So who is singing this? Annie somebody. She has a very good voice.
There IS a version of the songtext in German.
It is time for this "one woman musical" to be revived.
Unfortunately the strongest candidate for the role (in my mind) intends to kill herself.

The German name of this song is „Freu dich bloß nicht zu früh“ from danish singer Gitte Haenning

      Very interesting.
I suppose "Take that look off your face" is an English idiom, which has no direct equivalent in German.
I shall have to study the German songtext.

Yes, is has, but the literal translation in German is „ schau mich nicht so an“ or „ guck mich nicht so an“. The German title means in Englisch, Just don't get excited too soon( Freu dich bloß nicht zu früh) makes more sense in German for this song, and means the same thing like the Englisch original. The rest of the lyrics are very close to the English original too. The entire musical is available in German, Bleib' noch bis zum Sonntag, is the name. The German version was and is a huge hit in Germany

There is some very particular information conveyed in the phrase: "Take that look off your face".
The singer's "friend" has revealed that the singer's partner has been unfaithful.
The "friend" appears to be concerned. But she is actually delighted to bring this news.
In short: she is an untrustworthy bitch.
The singer sees the bitch behind her facade.
I don't think: "Freu dich bloß nicht zu früh" conveys the same degree of disloyalty of this "friend", and her evident glee at the singer's discomfort.
On the other hand, your: "Schau mich nicht so an", seems to get it right.
Nevertheless, I am delighted that this musical has a large following in Germany.
When I spoke of a revival (in my original comment), I had in mind for the lead role, Helene Fischer.
It would be a far better way for her to spend her time than her wretched Akrobatik.
Otherwise, her career has some way to go, yet, I think.
