The worst ‘Last Man in My Life’ I’ve ever heard from her. Why did she avoid the big note at the end? She’s normally so solid with this song.

Marti Webb was the original "Emma" and also that song wasn't added to the show till Bernedette Peters took the role when it came to Broadway so don't be so judgy.

‘The Last Man in My Life’ was a song added for Marti Webb in the original London production - it is on the live recording of Song and Dance. This was several years before the Broadway production and, in fact, Bernadette Peters never sang this song, as it was replaced by ‘Unexpected Song’ in the original Broadway production.
Marti usually ends this song with a big money note, but she backed out of it here. The point I’m making is that I’m not sure why.
