Funny enough, the baseball team that you went to go see (the Washington Nationals), the one that seemed like it couldn't be more American - is originally from a French speaking part of the world! Once, they were the Montreal Expos, in Quebec, Canada, and they would do announcements in both French and English as well as in their programs and other printed material. (In fact, there was a season where the game wouldn't even be broadcast in English at all!) They were there from 1969 to 2004 before relocating to the States, and there are still fans there hoping a team comes back to Montreal.
I remember listening to Dave Van Horne and Duke Snider commentating on all the Montreal Expos games on radio. Every so often, there would be a television simulcast on CTV from Montreal.
I love seeing people have fun and feel welcome in my country and not the same USA bashing you see on yt from people who have never visited. You’re welcome any time. Glad you had fun 🇺🇸
Hi Frenchie. Sorry that you had a rainy day for your baseball game. It really kept the crowd down and wasn't a typical American baseball experience. The more powerful medications are only available at the pharmacy, with a doctor's prescription. I lost track of you shortly after your Normandy trip, and it's good to see that you have a new channel and are doing well. Thanks Marie.
Bonjour Marie! You really made me laugh Marie! A young French woman comes to America and checks out all the French food items in the store lol!!!! With several photos of Marie with French Fries lol!!!!! Hope my fellow Americans made your time here here a truly wonderful and pleasant experience. I do hope you come back soon. Maybe come up here to Connecticut where I live. Connecticut is between New York and Boston. Hope to visit France some day soon. Maybe you can be my tour guide?!
There are different classes of medicines and Pharmaceuticals. Over the counter refers to drugs not requiring a prescription such as immodium, alka-seltzer, aspirin, sinus or cold medicines. However drugs that have serious side effects or may have significant other effects unless used properly are required to have a doctor's prescription and are then filled by a Pharmacist. The Pharmacy window in the background was closed and the Pharmacist off duty (after business hours). No Prescription drugs were being filled and the counter window locked and closed. I agree Xmas decorations out so early just devalues Christmas--makes it seem less special. There is another Holiday in between, Thanksgiving (my favorite).
""They'll watch the game and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game -- it's a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again." -- Terrence Mann, on just what the game of baseball means to American culture. And he's not wrong. Congratulations on your first live baseball game! You're an honorary American now!
One of these teams made it to the World Series last week. The Phillies. Only in America do we call it the World Series and don't invite the world to play... ; )) sorry for the rain.
You look as if you are starting your adventures in the USA off with a bang. Watching you at the Baseball game and Walmart was great. You look like a kid in a candy store. I'm so happy for you. I hope that your remaining adventures bring you much more happiness. I can't wait for your next video. Again stay safe!!!
Nothing says America than going out to the ball park. My second home when I was young was Tiger stadium in Detroit in which I lived close enough to walk to.
I always think how much things have changed as when I was a kid going to Tiger Stadium, pretty much you could only get hot dogs, pretzels, peanuts, ice cream, and cotton candy. Now Comerica Park, Ford Field, and LCA all have some really diverse and tasty options! The last Tiger Game I went to, my Employer has one of the special outdoor buffet eating areas, and then I ended up only watchinga few minutes of the game, as the rest of the time I spent walking around, going to the different food places, the Tiger Store, and my favorite place was the bar with the fire pit like counters and all the nice seating (I can never recall the name.)
Oh boy, you should see a Walmart Supercenter. The one by me had a Mcdonalds, mechanic/car service center, garden center, barber, nail salon, optician, etc
This truly made me smile. I am so glad that you had a blast at the ballpark. Too bad about the rain delay. I really liked the Rotty puppy. Can't wait for the other videos.
When I was living in Tahiti back in1973, I was with the family of a Tahitian policeman. He was about 180cm and 100 kilos. His name was Fredo Tetuamanuhiri. But his nickname was "Papi" :).
It rained at my first MLB game, too. I was 11 and convinced Mom to get my Dad and I tickets to a Father's Day game. Two rain delays, but I wasn't bothered. It was a little better attended because it was a holiday though. Also, as an Arkansan, I'm glad you got to go to a nice Walmart. We have nice ones here, because it's the headquarters. In some parts of the country they are super ran down and have a bad reputation.
The people you are with seem to be very nice and showing you around. I hope you are enjoying everything and that we in the USA are treating you in a good way ENJOY your time
I hope you had fun at the ballgame. Baseball is so American. It is a great sport! Holiday decorations??? Some companies like to get an early start. Have FUN! Save room for a ballpark hotdog and fries.. The best hotdogs are all beef. Hope you enjoyed the game. Rain is no problem, however if it starts to lighting get under something. Be safe.... The local Walmart has an eye doctor, a pharmacy, and car center... You can see almost anything at Wallyworld. In West Virginia WalMart is usually the largest employer in the area. Not a rule. In the produce section, those were peaches. Some grown right here in West Virginia. You are correct girl. Do not shop for food when you are hungry.. How was the piazza?
Christmas in October? Pfft... amateurs. Over a decade ago I worked at a Super Kmart that was chosen to be a test store for the new line of Martha Stewart holiday collections. 14 pastel color coordinated schemes (on top of the normal cheaper in-store brand), including trees, decorations, and a few metric tons of glitter. As the test store we had to have the entire Christmas set up on display and running by the second week of September. Four months of Christmas decorations.... The customers were extremely annoyed, some outright hateful, but no one hated it more than the workers. To this day, 12+ years later, I think I'm still carrying around some of that glitter that can never, ever, be washed off. PS: Most major retail chains in America start seeing the distinct red-striped cartons that are easily identifiable as Christmas merchandise start trickling into the stockroom around the end of July. Really picks up fourth-week Sept through October, so that it can all be set up by Nov 1st at the latest.
They do seem to be putting Holiday stuff out earlier and earlier. But, some of us work hard on Christmas displays, and need time to get stuff, plan, and set up.
Yay! Day 2 !! I am so excited for you, Marie! ✨🤗 Although it was a bit wet, looks like you had a great day! And, yes, I've said many many times - don't go shopping at Walmart when you're hungry! haha 🤣 There are waaaay too many tempting things in every row! It gets expensive quickly! 😋 The pizza looked really good too - and I've heard from many of my international friends, the ranch dip is so much better when it's freshly made! It varies in flavor a bit from place to place, but it's always very tasty! Yum! 🥰 See you on day 3 !! (I'm really enjoying these videos, hun! Thank you! 💗)
I wish the weather had been better for you up there, especially during the ballgame. Perhaps on your next trip, you can visit my great state of Texas so you can get some great Texas BBQ. Best wishes! 🙂
That was a lot of fun watching your reactions to our WalMart stores and to a live professional baseball game. Glad you had fun even though it rained. Hopefully you got to go to one on a sunny day. Watching a pro baseball game live is the best way to watch the game in my opinion. It was fun to see your perplexed reaction to the store having Christmas decorations out before Halloween is over. I grew up with it so to my mind it's normal but you're definitely not the only one who's felt it to be odd. An excellent video Marie! I had a great time watching it. Looking forward to the next one!
You do need a prescription for most medicines in the US, but some things are specifically allowed over-the-counter. I think you can buy paracetamol and things like that in any French pharmacy. It’s like that.
Ah, La vache qui rit! It was funny to see your joy at “The Laughing Cow”. It’s odd to see familiar things in a new way. I enjoyed this video a lot. Glad you had a great first weekend, Marie. I look forward to the next video. 👍
i just helped your sub count go up 1 more...i sure do love your Energy and Personality keep up seeing new places and meeting new people... much love 🥰🥰
5:55 LOL, it is not only Walmart but various supermarket branches can have their own built-in pharmacy and with pharmacy drive thru. Also, a stand alone pharmacy brand usually will have a mini market built in too, so in the end you'll find supermarkets with built-in pharmacies and pharmacies with built-in mini markets. You will find gas stations which also double as 24/7 mini markets.
Glad you are having a good time here!!!!! It is a joy to see you seeing a little of the country. Have fun and keep exploring, you never know what you may find!
The St. Louis Cardinals would be the best game to go to if you want the experience of a baseball game in America. There would have been 40,000+ people there rain or not
It’s too bad the Nationals were not very good this year and at the end of the year and on a rainy day the crowds are less but it’s OK! You still got to see a baseball game I love that you had a hotdog and enjoyed it, and I’m glad you got your own baseball card. :-) I totally agree with your sentiment that Walmart should wait on the Christmas decorations. Regardless, I love how you really took your time and explored all that Walmart had to offer. The peach confusion was amusing. :-) i’ve never heard of Brothers Pizza. Hope it was good. Thanks for this excellent video Marie!
Congratulations Marie on going to your very first Baseball game. And going to your very first Walmart store. You are an American because you got to do those 2 things.
Just for your information, you saw the Philadelphia Phillies play the Washington Nationals in baseball. The Philadelphia Phillies just won the play off games, and are now going on to take on the Houston Astros in the World Series. That is the Championship series. You saw a great game.
People bring their "support animals" into stores in US also you might see some on airplanes, in restaurants, etc. as long as they can behave or are trained and have a certificate they can go with their owner many places.
I'm a US citizen who has traveled all across Europe, and everything being so different is what is so cool. When you made a statement about how to flush a toilet I had to smile. My group traveling across Europe laughed about learning 101 ways to flush a toilet🙂
I've been to that Brother's Pizza. You were just down the road from me. There is a bagel shop just a few doors down from there that has wonderful treats.
Free refills used to not be a thing. The 70s was a rough time for a thirsty kid. Then one of the fast food places did free refills in the early or mid 80s. Maybe it was burger King. Then other fast food places followed like McDonald's and Wendy's. Then nicer restaurants. Then most every where. At first the fast food workers got your refill behind the counter for you. That proved to be a lot of extra hassle, so they put dispensers in the lobby area for self serve by the late 80s. Now even gas stations have you get slushies and fountain drinks yourself.
I have to write again that you posted an excellent video. Very well done! I hope that in the future you post a video that has the entire trip in it - from start finish.
OMG I am new to your channel (I lived in France for a year btw, but, that seems like a lifetime ago now). So sorry you got a *rainy* game day. It is so much more awesome when the sun is shining, and you just sorta hang out and eat/drink, talk, etc. Come up to Boston for a Red Sox game on another trip...
I'm so glad you had a good time at the ballgame even if it was raining. If it were sunny out, there'd have been thousands more people there. I loved seeing your reaction to Walmart. The beauty of America is that we take everything to the extreme and excess. Another thing you'll notice in cities is that they don't all close their doors in the evening. Many places, like Walmart, stay open 24/7. It's simply amazing seeing your reaction to everything. I hope this trip will be a fantastic experience for you, and that you'll come back to see more of this incredible nation next time. Luckily, we still have two weeks of videos to look forward to!
Some stores set up for Christmas early so that they do the layouts for their other stores. We used to do it in July, then the other stores would follow our plans.
Glad you enjoyed it here, though it's sad to see you didn't get the full Nats experience due to the weather. As someone who's been to many fully packed Nats games, there's nothing quite like it.
Bonjour Marie! Great video as always! Ugh, I'm SO sorry that it rained at the ballpark, but at least you had good seats and enjoyed your time there. Yes, stores in America have been putting out Christmas decor for sale as early as August for years, and now many put it out in July...some stores even have "Christmas In July" special price sales on items in the store (and not just on Christmas themed items...things like furniture and TVs and more!) UGH!!!! LOL! Halloween is huuuuuuge here, and Walmart does have a lot of Halloween stuff. HomeDepot, a place for tool and home repair items and such, has amazing large sized decorative items each year, you'd have been blown away! Yeah, I'm sure "French Bread Products" at Walmart are a joke. I think you'd have liked the baguettes, croissants, and brioches at a restaurant called Panera Bread (especially by comparison to Walmart) as it is a bakery themed restaurant. I woulda loved to see your take on their stuff, lol! But, there are bakeries that specialize in "French" breads and pasteries, and they're usually made by people who studied baking in France. Hope you're well! Bonne journee! ~Be Blessed
Too bad you didn't catch the Phillies in Philly. They are going to the World Series now. First time in 13 years. Yes, it is way too early for Christmas decorations. It use to be that we had Halloween at the end of Oct., then it is Thanksgiving at the end of Nov. and finally Christmas at the end of Dec. Now we're getting Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving.
Looks like you had fun! Bummer it was raining at the game so not a good crowd and we’ll the nationals didn’t have a good season so not making the playoffs probably made a low attendance too but who cares you got to see a game and a cool stadium!!
That's too bad you got rained on. It's a blast going to a baseball game on a sunny day. Apparently you went to a "neighborhood" Walmart. The really big ones are called Walmart Supercenters. Maybe you could shop in one before you leave. The video is really making me hungry...first the chili-dog, then the pizza! Watching you is a lot of fun! :)
Thanks for sharing, yes the Walmart Super Center Stores are ridiculously big, I abstain from those stores. I go to my local Walmart community market which is basically a grocery store with a pharmacy. Although you can by any and all over the counter medication, for prescription medication you do need a prescription from your doctor. Since the pandemic Walmart has special services for groceries. You can order your groceries on line, pay for them and then go to a designated parking spot and they will bring your groceries to your car. You can also have your groceries delivered to your house.
10:29 C'est une pêche.😆 Perhaps you got confused with what we call "nectarines" over here, or it's a different variety from what you might find in Europe, like blood peaches (pêche sanguine) or similar. Or you might be comparing it to Pêches de Vigne in France. We do carry those in the USA, but they aren't as abundant.
I always enjoy your excitement to American muscle cars. When I was 7 we went to Greece ,the family homeland and I was captivated by the sight of Citroens.
I love Nats Park. I'm not a baseball fan, but my wife is. She goes to a lot of games every year, and sometimes I go too. I love the food and the excitement, even if I don't really care who wins. Glad you had fun in spite of the rain. That was the nicest looking Walmart I've ever seen. I've avoided them since one opened in the small town where I grew up. It was pretty dirty and awful, so I never went back.
We even have another holiday after Halloween. Thanksgiving then Christmas. Walmart is all about the money so they get the Christmas out as soon as they can. Glad you're enjoying yourself.
Marie, I enjoyed watching you discover America. You are so fun to watch. If you ever visit the United States again, let me encourage you to visit the Midwest.
Too bad it rained during your first ballgame experience. I guess that's what kept a lot of fans from attending. But it looked like you had a good time. And you looked like you had a good time at Wal Mart. Great video and can't wait to see more.
I came across you’re channel a while ago and it popped up again to see you are in our country.. Wicked Awesome!! Sorry you got rained out for you’re first Ball Game! If you were in Boston the whole park would have been packed with people rain, snow, or whatever! Have fun exploring the USA!
(In fact, there was a season where the game wouldn't even be broadcast in English at all!) I remember how shocked I was when I visited Montreal a few years ago and found that people had a flame lit that they'd get their team back.
And Montreal keeps rejecting the idea of another team, even though they would be a prime candidate
They shouldn't have left Montreal
I remember listening to Dave Van Horne and Duke Snider commentating on all the Montreal Expos games on radio. Every so often, there would be a television simulcast on CTV from Montreal.
"Halloween isn't even over and they've already got the Christmas stuff out!!!" - Spoken like a true American! Lol!
You may be the only French woman who has publicly approved of the quintessential basic American cuisine: the chili-dog! Merci.
I love seeing people have fun and feel welcome in my country and not the same USA bashing you see on yt from people who have never visited. You’re welcome any time. Glad you had fun 🇺🇸
Again, she proves that her name is accurate. She is fantastic... Hope you enjoyed yourself... It's certainly our pleasure having you in the USA.
Hi Frenchie. Sorry that you had a rainy day for your baseball game. It really kept the crowd down and wasn't a typical American baseball experience. Yep that looked like a miserable baseball experience.
The funny fruit was a peach. Glad you are experiencing and having fun in America. Enjoy Maria

Fun video!! Sorry your first baseball game had to be in the cold rain haha I promise baseball is sooo fun in the summertime! Haha cheers!
Something I didn't know I needed to see: A French girl in the USA eating a french fry and giving a thumbs up.
Mustang ,Mustang.. et vache qui rit..Excellent ..

Aww thank you! 😇
Glad you enjoyed some American places, also love your nails !
"This place is huge. I'm ready to eat!" Haha too funny Marie. You look like you're having a great time, good for you. Looking forward to more videos!

The way you look at sporty cars, a trip to a dealer for a test drive might have been fun for you.
you might want to try a baseball game on a sunny afternoon

Hello ..To bad it was raining the day of the baseball game, on a nice day the stadium would have been full of people and a lot more fun 😊
Congratulations Marie on going to your very first Baseball game. And going to your very first Walmart store. You are an American because you got to do those 2 things.
FrenchTastic: always enjoy your videos, always entertaining. Thank you
So fun to watch some one react to what is mundane and every day for me.
😆 Yes, I am often guilty of grocery shopping while hungry. Looks like you had a good time.

when i go shopping for food if im hungry i want to pick up everything but if im not hungry nothing seems to be what i want
Hahaha
I have to write again that you posted an excellent video. Very well done!
I hope that in the future you post a video that has the entire trip in it - from start finish.
That video would be hours and hours long 🤣
@@FrenchTasticExplorations yup those are peaches, but if they look like that and are NOT fuzzy, they’re nectarines
Too funny, I live in Charles Town, WV. Hope you enjoyed our small town! Looking forward to watching all the videos!
I’m so happy that you enjoyed yourself when you visited the America the little Puppy was so cute
Some stores set up for Christmas early so that they do the layouts for their other stores. We used to do it in July, then the other stores would follow our plans.
Glad your having a good time.
~Be Blessed
Great video! Looking forward to seeing more!
Bummer it was raining at the game so not a good crowd and we’ll the nationals didn’t have a good season so not making the playoffs probably made a low attendance too but who cares you got to see a game and a cool stadium!!
nice!!😉😊 sry the game was wet.
Glad everything went well for you, where have you been, haven't seen you in a long time! 💕💕💕💕
Come to Florida! You'll have a great time. 😁
Everybody forgets about Thanksgiving Marie.. to early to put Christmas stuff out.. hope your having a good time, can't wait to watch the videos...
The new seasonal merchandise does go out seemingly early because as one group of seasonal items sell down there would be empty shelves otherwise.
Great video. Looks like you are having fun. Can't wait for more videos. Stay well and be safe. I hope you get to travel some.
Once again, I'm looking forward to your entire USA adventure !
You must have been a good luck charm for my Phillies!
'Even a small Walmart is huge'. Very true. Too big most times. I would prefer a smaller place with smaller selection. But your legs don't cramp up.
I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy a true ball game in good weather with a full crowd and a real game feeling !!!
Wait for my football game experience... 🤣
Glad you got to enjoy one small part of the States. So much to explore it takes a life time.
I am really glad that you posted ..I have been missing your smiling face and great disposition .. glad you had a nice experience
