Absolutely dead right! She looked and sounded so powerful singing this, it gives me the impression that she must be a real strong character, something I really admire in a woman.
The song was written for her, and I agree nobody has ever delivered it like her. I was lucky enough to see her perform the original version of Tell Me On A Sunday 10 years ago in the West End, and despite Marti being almost 70 her voice and performance were just amazing. For my money, she is the all time no 1 best female singer in musical theatre.
I was only 2 when this was released therefore I first heard this song at age 11 on tape of songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber. The part was written portray the English Girl to an American audience. Love this song Did you know that Marti Webb also sang the theme song to Howard's Way which if you're not in the UK was drama series that was screened on a Sunday evening evening and was first screened in 1985 and last screened in 1990 on BBC 1. EastEnders was also first screened on the same channel and is still screened today. The sentiment is for t someone who poked their nose into someone's relationship but the sentiment is true of any situation where people have had their private lives gone by into by others when those people had no right to do so.
the 1980s were fantastic, i remember waiting for the top 40 on a sunday night with a blank tape in a tape recorder to tape the songs we liked, then go to buy the 7" single at woolworths n a saturday afternoon, then play it nice 🚣these days i wouldn,t evem
i wouldn,t even know these days if there is such a thing as a top 40, & to be honest i don,t really want to know, cos if it does exist, every song in it is bound to be shit, cos most things are these days,
She is or was a high-talented singer with aa special voice. Qwll, this is a so-called "one hit wonder" - but most of the singers would be glad to have one hit at all - in one country. But Marti is part of the world's memories forever.
This was from Tell Me on a Sunday. She wasn’t a one hit wonder. She actually had at least 2 other top 20 and one top 5 hit on the singles chart and played multiple headlining and major roles for productions like Evita, Oliver, Annie, Tell Me On A Sunday, Cats, The King and I, and more.
You must be mistaken It couldn't have been You couldn't have seen him yesterday He's doing some deal up in Baltimore now I hate it, when he's away You must be mistaken I'm sure that you are There's more than one car with stickers on And lots of young guys wear corduroy pants And I'd know if he hadn't gone Take that look off your face (take that look off your face) I can see through your smile (I can see through your smile) You would love to be right I bet you didn't sleep good last night Couldn't wait to bring all of that bad news to my door Well, I've got news for you: I knew before If I'm not mistaken, it started last year I'm not very clear how it began I noticed a change, but I just closed my eyes As only a woman can No, I didn't dig deep (no, I didn't dig deep) I did not want to know (I did not want to know) Well, you don't interfere When you're scared of the things you might hear When he's back, you think I will end it right there and then? Well, my fair weather friend: you're wrong again Take that look off your face (take that look off your face) I can see through your smile (I can see through your smile) You would love to be right I bet you didn't sleep good last night Couldn't wait to bring all of that bad news to my door Well, I've got news for you: I knew before I can see through your smile (I can see through your smile) You would love to be right I bet you didn't sleep good last night Couldn't wait to bring all of that bad news to my door Well, I've got news for you: I knew before
I really like this song! And Marti is simply the best at singing it! However, I just now noticed: either the soundtrack to this video is off, or she's lipsynching to her own voice....it's definitely Marti singing, but the timing is off between her voice and her mouth in some parts of the clip.
Toller Song, tolle Stimme. Ich wünsche mir, Adele würde sich das mal anhören. Da könnte sie lernen, wie man lange Töne singt --- indem man sie hält und nicht jodelt.
No denying Lloyd-Webber can write some world-class music, and he is undisputedly unrivalled in the field of British - probably worldwide - musical theatre, but I'm sorry: this melody is possibly the most vapid bit of musical composition ever written
I‘m surprised by her static demeanor.. i know she‘s expressing anger in her song but its as if she‘s deliberately decided she‘s putting as little into this song as possible.. below the neckline that is 🏰
Such lousy playback singing. She's always a beat behind - and doesn't even try to pretend that she's breathing. But yes - she has a great voice and it's a fabulous song.
2023 and I still love this song
Sends an amazing message! SO strong.
Me to
Want a bloody fabulous tune! I was a kid when I first heard this record and I still love it now!
Goosebumps... 🙂
I've heard a few vocalists try this song, but without a doubt Marti Webb has it mastered hands down. She knows how to play every nuance perfectly!

you know that feeling when you wake up in the morning with a song in your head, that you heard decades ago? ..
Exactly the reason I'm here! 😂
Fantastic performer, love this track
Great song, great voice ❤
She is absolutely living this 💚🙏💙
Marti has the expressions of a housewife dealing with nosy neighbors down pat
Miss Webb has a fantastic voice
Saw her live - brilliant.
I always have to play this FULL volume up - the only thing that ruins it every time is my neighbour banging on the wall !
Impressive as the day I first heard it 40 years ago - only now I understand those looks and the lyrics.
Her singing and acting are fantastic.
Rahul, Anjali and Tina vibing in the corner
Gems of Bollywood 😜🤣
one of the all time great songs of the brush off!we all experienced it in our teens, and maybe later, but what the hell, yhe song is unforgetable
Was only 10yrs old when this came out😔
I loved this song when it came out (8 or 9 years old). Still love it. It was a great time for music.
I was 12 and it's so amazing I love it so much
This song reminds me of New York. And i think it's because of the inner cover of her album, where there was a picture of Manhattan...
I saw Marti Webb in EVITA in London. Was amazing!!!!!!
Hi I saw Marti as Evita at the Palace Theatre in Manchester in August 1996, great she was.
What a brilliant song.

Well, I've got news for you: I knew before
If I'm not mistaken, it started last year
I'm not very clear how it began
I noticed a change, but I just closed my eyes
As only a woman can
No, I didn't dig deep (no, I didn't dig deep)
I did not want to know (I did not want to know)
Well, you don't interfere
When you're scared of the things you might hear
When he's back, you think I will end it right there and then?
Well, my fair weather friend: you're wrong again
Take that look off your face (take that look off your face)
I can see through your smile (I can see through your smile)
You would love to be right
I bet you didn't sleep good last night
Couldn't wait to bring all of that bad news to my door

Yes it is lip synched. In the 70s 80s it was the norm - she does a damned good job here though.
I had a crush on Marti Webb when I was about 15.
You were a strange kid!
cute.. she was a lovley lady,, and stil is.. what a voice.
Didn't like this first of all but it grew on me after it had been a hit, which it was in February 1980
💖
Kriege heute 2022 noch gänzehaut
Koi mil Gaya , mera dil gya !!
Show don't tell 😢😮❤
Kohi mil gayaaaaaàaa....
Toller Song, tolle Stimme. Ich wünsche mir, Adele würde sich das mal anhören. Da könnte sie lernen, wie man lange Töne singt --- indem man sie hält und nicht jodelt.

It's hard to sing along to

Diese Welt ist schrag.
Koi Mil Gaya 😂😂😂
Lirycs
is this by Andrew Lloyd weber?
Khush Irani Yes I think so, it was on the Andrew Lyodd Webber tape I had when I was a kid.
Yes Lloyd Webber.
Hallo
TAKE THAT LOOK OFF YOUR FACE AND PUT IT ON MINE !
Kol lil milil gaya
So India copied a song from here and it’s called Kohi milgaya mera dil gaya 😐
Koi mil Gaya…….
I‘m surprised by her static demeanor.. i know she‘s expressing anger in her song but its as if she‘s deliberately decided she‘s putting as little into this song as possible.. below the neckline that is 🏰
Tke THAT look off you face ok?
Don Black is a great lyricist. But here's a little reminder that he's not as good as Sir Tim Rice.
Getting It Right... one of the most haughtingly beautiful songs ever. ruclips.net/video/IpBDXwH1yqM/видео.html
why do I have a hunch she's li=synching to ruclips.net/video/8D6UfPtrB9k/видео.html
Oh god everyone lip-synched on TOTP and anyway who cares it's tv show not a live concert 🙄
Yes you can see that. shame really.
gürtelrose kann auch als iimpfnebenwirkung auftreten
