Funny after living in Orange County for 50 years I still don't miss paying to fish Irvine or Santa Ana lakes with one hundred other people. But then again we left 3 years ago and I have 12 lakes within 20min of me now. But I still gave a thumbs up for the good video.

Thx for the awesome video as always. I do have a general question about drop shot baits in general. I’m new to this method for trout and looking at colors you take with you. Do you take certain types of colors, like a white, maybe a lime green, then a root beer or something like that? What I’m thinking is get 3 or 4 colors in a small bait and a larger bait and try that. Thank You for any advice...PerryC

Good video. I caught an 11.5 lb trout last month at Santa Ana using a kastmaster, Phenix feather, and 4lb izorline line xxx smoke. That place will make you pay your dues for sure.
Damn thats a nice fish, but you definitely had the right set up to get that beast in 🤘. Im getting a bit obsessed with that place trying to figure out the bite haha
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors seems like the inlet is pretty good. I’ve caught quite a few fish from that area.
@@Lasurge1982 yeah its definitely a good spot but it gets crowded. I just try and avoid the crowd a bit, well, as much as you can at SARL haha

Hey brother we were out there I believe Monday we caught two lightning trout 2 both of them weighing at 2 lbs each and we got a 7 pound trout rainbow trout and two two and a half pound rainbow trout pretty good day I'm going to upload my video so if you want to check that out you guys look like you guys slated to as well all right brother you have a good one good catch

I subscribed I love the content and you fish SARL a lot which is to me one of the tougher lakes to fish around here. Have you ever tried drop shot trout worms or those fatheads you got? Killed it on the double drews fatheads the last time I was there. I have way more success with those then the split tail minnows.
Yeah I do but I just dont seem to have much luck with them. I see other folks use them and kill it. I think its just me hahahahaha
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors if drop shorting a trout worm try shortening it up a bit. Tear off the top inch or so than add to your hook. Will give it a little more sturdy jig action and less chance of a short bite on them.

Someone once told me that a great day of fishing at sarl involved a gram of coke or a bottle of Hennessy. They weren’t kidding lol. Also did you end up getting your legalis yet? I’m looking for a new reel and can’t decide between the Sahara or the legalis.
Just get both. I have both and I switch back and forth now haha
