Please don’t tell Hasbro to paint the black lines on.
They already tried cel-shading once and we all know how that turned out.

This is what they wanted btw, they purposefully did low effort cel-shading to make people stop requesting paint. They do the same with articulation.
Tbf Storms cell shading on the VHs figure was the best of the bunch in that it actually looks like cell shading.

I was excited for this X-Men range, but they've loused up some of the figures. I'm not keen on some of the soft sculpts, like Storm and Rogues hair. Tiny Magneto with his elongated arms. Barely any accessories etc.
Hasbro: where profit comes first. Effort and value come last.
Could we please get bicep swivels so we can pose the arms without them looking like they're broken?
Or a simple ball joint on the waist, billion dollar company amirite

Some re-desings are ok, some are horrible (magneto, specially).
Hasbro needs to make a new female body that's better than the one they have (bicep swivel, double jointed elbow, articulation at the waist...)
these figures aren't based on the actual 97 cartoon from our past, they're the new reimagining of the new 97 cartoon which hasn't premiered yet

She didn't even come with anything no effects for that price is just insane! She should have a least came with another headsculp of her long full hair .
I agree with you. In the Outback X-men story run...the mohawk looked great with what she was wearing. she looked completely punk. She was sporting a leather collar, and black jean jacket with a tank top. Leather pants and a punk-style belt. It looked great. A mohawk on this version of that suit looks wrong and feels distractive. The most decent figure of this wave was Bishop. Though Bishop was nowhere near my top ten legends. Over all the whole wave was kinda crap.

Her hair definitely needs a touch color. It looks like it was modeled after a spray of Reddi-Wip.
The mohawk style didn't fit for this suit. Should've used the original hairstyle.
In the new cartoon storm sports this mohawk style
Right now I’ve been looking more closely at new company’s that are popping up and producing good looking figures at a reasonable price thanks to Hasbro and there jacking up prices a making a bare minimum effort.
Anthony, whats your opinion on the wave 2 of this xmen 97 marvel legends line?
I'm thinking we won't know until they're released. I pre-ordered Cyclops though. Anthony really liked the last Cyclops fig but was annoyed at lack of accessories including blast effect. The new one has that. It still looks like some obvious flaws, like the 2nd head having a weird derpy narrowed visor. Looks like it's because the blast effect fits into that head. The other head has a smug grin. I'm not completely happy with either, but I don't want to maybe have problems getting it ether since Cyclops and Nightcrawler will probably be pretty sought after. I passed on Nightcrawler.
The color of this rogues costume always semed to me to be silver in most pictures, they used white and black shades the same way Iron Man was painted yellow and red or white and red with shading to attempt a metalic look in the comics because they had limitations with colors. Now when they make the figures just white, black, yellow or white it's retarded because they fail at shading, yet aren't limited in colors so they can and have made figures metalic.

PS: - i'm still not on board with the new show. they dusted off what's left of the original cast. so like half the characters are gonna have different voices. and it's not like the original show ended on a high point, the final season was phoned in cheap garbage... JUST LIKE THESE FIGURES.
Storm looked cool with the Mohawk before, the issue with this art/figure is she doesn’t look like a badass. She looks very unassuming/boring and then randomly has a Mohawk, Storm should look striking/intimidating she is a “force of nature” look at this characters face, she looks so soft
This look is unfortunately accurate to the new cartoon coming out, at comic con preview she looked like this...
I may get this to put my other Storm's head on.
The first Jim Lee Storm had gummy legs.

I don't like any of the 97 redesigns.
Yeah the X-Men Animated Series didn't need redesigns like it was one of the few things that was already perfect as it was and the changes they've made just feel boring and modern in a bad way that doesn't feel like it makes sense for 1997.

Speaking of black lines… what was the point of releasing those VHS packaged x-figures? And then releasing these as a separate wave? So far this 97 wave has not impressed me … I am yet to purchase a single figure from this line. Thanks for the review!
Not a huge fan of the redesigns. They look way too simplified. I like some of them like Jean and Nightcrawler, but Bishop’s looks less badass and too clean cut.
For such a fierce character, this Storm looks bored as hell. Bored expression, plain white costume, no lightning effects. Articulation isn’t super impressive so it’ll just stand there a look boring. I really wish Hasbro would start doing better expressions on there figures instead of doing these bored resting faces all the time.
Me personally it looks unappealing and something I’d walk pass and use or save the $30 on something else
Only felt like buying Jean grey and night crawler the rest are just weirdly stylized and don’t remind me of og 90s x men cyclops is like proportioned nothing like how he looks in new and old show
They shouldn't have give her a muscular legs. Even in the cartoon picture, she actually has a clean cut legs. That one, looks like Black Widow legs. I think it's a generic legs for marvel legends now, since they didn't care to make a new mold. 😅 I agreed, for $25, I think I can get a better figures.

She has this hairstyle in the new cartoon, we saw that at the comic con preview design of X Men panel...
When they added the cell shading people were complaining...I personally loved the VHS version and that is MY Storm on my shelf...this Storm just doesn't look right to me...I'm glad I skipped out on the '97 line... only one I considered getting was Gambit but I'm still holding out for proper VHS/Jim Lee version ....
people complained because they did a bad job... not because it was cell shading.

Look, I'm not a "foot guy" but they didn't give Storm's cel-shaded dolly heels, and this one doesn't have the wedges. Ororo and Jean shop at the same Aldo, yet they cannot give their plasti-counterparts matching footwear? Insane. I must be autistic, because these little things annoy me. Dbl jointed elbows would have been nice. I have like 8 of this same body already, so it was an easy pass.

I hate that weird HUGE belt they put on Jean. It's uneven and looks ugly, and the fact that they made that change, it never dawned on them that Wolverine and Cyclops are wearing briefs on the outside. It's like they hated the 90's and just using the 97 as a gimmick because it was the best series and only X-Men media in that was the best (yes, better than the other shows and all those failed movies)
I think they've heard people complaints about their garbage cel shading and instead of improving it they decided to just stop making it at all.
Hate this new Storm's haircut btw.
The 1st wave of x-men 97 are meh. The 2nd wave looks good. Cyclops, Madelyn, and xcutioner look solid.
Cyclop's has a huge head, other than that they look good. Especially Nightcrawler.

I didn't buy this one. Never a fan of the mohawk with the Jim Lee costume also no accessories!!! The Storm Retro and VHS is way better in my opinion.
