- In this video we visited Santa Ana river lakes. One of Southern California's most popular fishing lakes which is heavily stocked every Thursday. During the colder months they are stocked with the hard fighting Mt. Lassen rainbow trout and sometimes lightning trout. In the summer months they bring in the catfish and talapia. I had a successful day of fishing targeting rainbow trout.

If you are going fishing soon, let me know where! If you haven't seen our last fishing video from Convict lake in the Eastern sierra, check it out here! ruclips.net/video/yti4CQGt_mI/видео.html
I'm watching it now. I've wanted to go to convict for years. But 7 kids doesn't allow me to go. I need to be close for emergencies. Which happen ever time I'm gone it seems. 😆 🤣 😂
I have he'll go pros too . I wanted to start a channel but just do t have the ? I'm scared or embarrassed I'm not sure. But I do catch fish.
Headed to convict lake may 27 2023. Tips?
What garlic spray are you using on your jugs?
Jigs😂
I’ll tell you all a secret about SARL.. never stop fishing. I’ve seen so many give up in a few hours. You have to fish that lake hard to be rewarded! Never stop casting your jig. Never know when the next cast might be the one! Good luck out there.. 💪😎
I agree with you on that. I also felt like stopping but kept going, moving from spot to spot and the last 2 trips were a grind but successful. Both days did take the full day as well. I’ll probably start going out there more often during the trout season. See you out there!
Hi bud, #2 was chunky, glad it was a good day for the HOOK UP 👍🎣🎣,
#3 too, thx for sharing.nice
Thanks for watching Joe! Definitely a fun day of fishing. Do you fish out there as well?
Good job men nice fishing 🎣
Thank you!!
Lake Diaz at Lone Pine is a 'mud hole' of sorts. I believe it was formed by an earthquake no inlet or outlet so the water is fairly nastified I'll fish there but normally give the fish away. The fish have this weird coating on them that is ain't exactly appetizing. Caught a decent bass there once tossed it back...
I have yet to fish Diaz lake but I saw a lot of people camping there driving up to mammoth for opener.
@@ExploreNaturesCatch Diaz is hit or miss. Once the weather starts to heat up you have to deal with jet skis then it's a hard pass for us. We're leaving after midnight next Friday should put us at the Lone Pine sand trap at day light fish it for 90 minutes or so go in to town to the Mt Whitney Cafe get some breakfast then fish Diaz for a while, catch nothing then work our way north.
Love watching the channel…I am a fellow Orange County resident who also spends summers/winters in the eastern Sierras!! Would love a list of spots you hit up in the socal area for those urges to fish when I can’t get out for a weekend trip up the 395!! Again, awesome content and love the channel!!
Thank you for watching. Local lakes should start stocking trout again sometime in November. Some of the lakes we fish locally are silverwood lake, Prado regional park, lake Gregory, green valley lake, big bear, Yucaipa regional park, Santa Ana River lakes, diamond valley lake. The regional parks tend to get pretty crowded which makes me hesitant to go there sometimes. Silverwood lake did announce they will begin stocking in November so I will most likely be there when they do. Hope to see you out on the lake! Thanks again for watching!
Nice video. Havent been there in a long time. I rather head up to big bear lake or any other mountain lake..
Thanks, yeah it’s been over a decade since I fished sarl. I would definitely prefer big bear or something more scenic for sure. It’s just really close so I thought I give it a try. I need another trip to the mountains asap!
Beautiful fish, do you recommend eating them? Or is it catch n release?
Thank you. At this particular lake I keep them to eat. Some other lakes I fish, I do release some. Thanks for watching!
You went last week. Wtf really bro Hella surprised they still biting. Wow. Crazy
This was actually the stock a week before the last trout stocking. I did go for the last one too and did alright. Lost a good amount.
Hey man those are some nice catches 🙏🏻 I have been to Lake Gregory about 6 times in the past month and have had an wild open bite !! You should give it a shot I would love to run into you and share some tips for the lake🎣
Thanks Gabriel! Yeah i've been thinking about going to Gregory too. I did pretty well the last couple trips out there. I know they just got a healthy stock. I'll let you know when I plan to fish out there. Would appreciate any advice you provide. Thanks for watching.
I've been wanting to check out this spot. I see the amount of fish they stock in there and it's insane. I mean 10 15 pounders.I'll have to get down there soon.
Yeah it’s been awhile for me too. They do stock huge fish in here. Their last trout stock was last week though. They switched over to catfish now. I fished here the past couple weeks and did decent. I’ll probably start coming here sooner when they start up the trout stocks for a chance at those BIG ones.
Yeah I'm subscribed to the planting channel there. You problem are too. But I see all the big trout they stock in there.
Sadly no joke allot of the big trout that get planted die. If the water tem or the ph are too different they don't do well. Allot of them go to the bottom and become fish foood. It's sad
Nice fish, Cary! I haven't fished The Mud Hole since I went there as a kid with my dad over half a century ago. Do they only stock trout during the fall and winter, or can you fish trout there all year? Not crowded there, I remember fishermen elbow to elbow when we used to go there.
Thanks! Yeah its been awhile for me fishing this lake too. I've always avoided it because of the crowds but it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. Maybe the crowd thinned out since it was towards the end of the trout season for them. Yeah they only stock trout the colder months. They changed over to catfish already. I also went on the last trout stock a couple weeks ago and did pretty well. I will probably take more trips out here once they start up the trout again. Thanks for watching!
I work down the street from there and have never been. Don't want to pay the price lol
I hear you on that. With a float tube it costs me $42.. I can’t keep doing that lol. I did go the past 2 weeks though.
I want to go for 3 sundays in a row what gear should I go buy at bass pro shops ?
I went the last 2 Sunday’s and it was pretty good. They stopped stocking trout and switched over to catfish now though. For trout I always stick to an ultralight rod with 4lb test p-line floroclear. I also like the pflueger president spinning reel size 25. Okuma sst trout spinning rod, ugly stiks, I use a Californian rod from turners for jigging.
What part of the lake where you at?
I was near the pump house and the bubble hole.
Oops! You said no trout in the summer months.
