Also in the mega collection for sonic, the scene with the trolley was probably for sonic adventure. The SEGA team had to head to San Francisco to get reference for the sonic adventure games.

13:20 the reason Devs filled up discs back in the day was so that the eye didn't have to travel far to read the data, so they'd fill the disc up with trash so the "inner ring" is the the game files and the console can read and load in data quicker, speeding up load times and improving asset streaming
To add to that, the San Fransisco footage is obvious if you are familiar with SEGA and Sonic Team’s history, as they had an office there until about the mid 00’s iirc, it’s what inspired Sonic Adventure 2’s City Escape level.
It's the outer side of the disc which has the important game files and it's because the outside of the disc is moving past the lens faster than the inside of the disc, so the data can be read faster.

The text at the end of the Psychonauts one makes it pretty clear what that was for. It's an animatic of a scene which was not only cut, but likely was made as a joke for the other creatives on the game's team. The ending text saying it's a "great idea for the game's opening" being an acknowledgement of how this very likely would not be a good idea and shouldn't be seriously considered.
It is my favorite type of joke and I love low grade storyboards that are so shit posty in in nature. Much like Phineas and Ferb's "MOM, HOLY FUCK"

Kind of, it's was a branch of Coffee Stain but not Coffee Stain Studios. Studios just makes Satisfactory, Coffee Stain publishing is involved with valheim, deep rock Galactic etc. I'm pretty sure A Story About My Uncle is part of the Coffee Stain North branch

LIDAR is a form of topography measurement that stands for "light detection and ranging". It is probably just how the Sky Temple was found. Use those coordinates and see where they go with LIDAR.
The coordinates point to somewhere in China.
LIDAR does not represent colour, like shown by the image of tiger attacking soldier.
When the first map with markers appear, markers are all with animal images. The second time, after the tiger attack, they have changed into skull with blood being splattered over the map.
This is a teaser of a some next Ubisoft game. Designed to keep the interest up while telling as little as possible. Nothing in the trailer is situated in Far Cry 6.

@@alaric_ They don't point to China, they point to either Las Vegas or somewhere in the Atlantic. China would need it to be a N/E coordinate but it's N/W.
Li-Dar doesn't deal with coordinates. It's an imaging system like Radar.

The Sonic one is easily explained. Developers will often use random videos in their disc layout to pad them. They are placed at the beginning of the disc so the data that they want/need to be read fast are on the outside of the disc where the laser doesn't have to move as much and the disc can spin faster. They were probably the closest files on hand that were the right size.

3:40 So, something I thought of straight away when you said LIDAR_05 is a LIDAR system which essentially "draws" lasers on surfaces to create a non-visible version of that surface. There's a couple games about it and a Garry's Mod addon that popularized the idea not too long ago. Perhaps the LIDAR in the corner is referring to this system?

Yeah. Unless LIDAR is featured in-game somewhere, my assumption is that "LIDAR_05" is the ID for the device that captured the armored tiger image, simple flavortext on its own. Now, if there were references to, say, a LIDAR_05, _04, _02, and _01 but no _03...
The "floating castle" could be a reference to Pegan-min's wierd purgatory game mode which is made up of Japanese-style architecture floating in the sky
For Vice City, "moviedemo" likely refers to it being a demo of a "movie file" - the replay itself. This would have been made by a programmer or possibly a designer in order to test/demo the system for making cutscenes.

I just started watching his videos again after a few years and I find this video being just released
I opened the _Far Cry 6_ Easter egg video in a text editor to examine its metadata, which includes the filenames of various audio/video assets and Adobe Premiere project files.
There are numerous references to "Talisker" - including multiple mentions of "Talisker teaser trailer". _Project Talisker_ was the codename of an in-development _Far Cry_ sequel, subsequently split into the single-player _Project Blackbird_ and multiplayer _Project Maverick._ Mystery solved, I think.
That sounds interesting

While the QR codes are not subtly hidden at all, I do really like the idea of turning a secret or mystery from a video game into a cross-media scavenger hunt, or an ARG if you will.
I would imagine that's what it is! Probably a very tricky one, since ARG easter eggs in games have only become more and more complex, and I doubt Ubisoft would wanna make an easter egg too easy to find, having so many players.
@@cupriferouscatalyst3708 Honestly... given that it's probably a single texture file getting re-used incessantly, it's not that hard to imagine. they just didn't pay attention to how many times the easter-egg was getting used.
At least until the internet spends hundreds of hours to decode something that turns out to be an ad for the next release in a bland series.

Saints Row 4 had a QR code on the back of a house, but I haven't scanned the code to find out what it's about and I can't seem to find anything about it on forums

The Goat Simulator one might be a reference a similar secret in A Story About My Uncle - If I recall correctly, a youtube link can be found in the beginning section of that game and it leads to the exact same video of the "posessed skeleton" toy.
The MGS2 one is very interesting for me, because the crash scene is such a massive event in the story, yet it was completely skipped over.
In the document of Metal Gear Solid 2 (which includes a practically final script), the scene is described in great detail spelling out a route and specifically mentioning notable landmarks Arsenal Gear hits. Also, in the final game, I don’t think you ever get a good shot of Arsenal Gear.
It’s just like, we’re on top of Arsenal Gear in the water. Oh now we’re in front of Federal Hall.
Yup. That explains the sudden cut to Raiden and Solidus suddenly falling from the sky.
I literally had no idea how I got there when I played it the first time. For a game so heavy on story it ironically couldn't manage to clearly convey the most climactic moment of its own story.
They cut out that crash scene to avoid controversy from the still recent 911 events. I think they made a good choice

The Statue of Liberty part seems like a nod to the Mandela Effect. MANY people remember the statue being on Ellis Island and even have pictures of it.

Well, considering none of the pictures show you a map or geolocation of where the picture was taken, you just have to go off of what it LOOKS like. And it LOOKS like it's taken on Ellis Island in many photos. And people REMEMBER it being on Ellis Island.

The posessed skeleton video could be an old inside joke from the twitch streamer vargskelethor. Both the devs and streamer are Swedish and Joel used to show that video on his stream as a joke back in the day.
I love how in the intro he sees the Crash Bandicoot and just goes "Ima head out".
Ready Set Mental is just a simulation of what VR is like for those who get sick whenever they see any 3D imagery.

Lidar stands for light detection and ranging.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is an incredible game honestly, I may have some bias in saying that since of all the MGS games 2 and 3 were the ones I played the most but I swear I dive into that game I take something away from it. Not just it's social commentary either, Snakes speech at the end about building the future has always stuck with me and yeah Raiden's inclusion IMO is so understated.
Thinking that the commentary in games like metal gear is about fictional politics is all wrong... It's all happening now. Secret governments, tech and ai replacing people with almost unbelievable similarities, the government leaders backing the terrorists... It's all there. And not just USA.

I've actually seen that skeleton video before. It's hilarious. Crazy to see it pop up in one of these easter eggs. I bet the devs were a fan of it too. Also check out the singing fish malfunction.

I think the GTA Vice City Demo video was originally simply a cut demo cutscene, like how in certain games if you idle on the main screen long enough it automatically plays a cutscene (usually a pre-rendered trailer) showing off the gameplay. I don't know if the final game even has a 'demo' cutscene, but my guess is it may have been a placeholder or they experimented with an in-engine demo video only to scrap it for a more traditional pre-rendered trailer video.

The deleted scenes from the arsenal gear crash really gave me the creeps
3:30 "Lidar" is pronounced Lie-Dar and it stands for Light Detection and Ranging, but an easy way to remember is Light+Radar, as it's essentially a giant radar that uses lasers. But its that technology that they've been putting on the bottom of planes to scan what's under the trees in the Amazon, which is how they are finding so many ruins.
Hence the sky temple...? I don't know...
The GTA scene actually seems the most to me like it might have been a Display/Demo mode for the game for if the player left the game idling on the menu. It shows off a bunch of different game mechanics in a very flashy way and would explain the movie label on the files.
I was thinking maybe they used it to record promotional materials - because it really feels like I’ve seen it before.

I remember this video very well and am almost 100% certain it played when you left the game idle on the title screen.

@@denis-florian_0.57 Oh it definitely played. I think the issue is more likely to be trigger state and/or differences in versions/editions (of which there are multiple). Also Mandela effect refers to things that "don't exist", this video outright said it was found.

In MGS2 there is also a cutscene right after the final fight. When fatally wounded Solidus stands on an edge of the Federal Hall,his mouth moves like he's speaking,but there is no voice. When he falls down,he appears to be in completely other place from where he fell. Its speculated that there was a final monologue of his,which was also cut due to the 9/11.

With the Far Cry 6 video at 2:48 I can hear "Greetings! Stop (something, maybe attacking) the animals!"

The carbonite Sully mustve been part of an easter egg or just a rare game over screen by the sheer hilarity that its a Star Wars reference in a Pixar game. A little sad that the shaven game over did not make it to the game cause thats absolutely hilarious and a great idea for a game over.

Kojima's thorough historical and political research, and ability to unintentionally predict the future by recognizing patterns throughout history and implementing those patterns into his storytelling when looking into the future, seems to be a curse for him. MGS2 likely traumatized him, in his recounting of 09-11-01, he details being frantically called out of his office at Konami into another room where he "watched the events of his game playing out in real life". That's why MGS3 takes place in an alternate *past* as opposed to a speculative *future.* He seems to be equally disturbed at Death Stranding's story and themes following the COVID-19 breakout in late 2019 and worldwide spread in 2020, as he stated on his Twitter or in an interview [I forget which]

Shot in the dark since I never played Farcry 6, but I feel that the whole sky temple thing is a hint that the next game might go back to the island from Farcry 3, or the land from Farcry 4.
Considering FC3 is over 10 years old at this point and with the recent trend of remaking pretty much everything maybe that could be a hint or something, who knows.
well, FC6 has some other weird easter eggs that make me wonder in a different direction. But I dont' remember the details exactly, and it's hard to speculate on how they intersect

Missed opportunity to really point out the fact that you said "odd".
I actually played Ready Steady Mental back in the day. It's exactly what you'd expect. A 10 second timer is displayed on screen, and you gain points by shaking your head violently and screaming. Simple as that.
A quick search shows that the apk is available for download online still, i wonder if oddheader even tried to look for it, i might download it and try it out
RSM was part of a conspiracy. A rogue group of Otolaryngologists made RSM to increase demand for neck surgery. Creating new patients for them to treat and bill...it was just greed.

I think the lost cutscene in gta vice city might have been a test to see if the Ingame cutscenes cameras could track moving wehicles since we see the cameras trying to keep up following Tommy's car.

This water texture looks really familiar. Does anyone else remember’Reboot’ a 90’s TV show about the inside of a computer? The “user” would play games that looked like a big purple cube with this purple, electric water like texture in them.
If the characters failed in the game the cube would leave a wake of destruction. Which was meant to represent the game taking up space on the hard drive. Not sure if SEGA are making a point with that or something hahaa!
In the Far Cry 6 secret video the term “LIDAR” is an abbreviation for “LIght Detection And Ranging”
which is defined on wikipedia as: “a method for determining ranges by targeting an object or a surface with a laser and measuring the time for the reflected light to return to the receiver.”
Coupled with the phrase Sky Temple and the visuals before the image of the armored pantherine it may mean that the map we saw earlier is a LIDAR mapping of the aforementioned Sky Temple.

I remember MGS2's release. The original story was to involve a terrorist attack on NYC. They changed it at the last minute after the real attack. I remember it was a big thing to hear they were changing the game.
