Hi Cathy! I have done that in the past. I agree, they definitely bounce back beautifully with new healthy foliage. I think between the foliage turning brown, and having protect them from the deer eating them, I'm just ready to give most of them a new home in someone elses garden. Open up some space to try some new things. Thank you so much for your kind words about my channel & garden. Thanks for being here 💚
Steph when my day lilys start looking ratty I just cut them down. Some times harshly with a weed wacker or mower. They spring right back and look new like an ornamental grass.
I’m fascinated by that idea. My yellow day lillies are just done blooming and I have a wonderful hedge of the on the back side of my oak tree with proven winner begonias in front with a little grouping of mini hostas right around the tree. But it takes quite awhile to go in and clean them all up. It looks really nice but if you can simply cut them down and have them flush back that seems much easier
I planted a incrediball hydrangea this spring and it’s just starting to bloom and put on some new growth for me can’t wait to see what these look like In your garden in the next few seasons 😍

I saved her recommendation, and plan to add these to my foundation border, to replace my knock out roses that will eventually succumb to rose rosette disease…..

Thank you for talking about the Wee White hydrangeas issues…I thought it was only mine caused by user error !😂 I’m going to replace mine also…if something in the garden doesn’t make us happy, out it goes 😂😂
Hi Jeannette! your welcome. From another comment I received, sounds like they do well with only a couple hours of morning sun, and afternoon shade. I agree, I am happy to give plants away to a new home where they can live happily and make room for other things that can thrive in my garden 💚
You might want to save some of the day lilies. You can hide them behind evergreens and only the blooms will peek out. I moved most of mine to the woods edge where they get little sun. They bloom fine (if the deer don’t get them).
There are a lot of disappointed people who think full sun means ... FULL SUN. Therefore I think the plant tags on all these hydrangeas need to be more descriptive, such as zone 2-7 zones 5-7 plant in afternoon shade. I would hate to see any hydrangea in FULL sun in my Missouri summer sun... maybe a cactus lol
I have a Firelight Tidbit in full sun on the patio in a pot and it does great. I am curious about what you did with the Wee White Hydrangeas. I just plant five of them in a spot that gets afternoon shade and filtered light the rest of the day with a little bit of morning sun. I too have had great luck with ordering thru Home Depot.
Hi Brenda! I passed the wee white hydrangeas along to a gardener friend. I didn't have a place in mind, or alot of shade at the moment. Rather than have them sit around and wait for a spot, I gave them to someone else to plant. You sound like you have found great light conditions for them in your garden 💚
Thanks for sharing. Am currently thinking of getting some incrediballs but your video has me rethinking due to the amount of sunlight the area will get. Lots of full sun. I already have a firelight tidbit that I got last summer and it has grown quite a bit from it’s quart size and has lots of beautiful blooms.😊 My little lime punch is also doing great! Love the panicles!
Incrediballs do wonderful in full sun...they start out green and then turn white and then turn green. I have had mine for years and no brown heads. They do need occasionally watered when there hasn't been rain for a few days. They are big, but if you have the room they are gorgeous.
Hi Steven! Thank you for sharing. I've been interested in the little lime punch so thanks for sharing that yours is doing great. I'm excited to see my firelight tidbits grow. From what I've read here on a couple of comments, some peoples incrediballs do well in sun. Perhaps it was just the wee whites. I've also had a couple of comments mention that they do well in a couple hours of morning sun and afternoon shade. Hope this helps you decide. Thank you!
The daylillies woukd look better against a stone wall at the back of a garden....but I understand you finding them a bit messy looking after theyve flowered. Your soil looks great...holds water well.😊
Hi Jo! I agree with you, that would be great placement. I wish I had a fence or wall I could try them near. Oh yes, this soil is a bit too wet. I've asked my husband to help me with a bit of a drainage improvement project this fall. Hoping that will help with drainage. As for the quality of the soil, yes its pretty nice. Its all the years of planting, moving and replanting and adding new soil amendments each time lol. Thanks for watching and for your comment Jo 😊💚

Hi Steph, I'm trying to decide on a compact hydrangea against my greenhouse, which will directly face a hedge of little lime hydrangeas. I thought about the Wee White, but worried now about them getting fried on a northeast side. The little limes are happy getting full sun. How are you liking the Firelight Tidbit hydrangeas a year later? I was just wondering if having two beds of panicles facing each other would be too repetitive?
