yay warthyner!
Sonic Dreams is not a part of a cult. I was intrigued enough to look into it about half a year back. It was made by some people from Arcane Kids (some kind of video game development group of nerds, idk) and someone else. They developed it over a series of months with the intent of creating a peice of art that depicts the weirdness and degeneracies of the sonic fanbase, taking inspiration from past unfinished games they made as well as unreleased fan concepts from the late 2000s to early 2010s. It is even said by the creators that the eggman origin part of the game is meant to represent a graveyard of long forgotten sonic oc's.
What's the social security number about?
@@TheRealSuperKirby what?
@@stolenalt8:01
@@TheRealSuperKirbyoh, probably a stupid joke or a reference to the hacker note. I'm just skeptical about this oddheader guy these days because he's kind of a clickbaiter now.
@stolenalt I thought he was bullshitting too until the social security number showed up. Like ascension is a very common trope, it does not tie to a specific cult. But most likely the social security number is a part of an ARG not an actual cult
18:25 One of _my_ favourite things about warthunder is the fact that real military specifications get leaked on the forum.
Multiple times in fact!
Its at the point now where Gaijin makes jokes about it on the official War Thunder youtube channel. Ya gotta love it
I like to think of it as the honorable mention of the list.
Cool.

Hakuga using the Manhunt 2 eye as a jumpscare is really fucking funny.
I would have preferred to get jumpscared by the GTA V girls boobs but to each his own.
i thought i was the only one that catched that one lol
I noticed that too, it's kind of like when you hear a sound effect you recognize from a sound resource site
No wonder it looks so familiar
Yeah, that is hilarious. It's funny how ALL of these are obviously just ARG experiences, but people act like some universal reality breaking truth will be revealed to us in a videogame.
I guess you can call each of these games a “cult classic”.
badum-tschhh!
bruuuuhhhhhhh..... 😂
More like "occult classic"
That Ghost Recon entry is definitely just some programmer messing around but it's completely hilarious.
Some entries here are meant to be comical after all

Note on the Japanese cult.
"hakuga" in this context likely means "vast knowledge" or "erudition", with the Japanese word for polymath (someone who knows many things) being "hakauga-sha" similar to what Aum claimed to be.
The pronunciation, but not the kanji, also has relation to other words and phrases such as "persecution", "blank eyes", and "to gain value". Probably not as related, but the similar ominousness to the first meaning was worth mentioning.
Edit: added kanji for context
博雅 (hakuga) - vast or extensive knowledge
迫害 (hakugai) - persecution
博学者 (hakugaku-sha) - polymath or a know-it-all
白眼 (hakugan) - blank eyes, a variant spelling and reading of 白目 (shirome)
箔が付く (haku ga tsuku) - to gain value
Hakuga with no Kanji indication does not mean anything. And your spellings are all wrong. Vast Knowledge = 博学(Hakugaku) 博学者=Hakugakusha
It can be 白画(plain sketch) 白蛾(white moth) 箔画(some kind of japanese painting technique) and many more cuz you can use Ateji.
@@graphemelucid8407 you're right about my lack of kanji, but not my spellings

@@safebox36 You're pulling a bunch of similar sounding words from dictionary, so what?
Ask 100 Japanese ppl what does 博雅 (hakuga) means, they'd be confused.
It's an archaic word nobody uses, the arthur of this horror game probably just thought it would be cool naming it this meaningless way, that's all.
I live in Japan, 9 years now.
@@graphemelucid8407 and I'm N2 certified, I do manga and game translations for extra income
the point of my comment was at least some of the words made sense in the context of a game based on a cult; the use of obscure words or those with double meanings
and in the context of games and manga especially, the use of word play is more prominent due to the language's homophonic nature
@@safebox36 This kind of indie horror game I see only mashup of Japanese culture here and there but never a cultured piece.
Not enough sense for me to respect its intention.
English is not my first language, so I apologize if I was rude. I just cannot get myself humble in English somehow. I'm N1 perfect score but this is like middle-school level for Japanese natives, keep learning I'm still learning.
The Cabbage Cult reminds me of the early VR Chat days, you just put a bunch of people together and they start to develop their own system and language, an interesting showcase of the human nature

What?
ugandan knuckles mentioned
@@ericbazingaI'm talking about people united for a common goal and what would seem like cult-like behavior is just people socializing, no one really ordered them but these people gathered, made community and even created a deity, and yes, it was the same with the ugandan knuckles thing, just people following what you could call a "social instinct"
That’s called autistic cringe.
I was part of the cabbage cult on runescape a long time ago, on April fools Jagex likes to do events in that cabbage field and as someone already said, Brasscia is an actual god within the games lore though you never see it do anything and examining it usually just gives a joke about it just being a giant cabbage.
Brassica refers to the plants genus
16:12 **MASSIVE LORE DUMP ON THIS!** There's WAY more to this story that isn't in the video.
I won't refer to him by name, but xxxxxxx was a well known name in two small fandoms; the yume nikki Fandom and the UTAUloid community, as a Teto Kasane focused producer. If I remember correctly, the story goes that he couldn't handle all the fame or infamy that came from his various aliases, and started tweeting about it. While tweeting very concerning messages about what he might do to himself, he also attempted to scrub every sign of himself from the internet. No one was to type out or even utter his name - he himself excized every reference to it that he could - and he deleted as much of his work as possible, save for 4 songs, all with eerie themes.
As a musician in the Japanese Vocal Synth music space, XXXXXXX's style is very distinct; it's a lot of layered vocals with vibes similar to a duet or round. His work inspired a lot of musicians, including xo0ox; they take up his absent name (O is the sort of default null Character in Japanese), and write music in his style. The video with the blue haired girl is such a song, telling the story of a Japanese creepypasta called Kisaragi Station. xo0ox's song got the Plastic Love treatment, so suddenly thousands of English speakers were being recommended this song without the context of where it came from. **One of those people was the one who put in the English subtitles, and "Welcome to the Cult" was put in as a fun little nod** to everyone getting super into "nameless" creator music.
I like how you’re referring to them with the XXXXXXX as well. He doesn’t even like his name being mentioned
@@ma.2089 I mean I usually use #### to match the JP kanji count but I wasn't sure if it'd be clear if I did that
yea, this is a huge phenomenon in vosynth community that even goes into producers being inspired by xx inspired producers (i. e. subete anata no sei desu copycats), so not at all a cult except for jokes made by eng-speaking only folks about the untitled videos, but it's really interesting! the JP tag on nico nico douga is xx兄貴リスペクト i believe

Ok but that intro where you knock the creepy guy in the hood with the refrigerator door is so good 😂

“An ‘Odd Head’ of Cabbage cultist”
I'd like to think the leader of the Cabbage Cult went on to voice the enigmatic Cabbage Guy in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Concerning 17:46 and x0o0x_, there used to be a way that a user can submit subtitles for someone else’s video. So, the “Welcome to the Cult” message could just be something the subtitle maker snuck-in.
For the song itself, AkiDearest did a video on it which includes explaining some things the video references. Her video is called “This Video Has No Title.”
I remember when you could add subtitles. Lol.
I remember that, but I think that when YT removed it, they also wiped a lot of subtitle settings/modifications people made on videos from other people
The first one is a gene cypher. The number, colors, and letters are all in reference to human DNA. the colors look like a reference to colors commonly used in text books when referring to the "GATTACA" sequence.

Hearing that last parts kinda sad. The producer’s whole thing was not wanting their name to be remembered. Heck, they flat out request to not credit them if you cover their songs! Nah... looks too tame compared for what actually goes on in their heads.
Oh wow, LCDDem. I actually played that a few months prior to its sudden disappearance.
Still no concrete evidence on why it was removed, though its ending was assumed to have something to do with it. Made people assume the game was a confession or something. Might have it on my laptop still actually...
Probably the least 'concrete' relation to a cult, but had its own pulling power by how swiftly and effectively it was put away when the author wanted it to be.
LCDEM was created by a famous former vocaloid song producer who deleted a lot of his works. He is/was severely depressed and blamed his audience for said depression since his work got super popular and spread everywhere. There’s a documentary online about him. He actually produced work a little more recently but actually uploaded it without a title on RUclips, keeping him as anonymous as possible. If you’ve seen a RUclips thumbnail with a girl with a ribbon and the background was very blue, that’s his song.
It isn’t a confession, rather it’s just an extremely depressed individual who keeps creating good work and deleting it cus he hates the attention he gets for it.
@@ma.2089 hey was this guy named Spirit-P or N∆UTILUS at one point by any chance? There's a lost Hatsune Miku song titled Starset that has been long since deleted or privated since the 2015 Miku Expo song contest. I've been digging into it for some time

Uhhh... sure, why not
as a person who's been kinda heavily invested with Koronba's work for years now, there's some things i wanted to elaborate on with their segment
1. the “Welcome to the cult” at the end of x0o0x_'s song is likely a joke; sorry to dissapoint. its a running joke among fans that we were all chosen to find their videos and that we shouldnt share them with anyone, so as to not soil the process. there's also a joke among japanese fans about how many english speakers have found their videos.
2. the reason Koronba removed LCD DRM, as well as many of their songs, is because they never wanted to be famous. they hated when their songs would reach top on NND, and would have emotional outbursts of anger towards their fans. its likely they also removed LCD DRM for its popularity.
as a side none, one of the songs Odd shows off is actually one of Koronba's songs ( 17:37 ) ! “.”, commonly called Kurage. his other songs are Lamprey Hole, The Bluefin Tuna Comes Flying, and (I believe it's called, correct me if I'm wrong) A Salmon in the Soil.
I understand being an artist and not wanting to be famous. But I don't get the emotional outbursts of anger towards fans. Was there more to it? Like fans demanding stuff from Koronba, and he'd be like "bro, chill; I didn't ask for any of this"?
@@luckyducky7819 they struggled with mental illness if i recall. they were absolutely huge back in the day and got popular very fast i think so the general consensus is that it was extremely stressful and they lashed out as a result.
(i think people need to genuinely drop it all and just leave them alone tbh, talk around them is still insanely invasive.)
@@luckyducky7819 Creator harassment can a hell of a thing. The Living Tomestone was another artist who was hounded constantly after their FNAF songs took off which is why their FNAF 4 song has a double meaning where it's an attack on the portion of their fans who would constantly hassle them to make new FNAF songs or get heavy aggro when they weren't fast enough.
Some fans don't respect creators when they want space or a life outside their content and it's worse when said fans are vocal and steadfast in their cause.
@@luckyducky7819 Agreed. You can't get mad at people for watching your stuff and knowing you exist. I can understand hating people who are genuinely invasive but you can't hate people for literally knowing about your stuff.
@@deerbonenoshow Yeah, perhaps we should stop talking about Koronba. However, I would like to mention that the action of creating art and then becoming angry when people like that art seems to be opposing each other. That's like lifting weights and getting angry that you're becoming buff: you're taking actions that directly make your life harder.
Wherever the creator is, I hope they're doing way better nowadays.
2:01 Honestly, this game looks like a fever nightmare. With bizarre imagery and a reference to an infamous Japanese cult
x0o0x mentioned! I very much doubt that they are Koronba because they strictly make music (pretty good music if you ask me) and the "welcome to the cult" thing might just be a joke because you managed to find the song even though the channel and video have no name. Howdy, resident runescape lore goblin here. Brassica Prime actually dates back even further in runescape history, originally appearing as an April fool's joke in 2008. (I might have the year wrong but it was around there.) Today he is considered one of the many deities of gielinor, and his true power levels are unknown. When the gods were banished from gielinor by Guthix, Brassica Prime was the only one to defy his edicts and remain. It's not known why, but my theory is that Brassica Prime is simply stronger than the other gods, stronger than Guthix. Not even the firey breath of a dragonkin can damage him, for a roasted cabbage is a delicious cabbage. Praise be to the cruciferous one.
As wierd as hakuga is. It actually looks like its really well put together. Like outside of all the crazy stuff happening, it's got a pretty pleasing aesthetic and it seems there's a fair amount of polish as well. Just not really what I expected from this list.

I think I might know what happened with the Koronba situation, because something similar happened with an artist that I used to follow. While trying to find what happened with that dude, since they didn't say anything as to what happened and why they purged their gallery, I found a post of someone saying something along the lines: "Japanese artists will some times purge their online personas because they feel like it could destroy their chances of scoring a job in their preferred field, so they get rid of the offending material (usually NSFW) or the online persona all together so it can't be connected back to them."
I don't know how true this is, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I'm actually subscribed to x0o0x_ and they make music videos based on Japanese urban legends, like the one shown in the video being about kisaragi station and some more famous ones like NNN special broadcast and the red room.
Can you tell me about the three legends you said at the end?
@@Monorakun
Kisaragi station is a legend of a haunted train station that doesn't appear amywhere in the map, the creators of the channel mentioned above created a entire manga series based on their own song and that urban legend
The NNN broadcast is s rumor of a midnight broadcast that lists a name of several people who will die in the future
I forgot whats red room about but it involves a cursed website or smthing
@@Monorakun 1. Kisaragi station- This one actually happened on the Japanese online chat forum 2channel where a girl, named Hasumi, talks about being late for the last train leading home but then another train appears which shocks and confuses her because the train that just left is supposed to be the last one but she goes in anyways but when she notices that it's going in directions she doesn't recognize, through tunnels that aren't on her line and then she's finally dropped of at Kisaragi station she doesn't recognize the name neither do the users on the forum the users try to give her advice like to follow the train tracks to find a way back but she keeps mentioning hearing a loud banging noise akin to a drum and fears that it might be a train she also mentions that she's slowly loosing power on her device she then meets a man who offers to drive her to the nearest station later she starts to notice the car moving further and further to the mountains and the driver is muttering something she doesn't understand and that's the last thing she posted. an interesting thing is that this isn't just a story this is an actual forum post on 2chan and there's much more details than the ones I mentioned like how the people in the forum started questioning Hasumi on whether or not this was really happening and how Kisaragi station was fake.
@@Monorakun 2. NNN special broadcast- It's pretty simple somebody was watching the news late at night and once it ends instead of the usual end of broadcast screen it's the NNN special broadcast a list of names with numbers next to them are scrolling up with a message after they finish scrolling saying these are tomorrow's victims. not much to say pretty straight forward but there is a youtube video that is a visual recreation of what the broadcast looked like according to the story that ends with a jumpscare of what would later be used as the image of Jeff the killer
@@Monorakun 3. The Red room- another simple one, A pop up window would appear with text saying "Do you like" with a voice repeating the same thing no matter how many times you close it it just keeps showing up the window and the voice, at some point, the message completes itself to say "Do you like the Red room?" the voice as usual repeating the same thing the door will suddenly be unopenable and people will be compelled to coat the room in red with their own blood the main story had someone use a box cutter. Not much to say but the red room story involving a box cutter was based on a real murder one of the most famous murders as it was done by an 11year old here's the story: The sasebo slashing, also known as the Nevada-tan murder, was the murder of a 12-year-old Japanese schoolgirl, Satomi Mitarai (御手洗 怜美, Mitarai Satomi), by an 11-year-old female classmate referred to as "Girl A" (Girl A being a common pseudonym used for juvenile girls involved in criminal cases in Japan). The murder occurred on June 1, 2004, at an elementary school in the city of Sasebo in Nagasaki Prefecture. The murderer slit Mitarai's throat and arms with a box cutter.
Sources say the red room link was bookmarked in the killer computer hence the legend
the ghost recon thing was obviously put there to try and see if the testers would find it. was just a test to see how good they were testing the game. its a long boring text field so it probably just got forgotten about.
bunch of shit in this video is clearly just easter eggs for jokes
I remembered playing Sonic Dreams Collection, it was one of the most strangest things I have ever played. I always thought Eggman Origin was just some weird idea someone thought.
That's because it pretty much was... they just took the wack ideas of a cult and made it even more nonsensical
my biggest take away from this video is: Holy shit is that what runescape looks like now?? Last time I played it still looked like playdough
from what i can tell is that there are two different runescapes. The modern "Runescape" ,and the playdoh looking "Runescape Classic". Both have their own active communities.
I still remember that jingle: "PLAY DOH DOH DOH PLAY DOH DOH DOH"
War Thunder definitely has connection to cult 100%
The chart from the Talking Tom files is from Poznik, some niche store selling “miracle cure” type of stuff. The diagram appears to be their symbol for energy. Odd in general, but especially odd to see in an unrelated children’s app.
Why do you think it was included? Was it an example of compilers including data from the Devs web browser? I know it’s happened before, there was some Nintendo game where a bunch of of open tabs and history were included as text data
It's kinda funny to see x0o0x mentioned in a video like this, as I'm a big fan of their music.
The title thing is actually because of a RUclips glitch which causes certain titles to display as nothing. Also all their music is based off modern Japanese myths.
I don't know they're Koronba or not, but either way, I recommend checking out their music!
Also, the cult thing is because used to be difficult to find their music. You pretty much had to have it come across your feed, and if you liked it then you subscribe. Kinda made it feel like you were part of an inside group.
10 billion downloads for that game? That's over one and a half times the population of the entire planet. What a success!
But FAR more devices!
uh, there are over 8 billion people on the planet right now friend.
Oddheader is the kind of guy who still thinks an apple tree will grow in his belly if he eats the seeds
"Though no talking cat takes over the world without controversy." That is a BEAUTIFUL brand new sentence! xD
Hi there, just wanted to thank oddheader for featuring my video XDDD. I remember leaving a comment about the game Hakuga and the creator responding to the comment but unfortunately, it has been removed. The game did mention that it was only completed to an extent of 3% which is quite interesting as to what else is in store in the game and whether the creator is working on the remaining 97%.
The floating gas mask on the lower left corner of that one video cracked me up. I knew then it was definitely ironic.
14:47 sounds a lot like modern Ubisoft
Thank you, I am now aware of the occult connections to warthunder
17:39 Correction, it’s most commonly UTAU and other adjacent programs rather than VOCALOID, let alone V6
In the early days of Runescape 'Cabbage' was used as a replacement word for the offensive language filter, likely because the Gower brothers didn't enjoy the taste. It has been changed since then, but has spawned many cabbage related jokes, memes and other stories within the world of Gielinor. And as a few people have mentioned Brassica Prime has appeared as a cabbage among the other gods.
I remember when I was younger, my uncle left his computer in our basement while he was in the military. He had this cd with a bunch of game demos. I would go down there any play every night and try different demos. I picked one not knowing what it was. It seemed like a point and click which I loved. After about 5 minutes, I turned around in the game and there was an alien standing there out of nowhere watching me. I ran upstairs and didn’t go back down for weeks. I could never remember the game for years. It was Drowned God. I was right to be freaked out apparently. I would love to play it now
Drowned god sounds like Myst on acid and I'm into it
17:29 GENUINLY kinda scary, i have several of their song in my playlist. i never knew they where a mysterious person, just thought the songs sounded really nice.
To me, Sonic Dreams Collection is still one of the weirdest games I’ve ever seen and heard, there’s few games I know of that even tops that, such as the AUM cult parody game
Average day on the Sonic fandom - a Sonic fan.
2:18 YOOOOO THATS MEEE THANKS ODDHEADER IM A BIG FAN!!!!!
2:56 the eye that flashes on the screen Is literally the box art for Manhunt 2 lmao.
I always knew the sonic dreams collection had to do with a cult. It was too weird for something weird not to happen
Around the same time that the Easter egg in Kanye Quest was revealed to be fake, Ascensionism itself was also revealed to be fake by it's creator
ALL HAIL *THE DROWNED GOD.*
@Oddheader Thanks for the epileptic warning for Hakuga. I appreciate that you warn your viewers. Keep up the good work.
Shoko Asahara and Aum Shinrikyo are also referenced in Mother 3 with the Happyism cult. The Happyism cult members all wear blue, which is a reference to Asahara's blue robes.
Isn't that on Mother 2?
@@felixorozco4055 Yes, you're right. I got mixed up there. Thanks for correcting me. :)
The ghost recon one is the proof that not even the director read that
Damn, number 3 should've been number 1, it's the most intriguing for sure!
Tbh the ubisoft one just feels like someone doing a very elaborate pisstake just to see if they could get away with it
The abusive message in ghost recon was probably someone trying to prove to the devs thats players dont read these boring interview and that the idea is bad.
Either that or was put there to say someone did not do their job.
Or someone at the studio headquarters was having a laugh.
The cabbage cult is the best example of deranged but harmless human silliness, I love it
And, unlike the cabbage cult, the Drowned God one is abhorrent. Something not many people understand is that the Ancient Aliens theory and all of its gross offshoots are deeply rooted in racism and white supremacism. Conspiracy theories are called that for a reason, they're godawful and extremely harmful. No, the pyramids of Giza and Saqqara, the Ziggurats of Mesopotamia and Mesoamerican pyramids were not built by aliens, they just weren't built by white people. They *were* built by advanced ancient civilisations - Egyptians, Mesopotamian peoples and Native Americans. Really not difficult. Gonna go ahead to Rome and tell people that the Colosseum was actually built by aliens and white people always needed help.
This surficially might look like "not a big deal, get over it", but trust me, it's a very very huge deal that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of millions across the centuries.
I have utmost resentment for the Ancient Aliens theory and what it stands for.
@@manslaughter3180take your meds, you’re the type of guy to say cabbage has roots in white supremacy lmao
AFAIK Hakuga has been archived on the Internet Archive, although I am unsure how recent that version is.
There was also a thread on reddit with a download link after it was taken down, so there are still copies out there.
Does anyone know of any active downloads for Hakuga and LCDDem?
I only found the reddit post, 5 videos and they waybackmachine game webpage link for hakuga but however the download link doesn't work. Looks like people might actively search it for a day.
hakuga seems to be lost media but lcddem is easily accessible via google search
LCCDEM can be found on the Yume Nikki fan game wiki. It’s not hard to find since a lot of ppl catalogued it.
EVERYONE HAKUGA IS ON INTERNET ARCHIVE, THERE'S A COMMENT THAT JUST LINKED IT ON THAT REDDIT POST SHOWN IN ODDHEADER'S VIDEO
I'm like 99% sure hakuga is an ARG.
15:17 Seems like a ubisoft thing.
thank you for exposing me to hakuga, it might be the craziest thing ive ever seen on the internet, and there many things to compare to that
I'm so mad tho the guy didn't press R 😂
@@bratprica6383 if i was him i wouldnt have pressed r either
@@kwdq Fair enough lol
I swear to God if you just press R and it's a jumpscare😂💀
What does Pressing R do?
For a part 2 checkout the GTA 5 epsilon cult it's based on a real life cult called Unarius and it goes really deep! I'll link you the video on twitter
While you're at it you should also tell him about the hidden UFO in rdr2!
bro literally everyone on earth already knows about this lol
Isn't Epsilon a thinly veiled Scientology cult?
@@feIon...so?
@@420sakura1 theres where alot of people get it wrong. The references to Uranus (Unarius cult) The even own the space car thats is in GTA 5, they also all wear blue, the have the childeren of the stars in GTA its called childeren of the mountain. Even the stealing of the money in the mission is based of a real life event that happend. I did hours of research back in the day lol
It's always a good day when Oddheader uploads
9:02 - So, the cabbage vendor from Avatar was secretly a high priest or something?
11:13 The high number of stabbings, and murder of all of the pets suggest a crime of passion, or psychotic break, rather than a random murder. Harry's wife, Mandy, had MS and was apparently in a very debilitated condition, being unable to walk or talk. But I don't think she would have chose to die that way.
The English Sunday Times article is the one that introduced the "Romeo and Juliet" angle. It was just poor reporting, a random rumor. If you want to read a better researched article look up the Scottish Shetland Times piece.
As you said, Harry had a history of mental illness, which explains his own injuries. Social workers reported that he punched a hole in the wall during one of their visits.
I don't know what you mean about Police sealing the case as the pathologist report was shared in the news.
I really feel for Mandy, it must have been a terrifying way to die.
0:45 That's my submission! Also, when I put the image in Google Lens, it popped up with a card sold by Poznik which is apparently a "informed card for better well-being and energy". Not sure what Talking Tom has to do with improving your well-being.
This episode might be the scariest oddheader video
That COD thing is something game devs have done since the beginning, hiding dark messages about their working conditions either into the code or into the games themselves. The fact that it's just now coming to attention so many years after the game came out is a testament to how few people cared about the issue at the time
Hear that? No one cares.
Something about HBomberguy’s new video reminded me of this channel. Wonder what it could be
Ghost recon seems like a meme.
Sonic is just reference to ascension, but it's not always means there is a cult behind it etc. Ascension is in many religions or believes etc.
