Thanks for the video. Appreciate all the work. Can I ask a question? Why are there different terrains outlined throughout the map? At first I thought it would help with the narrative situation, but when one player moves from say open to defensive stance, they would be in a different terrain spot so that doesn't seem to fit (i.e. moving from open to "forward" from the top left terrain puts you from a forest onto a bridge - which doesnt' make sense to me). Is it just for aesthetic? Thanks!
I think it’s there for aesthetic purposes and seemed to have been a last minute decision as I recall, Franseco said the artist/cartographer needed to take some time after completing it. I think there was some intention of having varied looks to adapt to settings where a battle takes place, but if there are lots of heroes versus adversaries have no choice but to use the other areas of the map. It’s a gorgeous drawing however and looks great spread out across the table! Thanks for watching and hopefully the videos don’t lead astray!
Thanks for the explanation of how to use this. When a new combat round begins, are all the stances AND engagements ‘reset’, allocating PCs and foes afresh? This would seem a bit weird, unless combat is like a flurry of quick engagements, and then a surge against new opponents. 🤔
You’re correct, definitely as flurry of quick engagements! When a new round begins, those in close combat can switch close combat stances, but if still engaged after the previous round, maintain so. Any who has killed their adversary, would have the choice of engaging in close combat again another adversary, or move to rearward. Keeping in mind engagement limits. For the Loremaster, they would decide on what to do with any adversaries standing back.
FL just added it to the DriveThruRPG under the Moria supplement, so if you have/buy the supplement, you'll get the link for it through DriveThruRPG. Not sure if they'll release separately!
Not aware of any rule changes re: combat stances and engagement. As long as you have at least two in forward stance, one or more can be in rearward. If you only have say two players, no one can be in rearward as you need to follow the “two engaged in close combat” rule. Also, if the number of enemies is more than double the heroes, then no one can assume rearward.
@@RyanoftheNorth I can only imagine that it was - it doesn't seem connected to Moria specifically. It seems rather coincidental for the team to have included it, almost as if they've been paying attention to the Discord for the past 6 months...
Love your vids!
Thanks for the comment! Hope they've been helpful!
Annnnd I was just getting used to the combat circle (hugely helpful, thank you). Will have to A/B them if/when I get around to picking up Moria.
Happy that it helped! Really like how they made this one, and of course the artwork is perfecto! Thanks for the feedback!

"Now that the Combat Diagram is widely available as a pdf..." Where?

So, when you said "now" you meant NOW now, ok. Would explain why i couldn't find it, then, yeah. Thanks!
You should have had an update, if you are a Kickstarter backer or if you have ordered the book you should get all the updates via Drive Thru RPG.
This is great but I'm still using my version of the UDT system. Which is close to how you use it.
Yeah the UDT is still a great tool, and not everyone has a copy of Moria to get the Combat Diagram!
I thinks that there needs to be more free people to be able to be in rearward stance, or have the rules been rewriten?

How does it feel having your own homebrew being given an official reproduction?
It would be very cool if the combat circle had been some influence! And the diagram looks so much better, just amazing artwork.
