At the end where they talk about the descender's death, it was actually Xiuhcoatl talking, not Xbalanque. I compared the voice in all 3 languages and it seemed pretty similar. Also Xbalanque is not listed in the VA list in the Chinese and Korean trailer. So it's most likely Xiuhcoatl talking to Ronova after the death of the 3rd descender.
@@TimeWager Interesting, though I really don't hear it. I've compared the voice in JP only and considering the tone, voice and place of the exchange it was clear it was Xbalanque. But how do you know of Xiuhcoatl's voice? The voice we hear in the trailer is the one of Gosoythoth, as it is the same one we hear ordering Xiuhcoatl to become a servant of the Abyss, and the one with "Xiuhcoatl" talking, as I've compared them as well and mentioned it in the video. I'd be REALLY interested in seeing an exchange between a Shade and a Sovereign considering well... Their history
@@SerAoth the similarity is much more obvious in the Korean version. In the VA section, Ronova is credited, but there's no mention of Xbalanque (according to google translate atleast). Besides it makes more sense for a dragon to be involved with the topic of descenders because as far as we are aware, Xbalanque had no connection to any descenders. As for my reasons as to why I believe it's Xiuhcoatl is because of the context. Whoever that voice is, they are clearly angry or frustrated. He calls out that someone has "destroyed this world's hope with their hands". It doesn't make sense for Gosoythoth a reaper of the abyss to say this considering their entire motive is to destroy. It makes sense if one of the 7 sovereigns to say this as they have witnessed the horrors of the abyss. Sure, they are not on friendly terms with Phanes either but they do know that he possesses the power to supress the invasion of the abyss(like celestial nail). Abyss infects all being from the light realm and the human realm, including the sovereigns. He might've thought that the only way to defeat the abyss is to use the power of a descender, as in the line "The life of a descender is more valuable than you can imagine". As for when this conversation takes place, it could be a flashback scene or a scene inside Mavuika's journey like in previous versions.
@@TimeWager Hmm I can see your angle, though I don't see a Sovereing caring much for a Descender's intervention as they despise them for having stolen their world, and the dragon race as a whole is really resentful towards pretty much anything that is external to the Light Realm. The world of Teyvat is not their world anymore, if you get what I mean, so why would Xiuhcoatl care for its future, when it's been known that Pyro Vishaps have lost their progress and that the Pyro Sovereign is decrepit, right? The only one who turned to an external source was Nibelung, and rather than rely on a Descender, they aimed for the forbidden knowledge from the Abyss, instead of anything close to humanity. I recall a text also mention that, after the war, the dragons including the Sovereigns had no choice but to flee or be executed, so it would seem strange to me that a Shade and a Sovereign would come to talk... But there are genuinely so many factors that could make this possible, I wouldn't finish typing if I start listing them. Though of course, there's no topic on the fact that this voice would be the one of Gosoythoth, which is why for me it is only the voice of Xbalanque matching as I took a long time finding same words said by both voices, basing myself off of the JP trailer, naturally. To me, at least, it fully makes sense that Xbalanque would be involved in the business of Descenders, considering his hopes for the world, his knowledge of them (as not only was an archon but he was the first who ascended to Celestia) but exchanged with a Shade himself, who better than him to be aware of a Descender's value? He would react to himself being given a Gnosis following the Archon War and the balance of the world not being sustained, and be discontent with the cost of it as that Gnosis will effectively do nothing for his land and only help maintain a temporary stability after the HP had their original powers ruined by the war. If other languages open new options, that makes it very crispy, as it would make Xiuhcoatl all the more interesting if they are revealed to have had such an unlikely talk with a Shade
@@SerAoth honestly I do see your point. But it's not too outlandish to believe Xiuhcoatl might care about descender. Because as far as I know, they only have problem with Phanes. We don't really know if they have problem with the others. I mean Neuvi had no agressive reaction towards us, but then again he knows us personally so that must factor in. But Sovereigns do still care about this world. Atleast Neuvillette and Apep both do. Apep still carries Nibelung's words in her heart and Neuvi straight up says that he will undertake all that is broken. Xiuhcoatl was already a walking corpse infected by the abyss when he was slain by Xbalanque. That was why Waxaklahun described him as old and decrepit. The conversation between him and Ronova could've also happened after the great war of vengeance enacted by Nibelung who came back to Teyvat with forbidden knowledge. That was also the moment the dragons realised that the power of abyss was too much for even them to handle. But yes, it is indeed strange for a sovereign to talk to a shade considering their history. But the chances of the voice being Xbalanque is low because his VA is not credited in the description (Ronova is credited though). Unless Hoyo forgot to put his name in, it can't be him. I did some research and the folks on r/Genshin_Lore says that the male voice sounds like Xiuhcoatl without the echo. This echo-less voice might be his original voice and the one with echo is the one Gosoythoth mimicked. Yea your points about Xbalanque are valid, idk why I never thought like that. But was it confirmed he was the first to ascend to Celestia out of the 7? There's also the possibility that this dialogue is just a red herring. It's not the first time they did something this. (Looking at you "Is this what justice means to you? Answer me Neuvillette!")
Thanks for the suggestion, I've discovered the tags on my 2nd video or so though, I'm happy with even just a few people listening to me if it has to stay like that
Okay about the first option: you seemed to imply that the Lord of the Night gets to decide how to execute Ronova's powers(that would make sense cause the Night Kingdom is associated with leylines irminsul and fate so she can make death happen and guarantee she'll have material for the debt, and then she can also decide exactly whose death is paying the debt), so Capitano talked to her to arrange for him and his khaenriah soldiers to "die"/pay the debt for mavuika. If that is the case, then the Ode won't accidently take out the traveler unless something wrong happens on the Lord of the Night's end. Btw, your video is awesome, I would agree the second option is more likely.
You're entirely correct, the Lord of the Night AND the Night Kingdom are a creation of Ronova, back when she still loved the land after all, although I didn't think about the option with Capitano and his troops, it absolutely falls in line with his plan and it really is in character for him. I didn't come to that conclusion since I tunneled on the "death of a descender" topic, I didn't want to exaggerate and say that "maybe Capitano is revealed to be a Descender?" but it felt too absurd to sound serious (unlike Mavuika's secret), would've been great clickbait though but I don't want to value clicks over consistency Also thanks a lot, I'm really glad you enjoyed and took the time to give me those extra thoughts!
@@SerAothoh wow the Night Kingdom was made by Ronova, I completely missed that. Ah I see so Capitano would have to be a descender so he can be allowed to change fate by negotiating with Ronova who can control fate with the Night Kingdom? I am confused by the definition of Descender, like can it be anyone with a strong enough will, so like vision weilders will but stronger, or does this only apply to people who come from outside of teyvat? What also confuses me is that Descenders have a will strong enough to "break rules of fate" and there are only 4 descenders but several beings who control fate(like shades). This would mean that the beings who control fate would have to align with one another, or else they would break each others rules and be defined as descenders.
@@sgourn TL;DR: No one other than possibly Phanes or "Fortuna", if she is real can control fate, Shades control the concept tied to their specific "role" but can overstep their authorities. Ronova cannot control fate, as far as we know, that would overstep her authorities as a Shade and she already did with her pact with Xbalanque... But Fate has been hinted at multiple times as something of divine nature, humans who attempt to defy it and nearly manage it get severly punished by the Heavenly Principles (The first humans, Remuria...), and Remurians also imply that fate is "something" and they name it Fortuna, for a long time making me believe that Fortuna would be one of the 4 Shades, as it fits in the Orphic Phanes mythology. If you're curious about Fortuna, check out my "Secrets of: Fontaine" video, I'm aware it's pretty bad as it's my first video but the points still get across nicely I believe. Regarding your question, it's a very interesting one. Descenders are, for now, strictly outsiders and none ever sprung up from Teyvat, but there was many children in the Crimson Dynasty who were of divine lineage and did not rise up to become Descenders. One child, Perinheri, managed to see the true face of the Crimson Moon, elevating him to great heights. It's possible this means that Arlecchino is a Descender, considering her nature... But that also depends on her will and what she wishes to achieve. There is also the case of Narzissenkreus, the regular human who wished to become a Descender and prevent the prophetic flood of Fontaine, and he REALLY could've achieved. His plan was to absorb all of humanity in himself, to become a neo-human, and would this have worked he would have become the first human Descender, despite the wiki saying that there has been no signs of a Descender ever hailing from Teyvat. The Shades are technically Descenders, but they are not: Phanes, the Primordial One, is the first Descender, but all of the Shades come FROM Phanes, so they are also Phanes, reflecting back on what I said about Ronova not having control over fate, perhaps Phanes itself. I am done typing now I promise
I think it’s a third option: Gosoythoth was mimicking Xblanque’s voice. It was stating that she doomed the world with her own hands because Gosoythoth is taunting them and acting as if their victory is assured, so bringing him along to fight means he will die and doom the world.
That's correct, since the game dropped the fact afterwards, I've even explained that in the last video I just released. I hadn't thought then that Gosoythoth could impersonate multiple beings at once
