Boston is old (for the US) going back 1630. Harvard, oldest US University, goes back to 1636. Obviously, compared to Paris…. First battles of the American Revolution were in Boston.
My son traveled the east coast and said Boston was his favorite place 😊 As an American who will more than likely never see Boston in person, I can't tell you how much your travel means to me. It looks like a beautiful place. I'd love to see all the history there. Thank you Marie! Love from Illinois. ❤
From Long Island, NY and I've only been there twice (once was for work) and me and 3 friends went to a Yankee/Red Sox game and everyone was great to us. Very friendly city and it definitely is pretty, and clean. And the clam chowder is out of this world! 😁
Boston is a very walkable city. When we were there we were walking 8-10 miles a day looking at all of the sights. So mich incredible US history is everywhere you look.
My ancestor also came to Plymouth from England in 1630. He married the granddaughter of 3 of the original Pilgrims. My paternal grandfather was born in Mattapoisett, moved to Portsmouth,NH to work at the shipyard and was a Merchant Marine in The Great War.
Boston's an unusual American city. You can walk around it. Also the architecture is great: "We built this three centuries ago and we see no reason to change it."
As a "Bostonian" (born and raised in the suburbs, but been there countless times), I absolutely agree. There's a reason one of our nicknames is "The Hub", because for a long time we were a major entry point for merchants and immigrants coming from Europe, and we were one of the largest cities in early-America, so we had a lot of European influences on our architecture and such. An incredibly cosmopolitan city that is quintessentially American, but with a strange flavor of a European city that is far more walkable than most U.S. cities. My favorite is the meme showing the grid lines of streets in New York and L.A., then it shows the winding/meandering Boston streets and just says "Boston street map: Because f*&k you!" HAHAHHA! Another oddity for us...very cosmopolitan, but crude as hell!
@@YouCanCallMeReTroeh, it's not that bad. Then again, I grew up in worcester with the old Kelley Square, I trained in that shit, so maybe I'm just well suited for high intensity games of 7-way chicken, lmao.
I loved this video, Marie. Boston looks beautiful and there’s so much history there. Also, the firefighter’s accent reminded me that JFK had a Boston accent too.
Welcome back to the USA. I love how you have more interest and reverence for American history than most Americans your age. I’ve been to Boston several times, mostly for work training but I have had opportunities to explore the city a bit. I hope you were able to see the USS Constitution sailing ship. Also check out The Green Dragon, one of the oldest bars and the Union Oyster House, one of the oldest restaurants in the US. Also the Old North Church and Paul Revere House, the story where he saw the lanterns in the church and rode all night to warn the British are coming…. But we always appreciate you coming to America. :)
Welcome back to the U.S. Marie. I laughed so hard when you were trying to put that seat belt on. It reminded me of the guy in the helicopter on the movie Jurassic Park. He finally gave up and tied it in a knot. Boston is a great place to visit. Hope you have a great time on your visit. Can't wait to see the next video.
Massachusetts native here. My dad grew up within the Boston city limits and my mom grew up in a town right outside Boston. You could see the city skyline from one street over from her house. I grew up going to Boston every week and my husband and I were in the North End a couple of weeks ago. I love Boston so much. Tons of history, one of the best sport’s cities in the country, and so much to do and see.
Bienvenue a Boston Dans Ma Chausette! My hometown . . . I was actually born in the neighborhood that encompasses the airport. It's called East Boston and rivaled the North End many years ago for its Italian immigrants. I learned about this funny way of saying Massachusetts (Dans ma chausette) when I lived in Paris. Hope you had a great time. I love this city.
I've lived in Boston my whole life (age 55). When I'm in other cities and tell people, during conversation, where I'm from. They always say "I love Boston!!!". I look at them with a confused look and ask "Why?" HAHAHAHA!
Bonjour Marie, welcome to Boston. You really put in quite a day (13 miles). I was hoping to hear you try speaking with a Boston accent, but no matter. I was glad to see you get upgraded to first class, and the seat belt experience was funny.
My birthplace, raised near here as well! So pleased you ended your US travel drought by visiting Boston, and in First Class too! As you know, this region is where the USA was born, and it's a wonderfully compact city in many ways, with so much to see. I am thrilled you are walking the same streets, seeing the same sights I grew up with! Wishing you a wonderful experience, looking forward to more videos! Welcome Marie!!
Great, Marie. Congrats. My husband and I were once upgraded to fist class on an overseas trip at Christmas time. I thought I would never, ever want to fly in the back again, but that was the only time I did. The flight was full, the lines were long and an employee picked us up from the line and took us into the plane. I always thought it was because we were the only ones well-dressed, I think my husband was wearing a necktie. 👍
Welcome to Boston and enjoy your time. We actually have a large French population here working in the Biotech industry including my next-door neighbors. Unfortunately this is about the worst weather you could see. Early March is half winter, half spring, and too wet. Come see it in Autumn sometime and you be amazed. You are correct that this is the most European city in the US.
I love seeing my city through other people's eyes, especially non Americans! Glad you visited. Come back during autumn time. You'll see beautiful leaves and trees. Our weather during this time of year isnt the greatest.
Boston! One of my favorite cities. Ah yes Faneuil Hall? That was such a fun place to visit and near the patriot walk. So many great restaurants in Boston...never wanted to leave it!
As someone from Boston I can translate for you if needed. He was kind of getting into specifics about how busy his fire station is and how they are first responders and what that means. It’s funny how much he broke it down for you. He must’ve loved having someone from so far away take an interest in what he does. It was very sweet to watch.
I took a train into Boston once when I lived in Connecticut. I remember there were swans living in Boston Common. I took a bus tour around some historical sites and ate at Hard Rock Cafe. Thank you for bringing back the memory.
So glad to see you visit Boston. One of my favorite U.S. cities and home for 4 years. As an architect, I worked on several of the big buildings downtown, including the one you showed with the large flag, Rowes Wharf. Great sports town.
I'm so glad you got to see Boston! Out of all the large cities i have been too, Boston is my favorite, people there are so kind, the food is amazing, and there is so much to see!
I'm from Massachusetts, live in Connecticut now. We used to go to Boston for field trips and day visits. Had my bachelorette party there. I love living right between two of the bigger cities in New England ❤❤❤
Boston c'est ville natale! I am so glad you like the city. It really is a nice and historic city. You covered quite a bit. Did you get to Cambridge too? You should come back again. Your English has improved so much since the time that you began doing videos. Don't get me wrong, it was always good but you are at another level entirely!
I’m a little jealous - Boston is a US city that I have still never been to! (and I’m on the East Coast, only a 7 hour drive away) So much history there - I definitely want to check it out - and to catch a baseball game in Fenway Park!
Also firefighters are some of the nicest people almost everywhere. I don’t know if what makes them go into a life-saving field also makes them so amiable but most of the ones I’ve met are super friendly and open. Maybe it’s just from working with all type of people means they’re extra kind but I’ve never met a grouchy one or one that wasn’t happy to show off their cool equipment or trucks 😂
Bonjour Marie! Glad to see you back in the States! The best thing about Boston is the History. Yes, it's not as old as European cities, but ti's plenty old and has a very rich US History. Teh ships in the harbor with the covers on them...looked like a giant spider had webbed them for later! LOL! Looking forward to your upcoming videos, and I still really hope that you can come to the MidWest this Summer (Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, etc...) Bonne journee! ~Be Blessed
I enjoy your videos for the authenticity of you experiencing things new to you. It's like having a friend expierence something commenplace to me as somthing new.
I’ve recently relocated to Boston from the Midwest of the US and I love seeing someone else who is as enamored with my new home as I am ☺️ I’ve only been here for a year and a half so I still have my Midwestern accent and I love encountering native Bostonians with the old school accent! Edit: I will admit I haven’t been to the North End yet except for work (I am a nurse and see patients in their home) because it’s an absolute nightmare to drive in 😭 It’s so cute and I want to explore but it’s sooooo frustrating to navigate
Very cool Marie!. I live 20 miles north of Boston near the coast, i hope you get a chance to travel up the coast a bit, maybe have some lobster or fried clams!
I hope you go back to Boston in the warm months. There is nothing like warm summer nights in Boston. It’s incredible. And then you’d want to go to the Cape and take advantage of so many other summer things in Mass, like the many ice cream spots at the dairy farms. New England is a gem.
I love that you love the States so much! You should just go ahead and immigrate and get on with the rest of your life as an American. You already fit in, people like you are what keeps America fresh and vital.
Wow Marie, you made it back to the States just in time for my birthday March 4! Welcome back, I'm so happy for you to get to come back for another adventure. Have fun! ❤️

My hometown! I speak English, French and Boston. But no - I couldn't follow what that guy was saying either - his accent was especially strong - stronger than most. I feel **exactly** how you do when I touchdown in France - same exact sentiments but in the opposite direction. Yeah the road signs, the architecture, the sound of people talking. I've passed by the State House many, many times but don't think I've ever been inside it. I think I'd say Boston is my favorite city in the US (of course I'm biased) but haven't actually lived there for many decades.
Like so many people, I lived in Boston for two years while I got a masters degree. I seriously considered staying there after college because there were a lot of things I liked about it. But as much as I loved the lobster, clams, and sailing, I couldn't get past the drivers and the taxes. And maybe it was just me, but I always had the feeling that no matter how long I lived there I'd always feel like an outsider. This isn't because people weren't friendly, because they really were, but you're never going to be part of the establishment and you're always going to be an outsider that they let play in their sandbox. You either are born there or you're an outsider. I did marry a wonderful woman from New Hampshire, however, which is also a beautiful place and gave me a good reason to visit.
Really fun watching someone visit home. Very wholesome video thanks for sharing it. Also, keep that firefighter patch! People collect patches and it's fun to have patches from different places.
That was wicked cute. I grew up just south of the city and having seen all the sights dozens of times, it’s kinda cool to see it through a fresh pair of eyes.
Woah, what a surprise to have you back already! You sure looked to be having lots of fun in first class!😂And that hostel looked pretty cool. I can't wait to experience one for the first time.🥳And as always, it's so sweet to hear your love of returning to the states every time.🤗
Fun fact: most people think Harvard is in Boston but it's not, it's in Cambridge, Ma which is Actually a suburb of Boston whereas cities like Charlestown home of old Ironsides (USS Constitution) is Boston sort of like Brooklyn is New York. The part of Boston you're in is what we call downtown it's like the city center and don't worry about understanding the accent that takes a while, many Americans have trouble with it also, especially when we forget to tone it down. I'm so happy you'll get to experience the history we grew up with and I hope you have a...........FrenchTastic time:)
Harvard proper, yes. Harvard Medical is in the Longwood Medical District, near Boston Children's, Brigham and Women's, and Beth Israel Deaconess. As well as Mass. College of Pharmacy.
@@MC-810 I understand that but when people come to visit Harvard and Harvard yard, they're not coming to see the business, dental, and public health schools most probably don't even know they exist.
My spiritual home! I grew up about 40 minutes drive northwest of Boston, and it still feels like home to me, even though I haven't lived there in 30 years.
Welcome back to America!!!! It makes me so happy to see a young person from another country wanting to learn about our history instead of just coming to America to eat fast food.
Magnificent vlog. Glad to see this trip was exceptional. I no longer fly economy class seatings (International). Sharing your first experience was gold. Looking forward to your next post.
I really enjoyed visiting Boston. I would have moved there (from Virginia), but it was too expensive, so I ended up out in Phoenix, Arizona. But I always do wonder what life would be like if I decided to move to Boston. It's one of my favorite big cities. Glad you're enjoying it too!
Welcome to my home Boston! I just watched your two Boston videos and the New Hampshire video. I so happy you liked your visit! I was working in the city the dates that you were here. When I get some time, I want to rewatch the videos to see if you happened to catch me or my car in the background. I have no idea if we were in the same spot at the same time, but that would be cool if we were. Thanks for your hard work editing and bringing these fun videos to us Marie!

That was wicked cute. I grew up just south of the city and having seen all the sights dozens of times, it’s kinda cool to see it through a fresh pair of eyes.
This is great!! Love watching your adventures.
The Business School, Dental School, and School of Public Health are on the Boston side of the river too.
@@MC-810 I understand that but when people come to visit Harvard and Harvard yard, they're not coming to see the business, dental, and public health schools most probably don't even know they exist.
Hello to you from Boston and welcome! I enjoyed hearing your early morning thoughts on your arrival to the US again.
My spiritual home! I grew up about 40 minutes drive northwest of Boston, and it still feels like home to me, even though I haven't lived there in 30 years.
Lol I grew up about 40 min south/southeast! In North Attleboro
Glad you enjoyed it here! It's a nice city for sure.
What a wonderful video of Boston. I'm jealous 😃. Your all over this beautiful country which I'll never be able to enjoy. Thank You Marie.
Welcome to MA. Marie! I hope you get time to explore more of New England. I'm excited to see what you think of our neck of the woods.
Welcome back 😀 I enjoy your videos along with everyone else. My first relative arrived in Boston harbor in 1631 on the ship the Lyon
You're adorable!.. Don't ever change..
Welcome back to America!!!! It makes me so happy to see a young person from another country wanting to learn about our history instead of just coming to America to eat fast food.
You should go to one of our sports games…we’re the greatest sports town in the country…always a good time…especially if we win👍
Born and raised here! Welcome. I LOVE your country too. Enjoy
Boston is a fantastic city. Enjoy! Too bad you are in Boston when it is cold and wet. There are great places to go when it is warm and dry outside.
You get extra points for visiting the Massachusetts State House. A lot of visitors don't.
Weeee! My Hometown!!! Welcome Marie!
Love the accents in Boston. Probably my favorite.
hey! thanks for coming and visiting our city!
Welcome to my town! Hope you had fun.
Tell me if you find yourself or your car in the background 😆 that's would be fun
One of my favorite cities! Go to Mike's Pastries in the North End and try the delicious fresh made cannolis.
