- Just when I think I've seen it all in Mario Maker 2, I play a level like this...
Today we are playing some hand picked levels! These are levels I've been wanting to play for a while but just haven't had time to play them yet...until now!
Big thanks to Chris for editing this video!

DGR: My kids watch this, they shouldn't think I'm a loser.
Also DGR: Loses at Tic-Tac-Toe and doesn't understand why.
The unknown could go like that \ and that /
I haven't seen any comments of people saying just how impressive that tic-tac-toe level really is. They somehow put actual logic, although probably brute force logic, into an actual level. And THAT is impressive.
Now we just need a multiplayer version of the tic tac toe level

“Staying up late means something is wrong”. *almost spits out coffee *
I feel that's more of a parent feeling, than an age thing, lol
@@randyroseeternal89 even as not a parent, staying up late becomes less fun and more of a chore
@@veggiet2009 I'm 15 and I think it sucks
I like how this statement is just the contrapositive of "if nothing is wrong then you shouldn't stay up late", but I've never thought about it that way.
I love how Dave's unobservant nature even prevents him from playing probably literally the least complicated visual game in the entire world correctly. "I didn't lose!"

Thanks for editing that death out, Chris. You're a legend.
I just pulled that MangMang level a few days ago in my Endless Expert run! I remember thinking that it was one of the most creative uses of the star boosting level idea I've ever seen, it's cool to see that level in a DGR video after I randomly roll it!
if your opponent starts in a corner and you don't pick the middle there is a forced loss.
You can pick the other corner.
Yeah he had the win on the second try but he didnt see it haha
@@mtgamekid2510 no you still can get a forced loss, your opponent then picks one of the 2 remaining corners, forcing you to move, then they choose the last remaining corner, which creates two lines of 2, and you can't block both.
@@adamnielson42 oh
Tic-Tac-Toe is what you call a "solved game".
A solved game is a game whose outcome (win, lose or draw) can be correctly predicted from any position, assuming that both players play perfectly. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solved_game
Sadly if playing against an opponent that knows what they're doing in Tic-Tac-Toe the best result is a draw if you're going second. You can not win going second against a smart opponent.

I laughed right as he did. The accidental, easily avoidable deaths are often the best. (Also, look in the very bottom right when the screen goes black)

Concerning the thursday/friday thing DGR talks about on 4:50 . He’s totally right, in Spain we even have a name for “the feeling that Thursday is Friday’s eve” and its called “juernes”, which a combination of jueves and viernes 😂 100% true. I don’t know if they use it aswell in other Spanish speaking countries 🤔 peace ✌🏼
8:47 the computer actually didn't make the best choice here, as this will result in a draw.
The best choice would have been top left, because then if the player chooses to place a piece in any of the remaining diagonal spaces, the computer can block it while simultaneously having two open slots for them to win in, resulting in a win for the computer.
The move the computer played is an automatic draw, while the move I suggested could result in a win.
Well, they probably have that so you can win, or something, not everyone is perfect
@@aydenconely8460 Yeah, in tic tac toe, if there's perfect play from both players, the result will *always* be a draw.
Also, sorry for answering to a 8m old comment, lmao
DGR: "Chris everyone thinks you're a legend so if you could edit that out..."
Chris: (Leaves it in because he's no simp making him more of a legend)
What makes him a legend is the little smiling/laughing face in the corner when he did that.
The staying up late thing is actually a sign of higher intelligence and a higher level of creativeness. I kid you not, night owls are smarter and more creative then non-night owls. Theres numerous studies on it.
“Staying up late is actually a sign of higher intelligence 🤓” nope, literally anyone can stay up late if they choose
"The older you get the more staying up late is not a perk!" As a 38yr old TRUER WORDS HAVE NEVER BEEN SAID 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Back in my comp sci classes I had to program an AI for a simple game. My team chose tic-tac-toe and in our research we learned that there are strategies that will guarantee you don't lose as long as you go first.
There are also strategies that guarantee you won't lose if you're second.
If you watch the movie Wargames, you learn that it's impossible to win tic-tac-toe when two skilled people are playing.
I feel like you just need common sense to not lose.
@@mistertagomago7974 To not lose, sure. But two people of common sense can stop each other from winning indefinitely. You don't lose, but you also can't win.
The only way to actually win at tic tac toe is actually human error. You essentially always tie if you play correctly
"Oatmeal Creme Pie"
(DGR puts it in F tier)
*goes insane*
Thank you Chris for giving us the pleasure of witnessing even the dumbest deaths and not editing them out
I think the only other time I've seen someone fail to understand how tic-tac-toe works is when I saw that video of a robot built to play the game that drew a circle outside the play area and declared itself the winner
I doubt DGR failed to understand the game - DGR just didn't see the second path to win.
Also, I found it a bit surprising that the game does not run to the end. Of course, after three moves the game basically _is_ decided. In fact, I can't seem to find any way to get a "double tic-tac-toe" trap when one already has four pieces on the field - so a player who always responds to direct threats can never lose in the fifth turn (which is the turn completing the entire field).
Fun fact: did you know in the Nintendo Switch Oled reveal trailer they play chess and the game says checkmate but it isn’t a checkmate.
that is a pretty cool fact! i didnt know that
"procure" lmao
If the computer starts in a corner and you go the opposite corner, you've lost because over the course of the next 2 turns, the computer will take the other two corners, with you blocking in the middle on your second turn. You will then have to decide between blocking the diagonal or the row or column (whichever you haven't blocked yet), and the computer takes the other. At least the game is nice and lets you finish the level.
Levels like the Tic-Tac-Toe remind me why I love this game so much.
Noughts and crosses is a solved game, so if both players play to the best of their ability, it’s a draw every time.
And it’s significantly easier if you go first, since then you might trick them into a position where you have 2 possible ways to win, so it’s impossible for them to block both
Dave: staying up late for me means something is wrong
Me watching it at 4:20 am (no cap): Yeah, same
Yo Dave! Would like to say watching a daily dgr video is my morning routine. Keep up the great work Dave and Chris! Much appreciated here.
Oatmeal Creme Pies are objectively top tier.
This is the quickest I’ve jumped in a DGR video 😂
I have a great suggestion for a level in the hand picked levels series! You could try beating Spiny Control! 😁
"Staying up late means something is wrong" Exactly, it's never been the same since you graduate college xd
Awwwwewhh that story about Pumpkin Delights was so adorable >W
I was gonna watch a TROLLED episode, since I recently remembered why I once loved the series, but this video piqued my interest
Cranking up the audio reminded me I turned my volume up yesterday and never changed it back.
Thursday is the farthest into the week you have to work, and still have a work day the next day. That's why it is the worst.
8:00 "I didn't lose!" He lost.
Appreciate that you find 3d world levels you can play, know it isnt youd favorite but I love the style
Dave, I watched a video about Tic-tac-toe on RUclips once; your best hope of winning is to get a corner spot first.
I think it's impossible to win. The machine knows the perfect strategy, so you can only ever lose or draw
If the level always goes first and makes the best moves, you can never win.
With optimal moves on the part of both players, tic-tac-toe is always a draw.
Yep, the moment I saw that the computer went first I was like, "oh, so he can either lose or tie."
@@ApinofArc Maybe the computer was programmed to make a specific mistake so you could still win if you knew the weakness.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who still think tic tac to is a game, and those who know you can’t lose if you go first
9:36 - Perfect comedic timing.
I like Sundays the best because it's my day off and I get to eat ice cream. Fridays are also good because I get to go swing dancing.
Why Chris is a legend. He takes "that" and turns it to spectacular...with a few hiccups. I love oatmeal cream cookies, but my favorite is strawberry shortcake smushed between two starcrunches. Delicious combo.
Dude that tic tac toe mechanism bs is awesome.
"Is there a game you are good at?"
I fucking spit out my OJ, gang.
Good lord, watching tic-tac-toe was painful.
if first person goes middle, then with the right strategy it is impossible for player 2 to win. Tic tack toe is a bit unfair in that the first person to go has a major advantage
I mean, yes, but there isn't really a way to fix it.
If the first person goes middle, perfect play will always be a draw. More so, perfect play is pretty basic.
Tic tac toe is literally impossible for either player to win unless their opponent makes a mistake.
So there is no actual advantage in going first, because whoever does will still only get a draw unless their opponent plays badly.
It’s literally the reason why Tic Tac Toe is the game used at the end of the movie War Games to convince the computer that some games can only be won by choosing not to play. No strategy works.
If first person goes corner they can also always force at least a tie too
@@chloemchll3774 I guess the only advantage is knowing the strategy
Ultimate ttt strategy. If you’re going first, always go for a corner of the same row or column each of the first two times, and depending on where your opponent puts their mark, put your third mark on a third corner or the middle. Guaranteed win from there. Keep in mind, however, that the strategy for if your opponent goes first isn’t as good, but it’s a guaranteed loss evasion. Always start from the middle out. Block your opponent after their second turn depending on where they mark. Continue blocking until you tie. No win, but no loss either. If I ever come up with a guaranteed win strategy for that situation, I will be sure to edit this comment and let you know.
Staying up late for me means I’m having an average night because of my insomnia
Wow! What a coincedence, I was just thinking a few weeks ago, using math and thinking how difficult yet possible it would be to make a tic-tac-toe level in smm2. And yet...
From hey Arnold "so colonel Dijion did it in the breakfast nook with his bare hands"
DGR can now say he died playing tic tac toe
How dare you, DGR?! Oatmeal Creme Pies are the *best!*
21:13 Awww ... gosh ... this is a heartbreaking gamer moment
Tic-Tac-Toe is a solved game. Every possible combination can easily be tried by a computer (or a person with a lot of time on their hands). If the Tic-Tac-Toe level is designed to play a perfect game, the best you can do is draw. The only way you win is if the author designed the level to make mistakes.
In our house. Oatmeal creme pies are the only little Debbie's we buy.
8:00 They win-you take 7, they take 3
You take 3 they take 7
You take anything else and they take either of those two
Always grab the middle then get a corner. If your opponent is stupid, they won't block.
The correct way to win on that tic tac toe level is... to not be a dingus
what was with that "procure" overdub at the beginning?
edit: oooohhh.
how did I not notice that
@@DNXTMaster lol but wait, what did he actually say?
@@Kintaku watch the last minute of the video. he was having some trouble articulating the sentence. the overdub is most likely a meme by the editor after DGR fumbled the sentence
@@DNXTMaster 😂😂 I clicked off the video right before that part. Thanks
the tic tac toe lvl can be beat and dave was on the right path before chat mislead him
Tic-tac-toe is what game theorists call a solved game, meaning it has been proven what the result will be with perfect play on both sides. Not only that, but it's a strongly-solved game, which means the result can be correctly predicted from any position. Not only that, but it's such a simple game with so few possible moves that even the average ten-year-old can easily force a draw from either side. If the computer really does play perfectly, you can't win.
When you work in retail days of the week mean absolutely nothing
Oatmeal crème pies are gods gift to earth.
Dave, I hope you read this...
Regarding Tic-Tac-Toe, if both players play perfectly, then it is impossible for either player to win. Because the level forces you to play second, it's already impossible to win, the best outcome you can hope for is a draw. Tic-Tac-Toe is only ever won because your opponent makes a mistake, such as choosing a side space as your first move, rather than a corner or center. If your first move is to pick position 2, 4, 6, or 8, you've already lost.
Yes and in this case as Dave went second and the opponent went in a corner Dave had to go in the center, all other moves lose and the center draws. edit - spelling im stoopid
Oh so THAT'S why Chris suddenly edited in "procure" at the beginning lolll
Dave, the "pumpkin Goombas" are called "Goombrats" ("Goombuds" in SMW)
I cant understand english very wel but I love you still watching youre all videos ❤️❤️
Dave is Bob Fossil. He even has a talk box with all his words on it.
Creators churn so much of this impressive tech out.
Since you know how to play chess, you might enjoy the twist on it from Shotgun King: the Final Checkmate. It's got a free demo as well.

The whole Friday thing is good but not for people who work on weekends and Friday isn't their last day of the week, so it's probably your best day of the week but for most people, it's just another day to work and not be off until Monday or Tuesday,
Friday is the best
