    My dad was an accountant and taught me good money habits growing up. I've lived a frugal life after I moved out at 19. Some of the more extreme examples are drove a car that ran alright but the back bumper was held on with duct tape and there was a big dent in the door for years and I had the same $80 flip phone on the cheapest plan for 8 years until the phone company shut down the network that it ran on and I had to finally buy a new one. We bought our first place in our mid 20s in one of the most expensive areas of the country because that's where we lived and worked. In our mid 30s we moved to the cheapest part of the country and bought a 5 bedroom house outright. Now in our late 30s we are financially independent and last year I got to quit the job that I hated and don't have to work anymore.
    My friends on social media don't know any of this because I don't post about that stuff. The only things I post are nature pictures that I take during my walks, pictures of my cat or art that I have created.

    My zits started going away when I stopped cleansing so hard and started focusing on hydration. I used to wash twice a day with foaming cleanser, but I switched to a non foaming cleanser at night and just splashing with water in the morning. Then a medium lotion morning and night. I also added the ordinary hyaluronic acid but it’s not necessary (just makes my skin look nicer). After about a month of that (and getting used to skin that felt less squeaky clean), my skin became less oily, the little bumps went away, and the big zits went away.
    I think as teenagers we’re told we get zits because we don’t cleanse well enough, so we cleanse too hard, leading to zits… not always the case, but it’s worth a try!

    • @imitationpitaya
      @imitationpitaya 22 часа назад

      Paying off your credit card isn’t “playing with financial fire” 🙄
      Managing a credit card isn’t that hard if you only put purchases on it that you’ve already budgeted for. Ie, if you’ve budgeted for small purchases and would’ve paid for it from your debit account otherwise, it’s fine.
      If you put large purchases on it where you’ve already set aside the money in a savings account (a high yield savings account, even), it’s fine.
      I make purchases with my card each month, but pay it off twice a month and it’s fine. (The first time is before the FICO estimator I check updates and the second time before the end of my card’s due date.)
      There’s literally nothing wrong with it, it’s just another way to spend money. Credit isn’t the Devil just because some people are irresponsible with it. And the solution to financial responsibility isn’t to demonize money in general, or credit specifically, but to learn you how to manage it.

    Something that’s also worth considering when you combine some of the reasons you mentioned: often what one person finds to be a fulfilling career is just going to make less money than somebody else’s satisfying career. Folks who are in the entertainment industry (actors, athletes, influencers) often earn a lot more money than other career fields. But even though I don’t want to be in those industries and those people all have a lot more money than I ever will, that doesn’t bother me because that’s not what I’m trying to do or who I want to be. In general, the less someone compares oneself to others, the more one can achieve one’s own goals.

      As someone who lives in LA and knows tons and actors and influencers, let me tell you, no most of them are not making much money. Again, that's survivor bias at play for you. Acne: change your diet. Find out what food is causing you inflammation of the skin then eliminate that food and watch the body work miracles. I’d start with dairy but do your own research. There are a lot of good books on this.

    • @variable42
      @variable42 12 часов назад +2

      This is the real answer. You’re not going to find a cleanser or retinol etc that solves the problem. That’s just treating the symptom and it’s not going to be effective at all. Focus on diet, 100%. If your skin is angry, this usually means your gut is angry. Try eliminating added sugars. Try eliminating processed foods, especially carbs (chips, crackers, packaged breads, etc).

    Vincent for your pimples, find a good cleanser, a really good face cream with lots of hydration, start with a small dose of retinol (like 0.03-0.05) and protect your face from the sun. These are the basics but many people just don’t do these steps properly.

    For all the people that don’t understand and probably no one tells you because is not cool…I’ll explain it to you. A lot of people have grandparents, one day they die and leave a decent amount of money and properties. I know it sounds crazy but a lot of families are not broke or broken and manage to pass wealth to the next generation that builds more wealth and passes to the other one. The numbers are shocking. The amount of people that have a regular jobs and have wealth passed from the previous generation is unbelievable. They will never tell you that. NEVER!

    Many people might fund a lavish lifestyle through debt or only showcase the highlights on social media. Additionally, individual financial situations differ due to factors like cost of living, family obligations, and other “invisible” expenses. Comparing ourselves to others based on what we see on the surface often provides an incomplete picture and can lead to unnecessary self-doubt. More importantly, instead of obsessing over “who’s richer,” we should focus on our own financial goals and strategies that align with our personal circumstances.

    Great video! Thank you 😊
    As a person who had a face full of constant, painful boils and pimples in my teens, I've learned that the fastest way to treat an occasional pimple is to not pop it, gently clean the area, apply cold compress if there's redness, apply toner(I like witch hazel)/crushed aspirin, and use color correction if attending something that really demands formal presentation (sometimes seeing fast results within 3 days with this method where the spot has calmed down and a less-raised surface). If the pimple is popped, clean first with a facial cleanser and follow the best care routine recommended depending on your skin type to balance moisture depending on your natural oils. Give yourself grace and kindness after applying what you can to manage stress elevated from treating your pimples. If you notice the frequency of acne is consistent, reach out to a dermatologist for help if you can.

    The avg. American is having a tough time, I know I am not alone. There are others in same position as me. By certain statistics: 22% of americans have no retirement savings. 64% are worried that they will not have money in latter years while 47% of adults who are not yet retired think they have to work part-time in retirement. How can I best grow the 100k I have saved seperately outside retirement access which of course had depleted over the years?

    • @rogerwheelers4322
      @rogerwheelers4322 18 часов назад +7

      It's recommended to save at least 20% of your income in a 401k. You can use online calculators to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. Saving at least 20% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of compound interest and potentially grow your retirement savings over time. Individuals can seek counsel from a certified financial advisor to optimise financial outcomes, who can provide specialised advice and methods to decrease expenses and maximise income.

    I love my hobby, which has long been my profession (for around 20 years). This video is very close to the truth, many people build up high walls around topics that make them uncomfortable, resulting in this distorted view of the world. There are only a few people who only dress up when there is an official occasion, many live beyond their means. The truth is often much further away from what is lived. We should be honest, it is precisely for this reason that credit transactions exist, people want to live beyond their means, even if only for a short time.
    Those who have no debts (i.e. no leasing), investments and cash for more than 1 year have a certain financial security. They are the ones that are financially stable.

    Things that have worked for my son and his acne journey. Baby soap as a face wash 2x a day. Differin acne gel (available OTC). Zinc based sunscreen. He does not use a face lotion because he doesn't like the feel. Washing his pillowcases at least once a week.

    To see how much you care about other people's "validation" or the need to "flex" I front or on other people. Stop putting photos online and think about how you feel about "the purchase" the "location" the "event." Instead of posting it online, don't. No one will know you, "did it." Then you can really understand your motives behind it.
    If you still feel amazing about massive credit card debt, we'll done you. If the event really gets you excited, cool. If you do t care 6 you can't make others jealous or show others how amazing you are. It says a hell of a lot about your motivation in life.

    I've always wondered why people focused on extreme money saving. Isn't the purpose to become financially independent so you can do what you want in life? Why can't you do that right away with the money you earn? There's a time value of money and also time value of your experiences right?

    I paid off my house in April 2024. I have not increased my overall spending. I would say I spend about $2,000/month on everything. Thankfully, my job pays for phone and internet. Not gonna say how much I make, but most people would buy a tesla, a bigger house, more luxury stuff, etc. Anywho, I would like to go on a nice vacation this year.

    I've only ever flown first class once in my life. I was bumped from coach and had a connection to an international flight so they bumped me to first class and gave me a voucher for business class on the return leg. I was traveling return with my wife so I gave her the business class leg on the way back. Most of the adults I know are millionaires. They all look ordinary and dress casually and you might even think that they look poor, by their clothes or vehicle.

    Some folks could make bad choices, focus on the exception or focus on the wrong things because they lack critical thinking skills or discipline. They are swayed or convinced easily by what they see in person or online. Money is a symptom on failing to adult. Not something a RUclips video or two can fix unfortunately.

    And with the growing wealth inequality, this issue is only gonna get worse. It is statistically evident, that more unequal societies are less content with their lives than a lower GDP society that is less unequal and unfair.

    I’m 34 and finally made 6 figures for the first time in my life, and only working 40 hrs a week too. But heeeeey guess, that means jack squat in 2025. I’ll probably empty my savings account to PAY taxes for last year, the same account I struggled to build. I have managed to put a couple grand into an investment account though. For the first time in my life I’m making more than my parents combined and it seems like everyone else and their brother STILL are ahead of me. I try to treat myself to a really nice restaurant from time to time, but nope… lines out the door. Needed to buy a newer car a few ago since my old one was costing more to maintain than it’s worth… nope!! Nothing decent in stock that isn’t 10-15k marked up. I travel for work sometimes so I thought I’d set up an account for high tier car rentals and hotel rewards… nope, hotels don’t have upgrades bc the rooms are all occupied and I end up just settling for a small car anyway.. how the absolute eff is everyone else affording this shit too!!!? I’m finally doing well and it’s like I’m back to making 30k all over again. What’s the point of making six figures if literally everyone else seems to be making it too. Must be the new 50k

    Social media has encouraged everyone to "keep up with the Joneses". I used to to do this and end up severely in debt. I have paid down most and I have learned my lesson that I should not put everything on credit. Also, if you're interested in human psychology, there is is a dark comedy movie called "The Joneses". Everything in that movie is playing out in real life wherein people are repeatedly buying the stuff they see on social media.

Start mild, apply at night, (make sure you wash with a hydrating cleanser and follow with a skin barrier repairing moisturiser) and wear SPF. Also, try not to touch your face!

      @ they don’t have one. They get scared of the liquid cash I have. I swear everyone is in debt and broke. They get scared that I have a million in safety deposit boxes and only $200k-$300k in the banks. They look at me like I’m nuts having a million dollars. I’m literally around people with a lot more than me. It’s so broad. Either people are massive debt or massive rich and no debt.

    Sometimes it boils down to personal preference as well. I can either drive a Honda Civic or a Porsche 911. Of course I would rather have the Porsche, but practically speaking the Honda makes the most sense. If you are a multimillionaire, then you might opt for the Porsche. People like nice things and some will spend more than they have to own the nicer items. You should be fiscally responsible with your choices when deciding.

    • @JJLordDragon-c7g
      @JJLordDragon-c7g 2 дня назад

      That's a stupid take. I'm a multimillionaire and prefer having the money over a porsche.
      That 150k porsche (purchase price alone) is going to cost me anywhere from 800k (7%) to 2.5M 12%) at age 60. That's not counting the maintenance cost and insurance of owning one ($500/month)
      As much as I want a porsche to look cool, I'd rather have that money in the bank to spend when I'm 60 years old.

    My wife and I have a yearly household income of something over 300k. We have no kids and live in a 3 room apartment (here in Switzerland), one old used Japanese car, I have no branded clothes, most of them I even tailored myself. We have one long holiday a year, we fly economy, we stay in normal hotels mostly, sometimes even in hostels, we have no debt of any kind ... but yeah, it feels sometimes like every one else is far ahead of us.... although when I see the numbers we surely have more than average income
