I completely agree with you and thought this way for years and years but I do really like United Abominations and Endgame but especially after hearing their new album I'm content with this lineup they have now. Sad to see Ellefson dismissed from the band tho. Maybe in the future after everything settles he'll rejoin at some point. Fingers crossed!

He saw himself as a founding member of the band, and Mustaine as a brother. Mustaine only ever saw him as an employee.
I don’t know if that’s true . Dave didn’t have to ask him to come back the last time they were split. But Megadeth has always been Mustaine’s . From other interviews I’ve heard it sounds like there was some friction going on there even before the incident that got Ellison fired.
With the possible exception of Marty Friedman, Dave looked at everyone as an employee.

David is one of my biggest bass influences and one of the nicest guys that I've ever met. It absolutely eats at me that hes not in Megadeth...... again. His tone and style are a huge reason that I was drawn to Megadeth and became a bass player, myself.

For example saying Mustaine is a heavy drug user would be incorrect yes.. So someone's behaviour during that time isn't 'who they are' is it.. Its rather lazy on your part to not know the situation being discussed before commenting and defaulting to well I heard Mustaine is an asshole so he must be at fault..
Ellefson was messaging young female fans and having very inappropriate relationships with them.. That isn't wanted in the camp Mustaine doesn't want anything to do with that at all.. And creatively they haven't been on the same page since the mid 90s... The ship ran its course creative and their friendship isn't really one either because they aren't friends on that level.. Mustaine and Ellefson are different people today when they started.. Theyve drifted apart from one another personally in regards to interests and priorities.. Mustaine is all Megadeth.. Ellefson has been doing anything and everything whilst barely committing to Megadeth in a serious way.. But using Megadeth to launch off other things.. There are several reasons why this relationship broke down.. But Ellefson behaviour with young female fans was the thing that tipped it over the edge..
Since then Ellefson has thrown dirt in interviews suggesting it's all Mustaines fault he's out of the band today and it was hell in Megadeth and he had no creative input.. Then the next interview he's saying he'll take the call if Megadeth wants him back and that Mustaine is a creative genius.. He's all over the place.. Mustaine has not said anything except.. I don't wish to talk about it.. I only want to talk about the fun times.. I wish him well.. I don't wish to play with him again..
That's it.. Mustaine hasn't dug a hole for him and buried him alive.. He made a very studio decision in his life and its cost him his spot in a mainstream band at the top level.. You can't be have Webcam fap sessions with young female fans and be in Megadeth bro.. Seriously take a step back.. Thats simply not going to fly.. You have nobody to blame but yourself for it.. Dave didn't make you do it.. Dave can't make the world turn a blind eye to it.. The world knows what you did.. The band can not and should not have to endure that stain and damn to reputation for you... If Mustaine did this the band would be over.. It would be done.
Now I personally wish that Ellefson and Mustaine would personally make up and get on good terms.. From a healthy perspective for both of them.. But I don't think there is a desire or a big calling for Ellefson to return within the band or by fans.
People have accepted that his time with the band as a permanent member is over.. There's no going back.. Not on a full on level.. 1 off show or something down the road sure.. But not a full time gig.. Thats over.. It won't work anymore.
As for other members of the bands past.. There is only one other who has ever displayed unhappiness and that's Jeff Young.. He's unhappy that Mustaine basically told everyone his embrassing shit like how he was complaining about shampoos and diva shit.. He also let out of the bag that Jeff was doing drugs and has done them.. This is a big no no for Jeff because he likes to pretend he is straight edge.. When in fact he is not and he's done cocain plenty.. He really didn't like Dave bagging him in like that.. Not that Dave needed to.. One look at those photos and you can see they are all high as fuck at that time.. But Jeff insisting on lying about it and he's unhappy that Mustaine didn't lie for him..
Jeff's sort of decended into a hate pit ever since then.. Seeking to air out all his feeling and thoughts and putting a dig in on Mustaine each day.. Not because he didn't enjoy himself at the time but because Mustaine didn't lie about his drug use at the time and in fact said Australia dates at the time were canceled because of Jeff being strung out.. lol these comments btw are from like 20+ years ago...Jeff's stewed in rage on that for over 2 decades.. Mustaine couldn't give a damn.. He's never said anything bad about Jeff personally or his ability to play.. He wouldn't have hired him if he couldn't play.. He can.. I would honestly say that Jeff Young is a lot like Mustaine personality wise.. Except Mustaine has reason to be the way he is and was growing up.. Jeff doesn't.. He's trying now to capture some attention with Ellefson now Ellefson is not going to be able to be part of Megadeth again.. Good luck to them.. Hopefully they deliver some good music out of it.. We'll see.. There isn't anyone else with bad blood if you will.. Marty and Poland are both cool with Dave.. Daves no so cool with Poland due to him complaining about the size of the cut he gets from RIP sales.. Any of the guys after that.. Not a bad word said.. Grateful to have played in the band.. Learned a lot. Blah blah.. Thats how you exit a properly and professionally.. Nobody is saying Mustaine is perfect but none of us are.. But what's pushed around about him personally and stuff is all nonsense.. He's a chill guy.. Just don't be a dick and you won't get stung.. Its pretty simple.
Interestingly enough nobody else in the metal space is talk about at all really regarding interactions because they aren't interesting Mustaine is.. He's like Metal Jesus.. When he speaks metal gospel comes out. 🙌

I love Megadeth, especially the lineup with Ellefson and Drover and Broderick and always Mustaine, but this reaction from Mustaine even though Ellefson messed up, is very classic Dave Mustaine. Never has such a successful band had so many members over the years. That’s Mustaine for ya. Still like him.

My two cents, on how things should have gone down, I think Mustaine should have had JR sit out on this album and tour cycle just to let things blow over and bring him back on the next album once the dust has settled, JR is the only other person that can stake his claim as a founding member of Megadeth, and I he is the only true bassist of Megadeth in my opinion.
Orrrr... maybe he should've shown a little more loyalty than a lizard and found out what actually happened before screwing over the last friend he had.

Man, Mustaine really disappointed me with all this. If one of my brothers was a victim of revenge porn, I would stand by them and give the leakers the finger. From what I've read though, this wasn't really about that. Sounds like Mustaine was still salty about that lawsuit from the early 2000s. I don't know much about that, but I would've thought Mustaine could get past that by now. Maybe he's right to be pissed, don't know. Seeing brothers betray sucks though.
It wasn't just revenge porn though, Ellefson had a relationship with a girl other than his wife. I wouldn't defend revenge porn, but would you defend one of your brothers for having an extramarital affair?

I mean, Dave still carries a grudge against James and Lars for firing him from Metallica decades later…suing the man, that’s not going to just blow over easily either. Maybe Dave keeping grudges is for the best though, it’s given us some of the best music of all time as a result
Ellefson is such a nice guy, he still makes excuses for Mustaine, even now. Just say it man, Mustaine is a jerk and loses band members because of it, period. Make him own it and shame him, because he's more than guilty of it and he needs to be told in no uncertain terms, that he's still a baby and needs to grow up. And treat people better, ESPECIALLY the ones who have been with him through it all like Ellefson.

@@DarkLabProductions Totally agree! It was the unceremonious way they let him go, that hurt him. Mustaine gets why they let him go, he had a lot of problems, by his own admission and that's not his issue with it. He knew it was inevitable, with his behaviour at the time. It was "how" they did it, that didn't sit right with him. And I do tend to agree with him on that point, they could have been easier on him.

I don't believe that in the slightest. I hate to be that guy, here... actually I don't, because I was the victim of what he was, and I didn't do anything wrong to anyone. Dave has to think about his brainchild, and how shit like sexual shenanigans accusations affect him, too.
I am backing David Ellefson on this, though. Anything he did was online, and with someone he thought was overage. The fact that this little bitch lied about her age, and that nothing physically occurred, no underage nudies were sent, and even if they were, I am not interested in hearing how an underage girl sent a spread eagle shot to him, while telling him she was overage at the time can reflect badly on David, because he was lied to. She sent him a message stating she was overage, and I am not about to take her word over his. Logically, it makes more sense that she fooled him into thinking she was over the age, and when he went to break things off, either because she wasn't interested in meeting with him, or maybe even that the truth was known, she fires back at him in such a way that fucks his life up. I'm banking on the latter, and she can go fuck herself if that's the case. Preferably, with a knife.

Still Kinda Pissed, I was born just weeks after Dave at Grossmont Hospital. I used to Hang out in the early days at Vic's Garage. Most upsetting to me is that Dave Continued to have the largest Revolving door for Band Members. And for me the Only thing that kept it Together was David Jr. I feel that its the biggest reason that Megadeth never got over the Hurdle. I pray David continues to stay healthy and free from Cancer. @@daveg4236 Dave mustaine wasn't actually a founding member of Metallica so it is different as Ellefson was a founding member of megadeth. But I think once Ellefson parted ways in 2002 and sued Dave mustaine he eventually came back under contract, so he could be fired any time

The worst and most petty thing was replacing his bass parts on the new album. That is going beyond personal and affecting the art. It's almost on par with Lars turning down's Jason's bass on AJFA.

Classy answer. Megadeth was in a tough spot and really didn't have a choice but to do what they did. Sucks, but it is what it is.

Mustaine could have easily " bucked the system" and had D.E's back. Megadeth fans would have been fine with it . Mustaine will spit you out in a heartbeat yet cry because it happened to him decades ago by Metallica.

I love both Metallica and megadeath, but I do find it funny the biggest thing Dave mustaine has been pissed about for 40+ years has been being kicked out of a band yet he has kicked out how many people out of his own band? Valid reasons or not it still seems kind of weird.

Dude...I've a mexican metalhead all my life, been listening to Megadeth since I was a young kid in the early 90's, seen them live many times: Dave Ellefson has always been a great, great guy and amazing underrated musician. He is NOT replaceable. I love Mustaine but we all know that David Ellefson has gone through Mustaine's hammer many times now, I hope he really reconsiders soon and come out with a great album.

If it didnt happen i wouldn't have gotten to see Kings of Thrash in my home town up close and person with Dave E. Amazing show! So cool of all of the band to stay around after talk to people and take pictures. Got pictures with two of my metal hero's that night. And never say never to getting the team back together!!!
I was just listening to Killing is my business, and man, does the bass playing shine. That band would have never been quite what it was without the different members that greatly contributed. Mustain should recognize. I haven't been into them since the last few lineup reshuffle.
Dude i saw them yesterday megadeth and its my first time seeing Dave without David and im not lying when I say this but sadly the concert was very very blend as in not many people were headbanging or even standing it actually made me sad it was my 4th time seeing them and I never seen a show featuring them being do dead

If you're talking about the Dallas concert, that was an awful crowd. The band sounded sick, they just needed to do a better mic check before; sounded like Dave couldn't tell how close he needed to be for about a song.
That crowd didn't pop for literally anything. Idk what's wrong with metal fans these days - you don't gotta mosh but at least sing when Peace Sells comes on lmao.

@@gorgen23 Death Grips have had the best crowds I've been to in recent years. Not everyone's cup of tea, but insane live - if they ever play again, highly recommended.
