- It’s the Interplay Fallout game that time forgot - with awkward top-down shooting, exploding Queens, and strong Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance vibes, this one’s weirder than a one-headed Brahmin.

“A lovely pair of personalities”
Ashton rocks so hard 🫶
Need more Ashton! She’s awesome! Her reactions to games are priceless.
Or lack of😂😂😂
9:13 Ashton's literal face palm made me smile.
She found a belt factory and thought...leather armor
Honestly… her outfit was more realistic to what a random vault dweller would be able to “make” when crafting leather armor after years underground with clothing provided for them 🤣🤣
@@sensualsquelch25 leather belts and a roll of duck tape. Simple recipe.
@@theironfox2756 You don't even need duct tape...just put the belt needles through each other belts holes.
I always confuse this one with Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, which is an isometric turn-based tactical sort of X-COM-like title from my childhood. I don't remember if it was much good, but there was a map editor that I loved messing around with for a while.
This is the PS2 just Brotherhood of Steel , no "Tactics", this was made with the same engine of Baldurs Gate PS2 games
tactics was far diffrent then other fallouts but it was good the lore fit the old lore and the new factions and story where unique plus it finally let you pick non human characters though most forgett it nowdays because it had less personal rpg elements as a more xcom like game
I remember it being great, but also FUCKING HORRENDOUSLY difficult. You gradually work your way up from Raider->Super Mutant->Robot, and you don't get energy weapons to use against the robots, so your first few encounters, you're fighting with weapons that do -80% damage.
But the progression was interesting!
Fallout: Tactics (also called Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, or Fallout: Corners as I like to call it) is still an isometric RPG like Fallout 1 and 2 but it plays slightly different from those two games. Unlike the first two Fallout entries, Tactics is more focused on squad-based mechanics and often favors a particular build to get through certain missions as opposed to letting players use any build to get through the campaign, which is to say that there is only one way to complete a mission. The game is notorious for its difficulty spikes, especially towards the end, because it fails to communicate to the player what skills are useful from the very beginning. It doesn't help that skills are only useful depending on what mission you're on, so they're purely contextual. If you are going to play Fallout: Tactics, I recommend focusing on building a character with high strength, perception, and agility who is good with small guns and energy weapons; trust me, you will thank me for this information as you won't be able to complete the game without it.
Tactics isn't turned based if I remember correctly?
If they did a sketch of Ben the police would 100% end up arresting F1 driver Kevin Magnussen.
🤣 you mean they're not the same dude?
Now any time I see the Dolby Digital logo, I’ll hear Ben saying “Dobbity Diddle-ti-dee” in my head.
You three are great together. Really effortlessly funny.
Love the addition of the cleaners in this video
Ben tripping over “Dolby Digital” is one of those moments I have to replay like 10 times because it cracks me up so much.
Hey, I’ve actually played this one! A serviceable dungeon crawler sort of thing but there were about 5 hours of game strung out over twice that length. A real slog to finish.
I agree its not that bad the story is goofy as hell but I lole to pretend its cannon
Hey man I remember when life hit me hard, I had played new Vegas and at some point found myself with nothing but a ps2 and eventually came across this. It did surprisingly scratch the fallout itch. Granted I knew I was in poor mans shoes but still felt great at the time of such struggle. I now sit with an Xbox one s and a series s, Oh yeah upgrades.
@@dariancurtis762 if you want to play proper fallout then play first two on pc (you don't need a powerful one one bit). 3d fallout games pale in comparison
Yeah, I remember playing this with my brother back in the day, we couldn't finish it because of how boring and mediocre it felt. And we did beat dark alliance 2 beforehand.
Ah, 2004. When all women in games dressed like '90s comic characters and we were repeatedly told it was "cutting edge" and "very necessary."
I can see why this game isn't as well remembered as Dark Alliance. Honestly, I'd love to take a look back at the Hunter: The Reckoning games that used a similar format.
But it IS very necessary!
It's empowering!
@@thisguy4505 You're right. I truly regret my words and deeds.
That narrator gets around he's the one from Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver too. That one eyed monster who's wrapped around the pillars of nosgoth
I have this on Xbox and completed it co-op. My friend didn't want to do a second play through, but that's when you start to get really powerful.
This game isn't great, but it isn't as bad as its reputation would imply.
I love this game! If I remember correctly, there was legal issues as interplay supposedly stole the Dark Alliance engine. I was so happy to see this, Its better with you three.
Always nice to hear Tony Jay's inimitable voice in anything.
Ashton had a good idea with the whole sketch artist idea
I do like how in this game the Player character from the other Fallouts is basically god mode
The narrator who Peter pointed out as being in Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is actually Tony Jay, the voice of Frollo in Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame. What a voice.
You could have shown the first boss, the dominatrix was just outside after the scorpions killing AND it was a very cool fight...
Wish some would make a mod of her. Imagine this game remake using fallout 4
This just makes me want to play Baulder's Gate Dark Alliance 1 or 2, i was lucky enough to find them on PS2 for 1 and XBox for the 2nd. i didn't own a PC so it was my only way of playing them for a really long time.
Fun video though 😄👍
@11:54 "How much for cow services?"........🤣
I first heard about this spinoff years ago. Not all games on this channel are bad, but they are all certainly weird.
Except this game; it’s both weird and just bad, almost nothing redeeming about it.
Something about the radscorpion tail drop design looks very satisfying, I think it's the yellow border setting off my "legendary item" brain
I literally learned of this game probably a couple of days before you put out this video. What a bizarre coincidence. XD
As someone who used to engage canadian geese relatively frequently as part of a job I can confirm that they are all bluster and can't really do you any harm beyond maybe a bit of a graze from being pecked or maybe a small bruise. They're intimidating and can be super aggressive during nesting season but even a big one only weighs about 15lbs and they've got hollow bones so they're definitely going to come off 2nd best against a person. I've never tried to intentionally hurt or kill one but I've seen plenty with broken wings and other severe injuries after getting aggressive with someone who cared less. Not to be too morbid but one good body kick would probably be more than enough. I've never had to physically engage an aggressive swan but I suspect that although larger and heavier they still couldn't do you much harm. A broken finger perhaps if you got unlucky or maybe a bloody nose but definitely not a broken arm unless you fell over and landed awkwardly. In either case it's unlikely to be a situation that's going to arise, if you've got to do it to survive (ie. something to eat) then it's definitely doable but otherwise just make some distance and they'll leave you alone, geese can be territorial assholes but they're not trying to eat you.
I live in the US (NJ) and my neighborhood has been overtaken by Canadian Geese. They poop everywhere - to the point that our sidewalks are cleaned almost daily, and they honk at all hours of the day/night. Good to know that one kick is all you need.... 🙃
See, what I dont understand is we use the plastic coyotes to keep away the Canada gooses but coyotes dont want nothin to do with no Canada gooses... but it works.
this was the first fallout game i ever played. I played this with my friend Keith and had a good time playing coop.
Wrt the conversation at the start about trying to do a composite sketch, I'd just tell them to draw Kevin Magnussen with slightly bigger ears
Never expected to hear Vaati get mentioned haha
i loved the grab and play feel and level scaling, first levels are dull do, just to get you the hang of the controls and story settup, the style doesnt befit fallout but story does
maaan me and my brother loved the fallout series and dungeon crawlers so we had a good ol time with this game!
This was the first fallout game I played. And I loved it. The soundtrack features one of my favourite bands, cult of Luna.
Really cool game. Very much like dark alliance and a bit of Loaded(ps1) thrown in.
I was wondering if anyone would mention cult of luna. I was so surprised, in this video, to hear that!
Heard that kick in and thought what the hell? Never knew about this!
Cult of Luna are incredible.
Yeah i was wondering why 4:14 sounded familiar
thanks again for introducing me to Hacker T Dog, Ben
It's a shame Interplay sold Fallout before at least selling Van Buren that would of redeemed Fallout after this complete disaster of a game
wish i could play this game, it came out around the time when diablo style games were popular, baldur gate and such
This is a pretty good game even for a linear fallout experience. Still got this game, might have to play it again. Wish you guys could have fought the first boss, you were so close!
Fun fact: Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel sold so poorly that Black Isle Studios, the company behind Fallout 1 and 2, had to cancel project Van Buren which is the code name for Fallout 3. Chris Avellone was going to return as lead writer, and you were going to play as a prisoner whose backstory would have been chosen by the player. The story would play out differently depending on which backstory the player had chosen at the beginning. If you wish to learn about the original Fallout 3 there are a lot of extensive documentaries on RUclips.
Also, Fallout New Vegas' Plot basically Functions As a Fallout 4 for the Original Black Isle Fallout Story
Ben Maths:
Number of Radscorpions = 25
Reward per tail = 10 caps
Ben: You’ll get 2500 if you kill all of them!
🤦♀️
There’s the comment, Hello fellow mathematicians lol
I didn't think I would ever hear a ghoul doing the devils tango with someone.
21:15 I see that Kaiser Chiefs reference there, Ashton.
Okay ... you three are great this is the 4th weirdest games series I've watched today and onv watched the worst 101 earlier. And im curious about the 64 song. Yeah idk if America heard of that one but you all are great
Ben Potter was just on fire in the episode
That thing about swans being able to break your arm is a complete myth. Like a birds bones are super brittle, if it hit you hard enough it's going to break it's own bones before even causing a minor fracture to your arm.
"Help me find Mr. Pussy...."
Goodnight, everybody!!! 😅
Ashton- “ A lovely pair of personality”
Why does that narrator sound a lot like the late great Tony Jay? Is it Tony Jay? If it is, now I can’t stop thinking of the idea of an unfortunate wanderer of the wastelands running into the evil Megabyte from ReBoot.
It's definitely Jay, his voice is unmistakable.
I've never played this game, why do I know the Ruby dialogue? It's gotta be a part of some RUclips video I saw years ago... this is gonna drive me nuts
This was the first Fallout game I ever played, and I'm def old enough to have played the original PC games when they came out.
I kinda liked it, it was like Dark Alliance, but Mad Maxified.
@Fallout Entertainment Industriesthe only fallout games true to form are 1 and 2
this would be an awful first fallout to play
At first, it took time to adjust my eyes and attention to the top down visual of this game but then it grows on you.
It's so awesome that this game features dobbity dibbity
Man all the cow talk weren't cows haha
Is that Tony Jay narrating the game? The elder from the Legacy of Kain series and the OSS guy from Return to Castle Wolfenstein (and many more).
R.I.P.
Ashton needs to get in on Worst Games Ever!!!! You 3 do so well all in a group.
Whoever put Armpit in the thumbnail made him look like a fallout force ghost lol.
Was not expecting the 64 Zoo Lane reference to get Ashton so bad ahahah
I Just rewatched this and noticed that the Narrator is Tony Jay! who was the voice of Megabyte from ReBoot and Chairface Chippendale from The Tick
You don't deserve the ooze if you can't handle it.
10/10 for the soundtrack featuring Slipknot and Killswitch Engage 😂
Cult of Luna for the intro cutscene, too. That's absolutely crazy. Never heard their music out in the wild like that.
On the swan topic....... They are birds... They have hollow bones... No they will not break your arms or legs I can't believe this is still a thing😂
Heavy Black lagoon vibe in character select
09:52 I'll never be able to not say "Dolbity Digity" now, thanks alot
Ashton thinking about Ben's mouth? Hmmmmmm
the REAL useless third party in this video is ben's mic, since it took the day off and it was nearly impossible to hear ben 😥
Is the narrator at the beginning of the game, the same guy who did the opening/closing narration for the 'Skeleton Warriors' cartoon?
he is also the narrator for the bards tale 2004.
This kinda looks fun though, love a mobile remake of this game.
Such a vivid and emersive voice, from the one and only Tony Jay!
2 player local co-op is legendary rare feature.
Now that you mention it, Ben does have a kinda wide mouth. I bet that bad boy could take a whole intact Yorkshire pudding in one go
Never played this but I just found it for $40 today! I love bad games that make me laugh so I'm excited. I want to make my wife play this with me but I fear she would leave me after.
40 bucks is way too much for this mediocrity, 5 is the absolute top.
just tell the sketch artist that one looks like a baby in an adult body, and the other looks like a post-punk frontman whose band has lasted too long
A fun little Friday surprise.
@32:08 The line Peter selected too fast to read said "Have you seen any Brotherhood soldiers around here?".
I understand I could have figured that out using context clues, and the fact that Peter pretty much says the essence of the line immediately afterwords, but I had to know what it said exactly. I did this for anyone else that it bothered as much as me. Not all heroes wear capes.
I’ve always been curious about this game and it actually looks more fun than I imagined. I should check it out.
Biggest animal you can kill by hand? Deer.
I'd twat a deer.
I remember this well... my wife and I finished it (we always enjoyed the Baldur's Gate games in the same engine together) and I seem to recall we enjoyed it. Dark Alliance, etc. were probably better games, though...
This game has co-op multiplayer, its pretty cool
Would anyone else pay to watch Tiny Peter vs a Goose in a fight?
18:55 So... Hank Hill helped write this?
Got dang it Bobby. Stop playing those Vidya Gaems.
lol, "this just seems like a viscous rumor spread by big... swan"
I blame Ben for this game... He took it out of Pandora's Box! lol
Now I kinda want to try this game
Todd barely considered Fallout 1-2 canon so this isn’t surprising
Brotherhood of Steel sounds like it should be a Manowar album
The cow says 😂😂
I would mind if this game get remade or recreated as a mod for Fallout New vegas or 4.
Forgot to turn your mic on bro lol
This is strange...
I have it for xbox and the game box say: Xbox Exklusive.
On the Cover is only this girl you can play and thats it.
On the bottom you read Interplay.
Thats all.
🤔
I think there was originally meant to be an option to switch the camera to a different angle at will (I believe early demos of the game showed the other angle), but it was cut so you're stuck with the top down perspective the entire time.
This game is so bad but I still completed it; I was playing old PS2 games well into the PS3 period while at uni because I could get them so cheap. I loved the first couple of Fallout games and this one made me furious that I'd even spent the £7.99 or whatever, but I grimly battled through it until the crap ending FMV.
Ashton's reaction to Ruby and belt woman killed me.
A rat! Punch it....chewie. lol I heard it but idk which one added that chewie
As far as Fallout goes Bethesda seems to be doing about as well as Interplay did: two great games (I'll count NV), a decent-ish one, and a bad one. I actually wouldn't mind a good Diablo style ARPG set in the Fallout universe though.
Lol can you survive the Fallout?!
The in-between time of fallout series before Bethesda
if ben committed a crime and shaved his beard no one would every figure out it was him
Ben mic got disconected? He sounds very different
Does Bens microphone not work? Why is his voice echoing but Peter and Ashton sound normal?
Did Ashton really facepalmed and asked if the apokalypse made her (character) melons huge? Why that idiotic reaction?
Is that narrator the voice of the elder god in soul reaver?
Why this is "weird"?
More like obscure maybe
I once beat this playing coop with my ex girlfriend on original Xbox. Was pretty good fun.
