Today were going to find out if my FBO + Tuned Genesis Coupe 3.8 is fast! Not everything went exactly as planned but it was still so much fun!
Also wanted to say the valve caps are currently unavailable on amazon so they cant be ordered unfortunately.

dude sounds stressed af in this lmao
I’m telling you this because I also have a 3.8 automatic and I race every weekend , you need light weight pulleys , and whenever you launch your car don’t put your feet all the way on the gas when you launch it , launch it slow and then once you see you not spinning put your foot on it all the way down
Light weight pulleys ruin the engine
Arn’t light weight pulleys sketchy as fuck? I’m FBO but skipped that.
@@Dahny yes yes they are
@@Dahny you have the upgrade manifold from 3point8??
@@carlosventura8856why???
you made me fall in love with the genesis all over again. my genny is EVERYTHING
Marry me
@@LgtpandaGaming LMAO
@EthanW, idk if you have the diff mounts, but if you dont, change them out and I believe the subframe bushings. Either from GenRacer or 3.8 Perfomance will def help for sure with that wheel spin and wheel hop along with a different drive shaft. Unless you already have that lol jus tryin to be helpful lol
Me watching videos tryna convince myself not to sell my automatic genny is
Fast is a relative term, man. It's all about experience. Fast to me was my 2001 Trans Am. LS6 intake manifold, ported and polished heads, custom exhaust, stage 3 shift kit w/ a 3200 stall torque converter, 150hp NO2 dry shot and 315 Nitro 555R tires out back. About 500 hp for about 2500 bucks.
Ported heads but not a cam upgrade ?
A trans am for less than 3k??
@@TooFlyNico
He was referring to the cost of the upgrade parts
@@Highlander1432 sounds useless to have head work without upgrading the cam if you ask me lol
We have a tuned cts-v with a 200 shot . It is arpund 1000hp thay car fucking flies. I do not ever use the nirtrous there is no reason unless we race it. There is always faster out there though. Comes down to one thing ..... 💰. Now im working on a 9litre stroked viper. That car is stupid scary.
You have no idea how much I want a genesis because of you bro
Damn 0 dislikes that’s what a good RUclipsr can do props brother
Another thing you need to do it’s whenever you want to launch it , get it to the range you want to launch it and hold it there for two or 3 seconds and let it go , if you do it once you get to where you want to let it go it’s always going to spin
My stock Genny 3.8 was spinning like crazy until I changed the tires to continental. The power your genny makes needs even better tires, checkout some suggestions from this thread. Honestly at this point even my stock Genny will walk on you 😂
Hahaha
100 hp per valve stem cap
Nah, he added weight 😂😂 lost a horsepower
Yes +50hp per sticker too
My car is Middle East spec which is BK2 8speed, but still with MPI engine. So I dropped my 100-200km/h from 14+ sec to 10.28 with my supercharger. But cant go faster than 5.28 0-60. So don’t stuck at 0-60 that much man. Good luck🙏🏻
you’re a influence on me copping a genny 3.8, funniest thing is, my name is ethan too 💀
You should get new diff mounts it should help, I know you have sub frame shims but maybe its time to go solid. These 2 will help with wheel hop.
If u get a better quality camera you’ll b famous I’m calling it
Try to time the quarter mile it will give you a lot more accurate measures of the improvement the mods have made
Another thing I can tell you other than get sum better tires for grip is to have your air pressure on the rear tires at 25 psi
its not FBO 3.8 until you put in stage 3 intake manifolds
Whos does them now with the passing of Dustin?
@@tlomz470 his wife
trish Davis does them with her crew that have always done them so no problem same good quality work being done .
@@edwinmanrique2448 @Collin Marion Okay cool I wasn't aware there was a full team doing them. I'll make sure to get the upgrade soon then!
@@tlomz470 yeah, please do support them. They really need it rn
try shifting to 2nd and rev to 2500 then launch
Road conditions are the problem my genesis always spins on cold pavement
Change the short ram intake and get the true cold air intake that goes all the way down to the fog light , it’s on 3.8 performance too or gc tuner , the short ram you have it’s not really making a lot of difference
The one that goes down to fog light doesn’t do shit either
@@winkytherat708 you need a tune bro , you can’t just put that intake having everything stock in your car and hope it’s going to change everything
@@winkytherat708 in the description it says it it’s a intake that’s based on tune too , and also you can’t say tht if you don’t have it on your car , also it’s always going to be the best intake on all the ones they have for the bk2 3.8 because it’s the longest one and actually a cai not a short ram
are you flooring it from the start? If you are, then obviously you're gonna spin. Try launching it half throttle or hard enough where you're not losing traction and then when you know you have traction, floor it.
I was always told to Do a quick but rolling motion into the pedal
Constant launches like this (break and gas) is a good way to break your transmission
I agree hopefully his check engine light he said just appeared back on at beginning of his video really is nothing for him to say oh well about. I hope he did not hurt his genny
A suggestion, get good 2 way or 3 way adjustable coil overs (and watch motoip video on proper tuning and adjustments!!!!!) Traction is a problem your facing (this isn't just your tires it's also your shocks!!!) Your to stiff in your rear shocks, it's not letting your weight to roll back into your tires and letting the rear drop in to get that rubber biting into the pavement harder, while tires are going to make a difference and are definitely a key component, your shocks also play a HUGE roll in how well your going to hook up on launch to get you rolling, weight should transfer back on launch letting your rear sink in and help hook your tires up to the pavement, then as you roll out of your launch should flatten out,
So I got some fatter tires and got good tires as well as ATQ diff kit. I bought some bigger rims and put an oversized tire on it. Rear is solid and when I hit it from a stop I usually don’t burn the tires too much.
It’s shifting weird because it’s an automatic with a stock torque converter. A automatic transmission wants to shift based on wheel speed (rough knowledge - I drive manuals) which is why I prefer a 6-speed, more control over what you car does.
I had those valve stem caps. The clear rubber covering the logo, turns yellow and gets cloudy after a few months.
Cold equals no traction my guy
You could try to get some better traction wheels on the back. That will help it a lot better
keep traction control and stability control on and launch at 2500 rpms in sport mode
facts bro
Been telling him this 🤦🏽♂️
seems like the fastest 0-60 for me i have a ‘16 genesis 3.8
Ill give it a go
It’ll cut power as soon as the tires spin, no point in even trying
Time to get some r888r tires! If you spin you can always take off a margin of .5 seconds off your time since it really holds back your power transfer.
You’re potentially in the high 4 seconds range with your 60 foot
Bruh 2024 I googled what do people use to test 0-60 and one of your videos popped up must be good!
When are you going e85? That’s when they become true monsters.
what is e85?

Bro what kind of head lamps are those?? I been lookin for some bright ones like yours
They are stock!
Wait for the summer and get R888 and u won’t have anymore traction issues
Time to get a tcu tune . Get a buddy with a laptop and go to the track and adjust your shift times
Why didn’t you tune is so it doesn’t shift on it’s own? That’s why it’s cutting out power because you still have the computer doing things to prevent damage.
Tcu tune is needed
@@Mustangkid29 what is that exactly? is it same for 2.0t?
@@officialaustenmorpho3224 yeah it’s for both 2.0 and 3.8. It’s a tune for the auto transmission. It changes the shift points, makes the shift time faster, shifts at a higher red line. Even with a ecu tune his red line will remain the same and will auto shift in manual mode. The tcu tune will change this
Hey Ethan, did you install test pipes with your Solo catback, or did you keep it the way it is? I just installed the Solo catback and don't seem to be getting as much pops and crackles as you. Maybe it needs to break in.
I already had test pipes, Its the tune that makes mine pop so much!
You are getting an “E” where the “S” normal is for sport. I had that happen to me once felt like the car wasn’t wanting to shift. Do you know why it has that “E”
What do you mean? I never noticed that happen?
Bro I recommend you to get sun good tires , at least in the back , you have too much power that your car will always spin with those tires so get you a set of better tires more sport wise
Let’s run it bro 💪🏾 fbo e85 gen here
STUCK METAL TO METAL & BROKE A VALVE STEM. ALSO GOT MY INFINITI CAPS OFF AMAZON! HAHA
I wouldn’t call this a v8 killer maybe a 5.7 could lose but when it comes to 5.0,camero, and scat packs no chance is in sight. Nice genisis tho
Bruh.. do a burnout to warm up ya tires 🤣🤣😂
Beginning of the video he said it was 27 degrees out. Then said let me turn the AC off...wtf
Yeah whats wrong with that he probed ment the heater lol
i thought maybe the ac on helped improve performance somehow maybe warms the engine faster but what do i know, i live at the beach in so cal i dont even know what 29 degrees feels like.
Ac would probably been on to keep the windows defrosted. Doesn't mean cold ac just means the compressor was engaged
Take traction control off, but leave the stability control on.
With stability control off, the wheels will spin, that’s how you’re able to do donuts and burnouts so easily lol
Be careful with those aftermarket metal valvestem covers. If they are a dissimilar metal to what the threads of the valvestem are made of, it might cause a mild "battery effect" which will corrode and could fuse together over time.
You can put a little antiseize on them and that should help the problem
Goddamn 😂
Never even considered that
Lol if launching an auto is hard just imagine manual. Gapped an Cadillac ATS this morning. My shifting skills have been improving a lot with this car
Rpm drops weirdly automatic problems lol
I TELL YOU FROM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE I JUST DIDNT THE SAME WITH MY G, COULDNT COME OFF
Yeah man, i would have it checked out, same thing happened to me, where the downpipe was connected was litterally hanging off bec of a bad bolt!!
It might be the weather bc tires dont get same grip as it does normally when there is a nice weather
lower the tire air pressure from the standard to about 20PSI might need to go less than that and it definitely is the weather
Try launching in second, the torque your pulling until third could be issue?
Late to the genny game i know. You need to get good tires man. Continentals or pirellis. Sticky tires so no spinning tires. I have not “launched” my car. No pre rev. 0-60 in 4.9 secs. You also need to get the 3.91 differential to increase your wtq. That helped me immensely. Cold air helps you btw.
My stock 3.8 R spec would whoop your butt because I have tires that can grip. I daily drove it in the winter for 3 years straight xD
What tires
@@jarveyhernandez6176 I think they were general g max, but I can't remember. Haven't daily driven it in the winter for a couple years now.
I've raced so many genesis in my is350 and have never lost even r specs, my mods are rr tune, exhaust, headers, intake, getting 4.6-4.8 0-60
We gotta race whenever you get some stickier tires lol
🔥
Sick vid
Good looking ride but I am pretty sure my 2013 rspec Sedan would still win. Starting with the 5.0 is helpful
Oh yeah lol would walk all day long 😂
Honestly you may have the same problem I had , after a tune I was still on all seasons. It was spun city so my 1/4 mile times weren’t any better because of a 2.1s+ 60 foot time. Weather was probably a factor but maybe tires just like me is the limiting factor, all seasons absolutely won’t cut it for digs for a tuned 3.8 also P.S. try normal Drive mode from a 35 roll, just get to speed and floor it and you’ll see it go past redline, from a dig honestly sport mode in manual mode is better because if you’re not foot to the floor in Drive it will just short shift by a few thousand
Best of luck!
Remnant performance turbo kits $3300 shipped. 8psi boost SAFE. Should get you 450 wheel
No turbo kit is technically safe for a n/a car because of the piston ring gaps. Mainly. But plenty of 3.8 owners have a turbo kit stay under 450 wheel because of that reason.
@@ProdigePerformance 450 wheel for a genesis coupe…. Safely. That’s quite a bargain. I say safe because their shop car has 40k miles clocked on the turbo kit
@@Conqueefstador their shop car isn’t everyone’s else’s car. Guarantee they have more and better supporting mods let aside the tuning aspect which they also do themselves through alphaspeed.
4-450 is where the majority of boosted 3.8 owners stay at
@@ProdigePerformance one would assume they would test reliability by leaving internals stock. Pretty much anybody getting a tk would go through alphaspeed but I see what you are saying
I don't see you improving your 0-60 times, if anything you might get slower (spinning) the more power you add (I have the same problem). Start tracking 1/4 mile times to get an idea of any improvements
I was Thinking about buying a genesis for a long time but I heard some many reviews about them breaking down yea I know proper maintenance will have it go a long way but what’s the average life for these I hear them blow up at 70k and then I hear some running to 200k
My friend has a 3.8 coupe automatic and it’s got about 100k+ plus miles and it’s fine
@@NicolasMourraI’d love to hear how it’s doing at 150k
Let’s goooo🔥🔥
Tires make a huge difference!
Try not jamming in full throttle right of the bat. Gotta “ease” into it quickly but not 0-100% throttle
Bro you not full bolts on yet you need light weight pulleys
Good video regardless 👍. Like a bunch said, a tire will help out alot for you. We can always run some rolls for fun if your up to it. Not far from you with Bk1 auto.
Clean your fule system and change your diff oil if you haven't already.
Its called a power drop. So you can get traction i have a 3.8 sedan stock and it spins 1st and 2nd gear then power drops to get traction. Love the car all in all
Do a ported and polished manifold
Man let me ask you do you think this will be a future collectable but the bk2 3.8 cuz my cousin is a car collector and he tells me it will be cuz they didn't build many of them and Hyundai Genesis brand has gotten really popular and i know they are bringing out the new genesis coupe which is going to be insane.

Id have to say 3.8!
2.0. Fbo and tune is faster than stockish 3.8 and the turbo sounds are sexy. I had one though but sold it pretty unreliable car, engine blew at 160k km stock and transmission blew at 180k stock. Driven on highway only to school
