- In this video, we're reacting to the first episode of the highly-anticipated Wednesday series. This show, created by Tim Burton and starring Jenna Ortega and Catherine Zeta-Jones, has been making waves since its announcement. And let us tell you, we were NOT disappointed!
First time watching Wednesday's and this first episode was a blast!
If you're a fan of Tim Burton's work or if you're just looking for a new show Watch as we react to Wednesday's Episode 1 and give our honest opinions on everything from the cinematography to the music. And with the show's themes of gothic horror and dark comedy, we're glad to see Tim Burton's style prevalent everywhere.
Jenna Ortega's delivers an incredible performance which is no surprise if you've seen her previous acting gigs in "You" and "The Fallout", and Catherine Zeta-Jones' takes on the legendary role of Morticia Addams. And for those looking for new TV shows to watch, especially in the horror and comedy genres, "Wednesday" is a must-see.

Jenna Ortega trained herself not to blink while performing for this show. The whole performance is great, but that piece of trivia is fun to keep in mind while watching her on the screen!
Whoaaaa that's actually super impressive! Anyhony Hopkins had done the same for Silence of the Lambs so it's definitely a great acting choice! Will pay attention to that in the upcoming episodes!
@@OfficialMediaKnights Don't make the mistake of thinking she _never_ blinks,though...se does.Rarely,but she does.Mostly when she's caught off guard or upset,but doesn't wanna admit it out loud...like during her therapy session...I wanted to point out the moments but unfortunately you cut *all* of them out of the reaction!X-((( Such a shame!

I believe Gwendoline Christie said in an interview that this was the first time she was cast in a role that made her feel beautiful. I personally thing she's stunning! I met her once and she is the sweetest lady 😍🥰
17:28 yes, she learned to play the cello two months before they started shooting and also learned how to fence. Also Burton wanted Thing to be played by a real person. Victor Dorobantu, a magician, wore a full-coverage blue suit so that his body could be edited out and the set was adjusted to fit him. 😁

Jenna learned to play the cello and swordsmanship (as did the actress Bianca, who together made a dueling scene in a single shot) not to mention Enid's actress, who had hours of training to act like a werewolf ❤❤❤❤
That is truly impressive! Always a fan when an actor goes the extra mile and learns something for the part. They did amazing!
Such a great show! Jenna is a fantastic Wednesday. I was really impressed by how she really dove into the character and made it her own. She does alot of acting with her eyes and tiny tiny face movements. Pay attention and you'll notice she rarely ever blinks, and only does so when she's in an uncomfortable situation.
Jenna did take Celo lessons for the role. She wasbt playing but learned the techniques to convincing mimic the motions. She did say she wants to learn to play the celo though and is really looking forward to picking up lessons with Season 2.
I'm so happy y'all are watching this! This is just a fun and campy show. It's very enjoyable and I can't wait for season2. I look forward to watching this with y'all!

I knew i was going to like this show the moment i saw her dead unblinking stare as she realeses the piranhas. Also this show has some of the best comebacks and quicks snaps in a show honestly!

In an interview, cast members commented on more than 1 occasion that Tim Burton called Jenna "Dark", enough said. Also, not only did Jenna learn to play the cello, both actors learned to fence and while they were covered, according to the cast, both did the actual fencing. The steam powered Guillotine was never really built.
Niiiice! That fencing sequence was badass, it's so cool that the actors got to learn that skill to the best of their abilities! Respect!
And definitely agree with Burtin, Jenna Ortega has such a great dead eyed glare - her little unhinged smirks here and there truly make her an amazing fit for Wednesday!!
As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed your reactions. Jenna Ortega learned to play cello and fence for this role. Her prowess as a trained dancer helped with her action sequences so she is the perfect choice.
Many newbies to the Addams Family which may have seen the movies with Christina Ricci portraying Wednesday were not aware that the Addams Family started as a comic strip in the New Yorker magazine in the 1920’s which was adapted for tv in the 1960’s. Lisa Loring starred as Wednesday from 1964-1966, she was six years of age when began in that role; Ms. Ricci was 11. Ms. Ortega is 20 and therefore, portraying a teenaged Wednesday which we have not seen since Ms. Loring reprised her role at 18 for a tv movie which was not very good.
This likely accounts for the reason we have never seen Wednesday display her current ability. I am ecstatic you are reacting to this series. I loved this first season and so pleased it has been renewed for a season 2.
Wooow!!! That is so impressive. Jenna Ortega is such a great talent, I initially saw her in 'You' and was so impressed. She's again doing a fantastic job as Wednesday, who is a character I hold very dear!

She learned how to play the cello so she could have realistic hand movements, but she's not playing the music since it takes years to master.
Good for her that she learned! It does make sense, the Paint it Black cover had some veeery intricate moments, so we assumed that there was some movie magic going on!
Yes she trained for months o. The fencing and cello but she said she hoped to do the song justice because she's going thru the motions but it's a cello professional playing the song

Jenna and Christina did not discuss their roles during filming. Jenna did learn to play the chello, and to fence.
Fun fact, yes Jenna did learn to play Paint it Black on the Cello. While the show cuts up the play in ways that are not true to form, she did actually learn the entire song. Although there are videos online saying that it can't be done, others have shown that it can.

IMO, the powerful seer misread the future and told the son, who is now DEAD the wrong person to look out for. $5 says the GUY, in the other half of the photo, which the son did NOT rip out of the book, is the Cartoonish looking killer. Just a guess. Great Post.

The actress is good, and I enjoyed the show, but I really wish it would have been Wednesday in a "normal" school, and not a "supernatural" one with all the other vampires and werewolves. It waters down the wonderful weirdness that is the Addams.
The music on this show is fantastic. Danny Elfman through and through. There alot of hints of Sleepy Hollow.

I was watching Adams family movie last week and foudn out that Christina Ricci played Wednesday in that movie. Makes it for a great role cast.
I really never thought ANYONE could play Wednesday Addams better than Christina Ricci, and then they go and make this, and it's CLEAR Jenna was BORN for this role...😊

This was a pretty fun reboot. Everything worked for me except Gomez. I lightened up on that a little but not a lot. Turn's out he's sort of modeled after the comics Gomez or original in some form or other.
Ohh interesting! Thus far, Gomez seemed good for us but then again we did only watch 1 episode haha. We'll be sure to let you know if we feel the same way!

I love horror too! Have you guys tried any Asian horror. If not I suggest “Ju-On: The Grudge (2002)”, “Ringu (1998)” to name a couple. I highly suggest original Asian horror
We’re actually guilty here! We’ve both watched the Hollywood versions but I don’t think we ever watched the originals. Would love to give those a try!

She did learn to play the cello, although as a fellow cellist I can tell that it isn't actually her playing that. I'm quite sure the music we heard is only possible with editing. And just a minor nitpick, her posture when playing is horrendous.
Yeah there were certain parts they navigated around her through editing and other choices in shots/angles. As a pianist, I see that happen a lot where they cut away just when the actor cannot feasibly play anymore. Regardless it's impressive when actors choose to at least attempt to learn a skill in order to really do the character justice so we're happy regardless! -Denise
