19 year old car, no rust, unbolting exhaust flanges and fender liner bolts like they just came off the factory. Can't even get that lucky on a 3 year old car from here in Eastern Canada.
My father had the habit of using the oil pan as a jack point when he used a floor jack; he got this idea from when he was a teen and the oil pans were made of steel. He was doing this to a 2005 Focus with an aluminum pan......... He was lucky that nothing internally was damaged. I came home from work one day and saw the oil spill on the ground and knew what happened; I said "I told you so" before he could say a word. This began the first and to date, only time I've replaced an oil pan. Ford wasn't nice enough to use an actual gasket, I had to use "gasket maker" all the way around. None the less, I did the job right and there were no leaks after i was done, thankfully.
You can do that; but be sure to use a block of wood or a board to help spread out the load, my old man didn't, and the jack is a cup type with 4 points of contact. It took about 4 years of this abuse to stress the pan to the point it cracked/broke a hole.
My local shop just replaced my gasket and the thing is still leaking plus they caused the lean 02 sensor check engine light to come on. I'm assuming they did not put the exhaust back correctly. Now i'm having to deal with them to do their job again, correctly. Hate when i pay for something to be fixed and it never gets fixed plus they cause another problem.
7:43 I used the same Toyota sealant as well! BTW the best one (against the pressure) is the Mopar brand, but I have not tested it's adherence to rubber!
What i found very interesting about this is my block was machined flat. My oil pain was not machine flat, was actually kinda rough, but had a channel for the gasket. Also my exhaust was waaay harder to take apart, it was a bit different with it going over a crossmember with a flange i needed to undo being directly over that crossmember and even after doing all that i could take ot right out so had to work with this thing hanging in the way. Stupid mazda 6 lol
I know its kinda a old video, but i need your help. It's so easy to do this repair. However, i can't install the 2 transaxle bolts. They dont go in since the gasket add some space. How did you install yours? Thanks
Add oil to the engine not the filter. Just lubricate the new oil seal. The engine already has some oil left in when drained. Why do you want to add oil to the oil filter? You run the risk of contamination. It is not recommended to do so!
6:35 Supertech carb cleaner (from WM) and lint free rug takes the gasket seal (rubber) "stains" and "outlines" just by wiping (done that on my 2007 Fit valve cover gasket seating surface on cylinder head
Honest question how long did the job take ? I scrolled through and couldn't find an answer. My drain plug threads are toast on my escape due to the local Ford dealership.
I have 2000 honda accord,I replaced all the engine seals(cam seal,Balancer seal,oil pump seal,vtec,distributor,valve cover you name it,But not the oil pan gasket.I put this no leak oil additives and it kinda stop the bleeding.

Funny because to change the motor mounts in this car, Ford recommends supporting engine via oil pan.

Add oil to the engine not the filter. Just lubricate the new oil seal. The engine already has some oil left in when drained. Why do you want to add oil to the oil filter? You run the risk of contamination. It is not recommended to do so!

the hardest part was...buying the right gasket! (they are coming bent or deformed!)
If you lubricate the exhaust hanger bushings they slip off and on 10x easier

Hafa Adai Jaime, if it is rusted you have to use a torch to make it hot and bang it out. Did you make the rust penetrant soak on the bolts?
