Funny enough, the baseball team that you went to go see (the Washington Nationals), the one that seemed like it couldn't be more American - is originally from a French speaking part of the world! Once, they were the Montreal Expos, in Quebec, Canada, and they would do announcements in both French and English as well as in their programs and other printed material. (In fact, there was a season where the game wouldn't even be broadcast in English at all!) They were there from 1969 to 2004 before relocating to the States, and there are still fans there hoping a team comes back to Montreal.

""They'll watch the game and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game -- it's a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again."
-- Terrence Mann, on just what the game of baseball means to American culture.
And he's not wrong. Congratulations on your first live baseball game! You're an honorary American now!

Hi Frenchie. Sorry that you had a rainy day for your baseball game. It really kept the crowd down and wasn't a typical American baseball experience. The more powerful medications are only available at the pharmacy, with a doctor's prescription. I lost track of you shortly after your Normandy trip, and it's good to see that you have a new channel and are doing well. Thanks Marie.

There are different classes of medicines and Pharmaceuticals. Over the counter refers to drugs not requiring a prescription such as immodium, alka-seltzer, aspirin, sinus or cold medicines. However drugs that have serious side effects or may have significant other effects unless used properly are required to have a doctor's prescription and are then filled by a Pharmacist. The Pharmacy window in the background was closed and the Pharmacist off duty (after business hours). No Prescription drugs were being filled and the counter window locked and closed. I agree Xmas decorations out so early just devalues Christmas--makes it seem less special. There is another Holiday in between, Thanksgiving (my favorite).

Free refills used to not be a thing. The 70s was a rough time for a thirsty kid. Then one of the fast food places did free refills in the early or mid 80s. Maybe it was burger King. Then other fast food places followed like McDonald's and Wendy's. Then nicer restaurants. Then most every where. At first the fast food workers got your refill behind the counter for you. That proved to be a lot of extra hassle, so they put dispensers in the lobby area for self serve by the late 80s. Now even gas stations have you get slushies and fountain drinks yourself.

I always think how much things have changed as when I was a kid going to Tiger Stadium, pretty much you could only get hot dogs, pretzels, peanuts, ice cream, and cotton candy. Now Comerica Park, Ford Field, and LCA all have some really diverse and tasty options! The last Tiger Game I went to, my Employer has one of the special outdoor buffet eating areas, and then I ended up only watchinga few minutes of the game, as the rest of the time I spent walking around, going to the different food places, the Tiger Store, and my favorite place was the bar with the fire pit like counters and all the nice seating (I can never recall the name.)

Christmas in October? Pfft... amateurs. Over a decade ago I worked at a Super Kmart that was chosen to be a test store for the new line of Martha Stewart holiday collections. 14 pastel color coordinated schemes (on top of the normal cheaper in-store brand), including trees, decorations, and a few metric tons of glitter. As the test store we had to have the entire Christmas set up on display and running by the second week of September. Four months of Christmas decorations....
The customers were extremely annoyed, some outright hateful, but no one hated it more than the workers. To this day, 12+ years later, I think I'm still carrying around some of that glitter that can never, ever, be washed off.
PS: Most major retail chains in America start seeing the distinct red-striped cartons that are easily identifiable as Christmas merchandise start trickling into the stockroom around the end of July. Really picks up fourth-week Sept through October, so that it can all be set up by Nov 1st at the latest.

5:55 LOL, it is not only Walmart but various supermarket branches can have their own built-in pharmacy and with pharmacy drive thru. Also, a stand alone pharmacy brand usually will have a mini market built in too, so in the end you'll find supermarkets with built-in pharmacies and pharmacies with built-in mini markets. You will find gas stations which also double as 24/7 mini markets.

Save room for a ballpark hotdog and fries.. The best hotdogs are all beef. Hope you enjoyed the game. Rain is no problem, however if it starts to lighting get under something. Be safe.... The local Walmart has an eye doctor, a pharmacy, and car center... You can see almost anything at Wallyworld. In West Virginia WalMart is usually the largest employer in the area. Not a rule. In the produce section, those were peaches. Some grown right here in West Virginia. You are correct girl. Do not shop for food when you are hungry.. How was the piazza?

Thanks for sharing, yes the Walmart Super Center Stores are ridiculously big, I abstain from those stores. I go to my local Walmart community market which is basically a grocery store with a pharmacy. Although you can by any and all over the counter medication, for prescription medication you do need a prescription from your doctor. Since the pandemic Walmart has special services for groceries. You can order your groceries on line, pay for them and then go to a designated parking spot and they will bring your groceries to your car. You can also have your groceries delivered to your house.

Your first US major sporting event!! ⚾ I know you have been waiting for this day for a long time. Unfortunately, it rained, but I see that did not dampen your enthusiasm. Yes, lots of 🎃 items this time of year. Were you able to see some houses decorated for Halloween? Some people really get into the spirit. I also do not like that retail stores display X-mas products this early in the year. Thankyou for sharing your journey with us. Eagerly awaiting your next vlog. ❤❤🏈🏈

OMG I am new to your channel (I lived in France for a year btw, but, that seems like a lifetime ago now). So sorry you got a *rainy* game day. It is so much more awesome when the sun is shining, and you just sorta hang out and eat/drink, talk, etc. Come up to Boston for a Red Sox game on another trip...

I've been to that Brother's Pizza. You were just down the road from me. There is a bagel shop just a few doors down from there that has wonderful treats.

    Salut 😃 ⚾
For your first weekend in the states it must have been so exciting that you had to pinch yourself that it was real, seeing you at a big 🏟️ at long last was awesome even know it wasn't the best of games along with the rain it didn't dampen your spirits & keep on smiling through, I wish you got to join in with the baby 🦈 shark dance mascot like a few years ago when Gerardo Parra( 88) & the Nationals won the series anyway that Chil dog sure was delicious. 😋
Going to Walmart it looked like they've got everything you want for a spooky Halloween 🎃 a candy crazed sugar rush maybe I would give those cookies a try, ain't candy covered apples always been traditional to didn't see any. It's funny about the peaches I wouldn't think there any different in France, it's nice they've got belvita biscuits , as for the baguettes maybe they just stick a label on & call it french, you would know if it's the same texture or not, they do say you can buy just about anything there & there is a lot of weird stuff I've come across including a giant pillow shaped like a baguette , a squirrel picture you can stick in a toilet, why would you, chia pet pots shaped like TV characters including the golden girls, so weird & pizza flavoured ice cream maybe you missed it yuk! . Your right about Xmas, profit comes before respecting tradition like in Europe, it's annoying when as early as September it's on all the shopping channels, believe it or not some people buy their decorations during the summer it's supposed to be cheaper then, don't you mostly just use the same ones as last year, this winter going to be extra hard on everyone, I hope your all prepped & ready out there .
What better way to round up a trip then with a pizza 🍕 does it really matter how you eat it don't most people just use their hands when it cools down, looked crispy & tasty.
Driving past those Mustang's earlier on , if you really want to drive one there's nothing stopping you, there has to be someone at a car show who's generous enough, maybe you could rent one for a day, anyway thanks again it's been joyful following your adventures , looking forward to episode 3 , if you do carve & light up a pumpkin & other spooky stuff please do share, all the best, have a wonderful weekend. 💗🍁🌈 🐕 ✌️

Consumerism in America. Glad you liked Walmart I personally hate Walmart. You got to a baseball game that's great. So glad you are having fun. Stay safe and don't eat too much.

Perfect day for a ball game. Probably in the 40s. Rainy. 2K people there. No atmosphere like a summertime game at All ! Well... at least you made it to an MLB stadium !!!

You really need to see a baseball game on the west coast. Like Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on a sold-out warm summer night wearing only shorts and no sleeves. It is not a baseball game when it's wet, cold, and raining out with no crowd.

I'm a US citizen who has traveled all across Europe, and everything being so different is what is so cool. When you made a statement about how to flush a toilet I had to smile. My group traveling across Europe laughed about learning 101 ways to flush a toilet🙂

Even at Walmart you need to see a doctor first before getting a prescription filled. Those items you saw were considered OTC (over the counter) which means they don't require a special prescription and are not controlled drugs.

Too bad it rained during your first ballgame experience. I guess that's what kept a lot of fans from attending. But it looked like you had a good time. And you looked like you had a good time at Wal Mart. Great video and can't wait to see more.
