So I really wanted to buy one for myself. In the UK you can only buy a hand full of their products. Which is a shame for people not in the US. So I hope they bring from products over! Nice - I think Powermatic make the best machines out there! That machine should have the ability to set your absolute units. Maybe it is something you just haven't figured out yet? I have a Supermax 19-38 and bought the digital gauge to go with it, which worst case scenario, you could add that to your machine. Congrats.

    The amazing thing to me is that across the pond American equipment is viewed as high quality, yet I myself at least yearn for equipment from there ( Felder CNC's, altendorf sliding table saw ect). Distance making the heart grow fonder I guess 😁

      Hey man, well you are very lucky to have powermatic, because they really are great machinery. yes we do have felder and wadkin, but i still like powermatic. the issue with wadkin is... they were made like beast (all cast iron) but because it's an old company it's very hard find replacement or space parts, and powermatic is like the current day wadkin. and Felder is very big machinery for very large shops... maybe one day ahahaha

    I was looking at this sander myself so would be keen to see a review. I would be interested to see how it does at sanding shop sawn veneer - how thin can it go and is it consistent. And also on larger pieces like table tops - does it bog down or deflect when heavier timber is being passed through?

    • @SeanEvelegh
      @SeanEvelegh  4 года назад

      Hi Henry, thank you for watching. yes in the future i probably will do a review on the machine. if you where looking for a drum sander, the big three everyone talks about are the Powermatic, Jet and the Supermax ones. I have used the jet, and the powermatic, but not the supermax. I believe the powermatic is the best made out of them all.

    • @SeanEvelegh
      @SeanEvelegh  4 года назад

      @@adrianluica6960 yes you should be able to do it, the sand paper will get clogged quicker and you would be to clean it with a rubber block after every pass... it's the best open ended drum sander you can buy in my opinion. however if you are doing lost of large table tops, I would recommend getting a bigger duel drum sander

    • @adrianluica6960
      @adrianluica6960 4 года назад

      @@SeanEvelegh Yes I know but a 900mm sander is more than 5000 Euro. Somehow I need a drumsander but a heavy duty one would be too expensive for me. This powermatic seams to be a good compromise. I have to choose between this and a 600mm wide dedicated from Axminster. That one is stronger but I would be limited to 600mm. This one is not so heavy but at least is possible to sand bigger items. What would you choose between this two?

    • @SeanEvelegh
      @SeanEvelegh  4 года назад

      @@adrianluica6960 hey man, axminster brought out a duel drum sander which is slightly less than the powermatic one. If that was out when i was buying mine, I probably would have went for the axminster one. a double sided drum sander is more rigid and stable. I've never used the open end powermatic feature.

  • @adrianluica6960

    When can we see how this thing work? Not to many videos about that. Eventualy if yiu can sand somethng wider then 22 inch would be great.

    Powermatic claim the motor can't be converted to 220V. How does it work in the UK--did they swap the motor, did you do some sort of rewiring, or does that plug adaptor some how magically drop a power leg or somesuch to convert to 110?

    Hi Sean, i hope you can help me because i am really frustrated with an issue in the machine. I have this sander less than a year, it does a great job but... the conveyor belt is drifting slowly to the right (where the control panel is). I have made made all the suggested adjustments Powermatic says but no luck. I put more tension to the right screw to stop the drifting but still the belt wants to move to the right grabbing at last on the ceramic magnetic guide and wears it out. I put more tension on the left screw to try but same effect. I am not able to put the belt in the middle. Can you please tell me if yours stays put? Have send several e-mails to Powermatic and they say if i cannot fix it my self, to send them the table with the belt for examination and potential repair! Told then i cannot do that as i live in Greece and shipping will take very long plus i am sure it will be damaged by the transportation plus the shipping cost. I paid for the machine 3.000€!! and i have this issue? The problem was from week 1, machine is brand new, less than 10 hours of use. I am very disappointed. Have seen from others that the conveyor is closer to the right than to the left. I can see the witness marks from the ceramic guide on the black belt. Is this normal? Please help if you can. Thanks in advance.

    • @SeanEvelegh
      @SeanEvelegh  3 года назад

      Hi Polis, That’s weird, I’ve never had that issue. So unfortunately I can’t really help. All I can suggest is to keep adjusting the rollers and make sure the belt is on the right way. Maybe you can ask some woodwork groups on Facebook and some forums. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.

    • @polakis1975
      @polakis1975 3 года назад

      @@SeanEvelegh so yours is perfectly in the center of the rollers? Equal space left and right into the ceramic guides underneath the table without touching (the edges of belt) the inside ends of the guides? Because on your video i can see that you have white marks on the right side meaning that it scratches the right guide

    Ahh, another person consumed by the idea that powermatic is a US made machine... NOPE... Powermatic have stopped manufacturing their machines in the USA, some two years or more ago now, and guess what...just like Axminster tools, their machines are manufactured in CHINA... I suggest you look at the manual for the machine, under the heading of ‘Certificate of Conformity’....this used to have a statement about the machines conformity with EU standards, which is why everyone ignored that bit after a while, and exactly why the EU changed the rules so the Country of Origin, could be included in this section, and is nowhere shown on any part of the machine (e.g. like the old Made in England stamp)... So please, don’t assume that just because it’s a USA brand, it’s not made in China....NOW GO LOOK AT THE MACHINES MANUAL, AND THE CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY...I bet it gives some weird address on an industrial site in China...!!!
