❤️😯
The idea of putting the interior in the DE was nice. The problem though is the fact that most of the interiors are a copy and paste of the other. At this point it is better to leave a 2d texture, but random, than always and only the usual image repeated X times

I'll go for definitive edition if they improve a little more, Cuz Rage development has ended and there are only 2 missions, The developers said to add more missions in future, But it actually never released. Definately rage if it had all the missions and mods available.

Of course, this depends on the programmer too, but when we talk about saving time this is quite relevant to prototype.

GTA VC RAGE from the video above is GTA IV which uses the mod map of GTA VC, the effects of explosions are very clear, helicopters over water, grenade explosions in the water, grenade explosions on land, bullets from weapons hitting water, car explosions. many people think that GTA VC uses MOD, even though GTA IV uses GTA VC's MOD MAP.
The rage mod for vc looks very similar as a GTA 4. I also played that game for further details.

In the last patch of VC DE they removed the fake interiors
probably because they couldn't be bothered to set them up correctly (I.E. a bank having the interior of a bank & not that of a generic store).😅

I think the DE trilogy would have been awesome if they used the Rage engine instead of whatever they did, apparently it's possible since I've seen both VC and SA remade in Rage with some modding
Unreal 4 as an engine is a lot better and has more features, but the dev team and experience is more important than the engine

In gta vice city gta3 and sanandreas its just not about graphics its about old physics of gameplay which makes the game insane and rememberable. If a remastered version of vice was created with gta V physics the game will be a Crap. Old physics is the real fun of this games

From what I know, the classic GTA trilogy didn't used the RAGE engine. Rockstar used the Criterion's engine named "RenderWare" for the 3D Era and when Criterion was bought by EA, they needed a new engine so they came up with the RAGE.

Yeah, but it isnt fair to compare them, first of all Vice City Definitive Edition is pretty much the same old RenderWare version with only some stuff from Unreal Engine, Lighting (Limited=Not utilized full potential), Shadows, Reflections (Limited=Not utilized full potential), Parallax Interiors(Limited=Not utilized full potential).. physics are the same, textures are the same, its pretty much RenderWare engine running in Unreal Engine.
On the other hand "RAGE Version" is a mod for "newer" GTA game that is years ahead of the RenderWare era that VC Definitive Edition is based and running on.
Textures are obviously and most certainly not the same. But otherwise, yes you're 100% right.
@@ThisBirdHasFlown They are actually the same, only AI upscaled (Which was done poorly BTW), I`m a modder BTW being modding the trilogy as soon as it came out (If you are interested you can check my mods out on Nexus Mods), believe me textures are identical only upscaled, and high majority of them lost the details in process (like some names on clothes).

The excuse that they wanted to keep the original trilogy its classic look was a major flaw, no one but them limited themselves, the game could've been much better if they made a remake like Mafia did, instead this poor remaster (for the 2nd time!). Unreal Engine with RenderWare physics looks bad, and in my opinion, the games don't even reach the current standard on graphics and gameplay that this gaming generation requires, for me they still look like old games from the early 2000's only with a little make up, although they demand too much for a decent performance(bad optimization even for consoles)
If they wanted new people to play and enjoy the story of GTA trilogy in the last console generation, the best they could've done was a total remake of the three games.
I agree. And I honestly would’ve been cool with 1 remaster being pumped out per year. 3 years of fire ass remasters would’ve kept us busy while waiting for the next rockstar entry
They shoulda redo the game from scratch, using RDR2 version of RAGE, like yeah, it would take way longer but the end result would be much better, no joke i had better time recently playing GTA 3 with couple mods than DE.

Been a fan of of Ureal engine since its first game Unreal Gold 1998, UE4 made 2002 GTA Vice City look amazing in 2022.

Não sei por que as pessoas desmerecem tanto a Unreal 4. Essa engine entrega cada gráfico incrível. A diferença pro Rage é que desse último, só sai jogo AAA, de uso exclusivo de uma empresa gigante. Já a Unreal pode ser usada por qualquer um. É como um jato militar pilotado por uma criança.

O fato é que GTA Trilogy DE foi feito às pressas pela GS Games (uma desenvolvedora de 20 funcionários) sob encomenda da Rockstar, inicialmente pra ser um tapa-buraco enquanto GTA V next gen não chegasse. Já é um milagre eles conseguirem ter portado os jogos para UE4, ainda que com vários bugs. A Rockstar perdeu o respeito pelos jogos que a fez ser o que é hoje.
A versão rage foi feita por um modder.
Ele não tinha direções da UE4.
A versão unreal foi feita por 22 pessoas e a Unreal Engine é super facil de trabalhar com.

I think the unreal engine one is an exact copy of the GTA 4 physics cuz I've spent one and a half year playing GTA 4.
One is a 2008 engine and one is a 2018 one. Yet the 2008 engine is superior.(Unreal has a lot of potential than the rage engine but let's be honest, DE does not make use of the Engine completely.)
