    will buying voucher leads to more orphan voucher or forced-spending habit in the long run? and by using voucher will clock lesser eligible spending on next month, in which I will need to buy even more voucher?

    • @KelvinLearnsInvesting
      @KelvinLearnsInvesting  Месяц назад +2

      Use the buying voucher only if u can’t hit the spend for that month.
      Eg month 1 lack $300, buy $300 voucher to hit the spend
      Month 2, if don’t anticipate alot of spending, js move the spending to miles cards. While using vouchers to pay
      Month 3, not alot of spend, js use miles cards again
      Month 4, higher spend, change back to using cashback cards + buy vouchers to hit min soend

    • @KelvinLearnsInvesting
      @KelvinLearnsInvesting  Месяц назад

      The amount that's deducted means that's the amount you saved from paying. Eg $20 cashback, means $20 in your bank that's not used for paying the credit card bill

    Since DBS only have one year expiry,
    Is it better to use UOB PPV and also UOB ladies for travel replacing the DBS woman.
    And use KrisFlyer for cardup instead of PRVI miles?

    • @KelvinLearnsInvesting
      @KelvinLearnsInvesting  Месяц назад +1

      For the first ques, i think possible, but js make sure u can spend enough on both cards so that its easier to waive the annual fees. If not enough spend, better to js stick to one card
      2nd ques, krisflyer not eligible for cardup, only general spend cards like prvi miles can. Check milelion article

      @@HealthSX Ya, that account is actually very good for giro payments, cos it gives 1% cashback whenever u pay giro. Eg i use it to pay my credit card bills every month, a $1,000 bill = $10 cashback

      In that case is it worth it just to get UOB PRVI just for paying all these?

      UOB PRVI only gives 1.4 mpd. Its only good for paying hard to earn stuff like insurance, tax via cardup. For day to day spend, use other cards like ppv, uob ladies to earn 4mpd

    I have $5000 average business expense monthly that I can charge to my credit cards. Should I play the miles game or cash back ?

    • @KelvinLearnsInvesting
      @KelvinLearnsInvesting  Месяц назад +2

      Depends which u prefer. But i would say miles easier to play cos it doesnt have that much rewards cap as compared to cashback.
      Officially u can’t use personal cards for business expenses. The best business miles card is amex highflyer.
      But personally I’m using personal miles cards for biz exp cos the spend is low, around $500-1k
      Can check this article

    Can i ask what does the $2,919 amount represent?

    • @KelvinLearnsInvesting
      @KelvinLearnsInvesting  Месяц назад

      So after earning that $54 cashback, u can use it to pay for cardup fees.
      Assuming cardup charges 1.85% fee, the max amount u can pay for is $2919
      $2919 x 1.85% =$54

    I don't understand the 'payment' amount in the spreadsheet. How does this all work.

    • @bkoh1771
      @bkoh1771 Месяц назад +2

      Use the cashback that you receive and go buy miles with it. There is a cost which he factored in. For example the DBS yuu card you take the $55 cash back, go and spend $2.9k on monthly mortgage and etc expenses that usually don't allow credit cards to earn miles, the $55 becomes the cost you pay to get these miles.
      If you have bulk payments like insurance etc say $5k-$10k one shot, you can accumulate your cash back earn interest and pay that cost one shot and thus earn more than his spreadsheet suggest.

    • @Cloudstrife-ah
      @Cloudstrife-ah Месяц назад

      So meaning the cashback is use to pay the card up fees? But when your receive cashback you can’t take out? It’s use to deduct for your next statement right.

    How do we get 1% cash back = 1 mpd?
    Let's say a return biz class to Japan by cash = $5,200
    By miles = 104,000 miles
    Wouldn't 1 mile = $0.05 ($5,200/104,000)? and 4 mile = $0.20? Means I need a 20% cash back card (giving 20% cash back per dollar spent) to compete with a 4 mpd miles card.
    I'm not familiar with CardUp, which could be something I'm missing here.

      @@KelvinLearnsInvesting Thanks for sharing the link! Makes a lot of sense now.
      Seems like we are looking at a couple of stuff when it comes to miles (just a small subset of what I gathered from your "What is The Value of a KrisFlyer Mile" video):
      When -
      1) Earning miles - 1.25 cpm
      2) Buying miles - 1 to 1.23 cpm
      3) Redeeming of miles - (biz flight redemption) 1.47 to 1.79 cpm.
      Basically the value of redeeming miles should be worth more than the amount you buy / earn your miles.
      I guess what your "Stop Earning Miles! Why You Should Use Cashback Cards Instead" video is sharing, is on the opportunity cost involved when we solely earn miles by using Miles / Rewards cards only.
      I feel so noob, now I just need to find your video on CardUp, and platforms for buying miles (if you have) 🤣
      Great videos as always, wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas and happy holidays!
