Ouch, those ear drums are gone I made the mistake of playing drums without earbuds in and let’s just say I couldn’t hear out of my left ear for the rest of the day
I’ve playing drums for nearly 30 years. They still make me blink if I stand to close to someone else playing. I saw the beat blink 0:35 poor dude should have been warned!!
many years ago during one of my early gigs, we took the stage, started the set, and i realized i hadn't made my little TP plugs i'd use for performances....at one point i got too close to the crash and the side of my head nearest the cymbal felt like it "turned off" or went numb. i never made that mistake again...
As a guitar player, this is why I could never find a drummer to jam with. How many parents are going to buy their kids a drum kit and listen to them practice? Things hopefully might be a little different with electronic drums now.
I've been playing drums for 17 years and love the sound of drums, but I almost always play either using earplugs or earbuds with the track playing. I play extremely loud and would have a severe headache after a 4h drumming session.
Well that's not the place to be sitting xD It's not like Anderson Cooper DOESN'T know that drums are loud, so put in ear plugs!? It couldn't have been difficult.
‘Little rich man’ lol. Likely taller than you, makes more than you ever will, and would steal your gf away from you even as a gay man. Sucks to suck, doesn’t it?

Anderson dying but pretending he's fine 😂
Exactly. Classic 😂😂😂😂
For anyone who's never been in close proximity with a drum kit. They are ridiculously loud.
Absurdly loud in a way a non-musician typically does not understand
@@familyjamz5150 My buddy likes to beat on his drum set and turn his JCM 800 to 10 and he's had neighbors call saying their photos were falling off their walls.
Too funny
wear ear protection kids, Dave Grolh is deaf
Very true 🙌🏻
Thankfully there's a whole album of songs for deaf people. And he's on it
he can‘t be completely deaf judging by how he is answering questions here jn this video 😅
@@johannesebster5764 he is not completely deaf, but he has lost most of his hearing

It's the cymbals that are the loudest part. Drum kits usually produce about 130db.
True…good point. He ear was right next to the crash 😂🤦🏻♂️
The cymbals aren't the loudest, the snare drum is. But the cymbals are at a frequency that is very unpleasant to the ear.

Dave must be high here. No drummer would invite a non drummer to sit right by his side and play loud
That’s what makes it so funny. Anderson getting his eardrums blown out.
@@familyjamz5150 yeah 🤣
You forget. Dave is damn near deaf. He has no idea what's loud.
he probably invited himself, dave said no, but he insisted "for the Shot".
Probably the segment producer's idea, so they could both be in the same shot.

Second hand smoke is fake and so are you

Dave smashed that one cymbal repeatedly on purpose lol
Sure hope so
He will hear Dave Grohls cymbals for the rest of his life now
Yes! Classic
If you play loudly..that means you are good
Idk
Hey that’s how I learned how to play- I called it pillow talk, baby!
I could use a horse blanket
ok he is actually deaf, dude's head was right next to the crash cymbal
Carefull . Those are fully automatic murder drums
That’s when Anderson learned that no one EVER sits directly next a drummer, especially their cymbals. But he’s a TV guy so he needs to be on camera
I guess Anderson learned that when you F around you find out. 😂😂😂
Why didn’t Anderson wear earplugs?!
Maybe he’s just stupid 🙌🏻😂🤦🏻♂️
Anderson watching Dave play drums and dreaming about covering his naked body in soy latte.

I hear you. Better safe than sorry. Use hearing protection.
Number one rule for musicians is to never get close to drums while having a hangover. It makes you physically sick.
I guess someone forgot to tell Tommy Lee that 😂😂😂🤯🤯😳

I get it. Best to always use hearing protection

I can tell you're already having trouble hearing certain words clearly

I think Anderson Cooper would make a great drum kit.

make him mute too

Thats way to close to be next to a cymbal. Thats how Jeff beck lost his hearing in one ear.
Exactly right
He already had selective hearing.

Was Dave better at drums or guitar?
Both
Pat Smear has said that Dave plays guitar better than him or Kurt Cobain.
Agreed
Drums. Dave's great on guitar, but he's an absolutely iconic drummer. He still describes himself as a "drummer who plays guitar".
